ATLANTA — Willie Isaac “BB” “Mule Horse” Brown, 68, of 24 Macon Drive, died Sunday, June 22, 2003 at South Fulton Medical Center, East Point, Ga.
Born in Abbeville County, S.C., he was a son of the late James W. and Mary Henry Brown. He was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ruth Brown of Abbeville; two sons; a daughter; three brothers, James W. Brown, John H. Brown and Joseph Brown; four sisters, Mary A. Allen, Leana Richardson, Bessie Lee Brown and Ethel J. Gray; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Richie Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Jennifer Brown and Evangelist Bessie Thomas. Burial is in Shady Grove A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Abbeville.
Viewing is 11-7 today at the funeral home.

Ida Mae Clark
SALUDA — Ida Mae Clark, 58, of 391 Adventure Road, wife of Willie Clark Jr., died Saturday, June 21, 2003 at her home.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Eli and Ethel Bletcher Brunson. She was a member of Mine Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Choir and the Pastor’s Aide Ministry. She was also a member of Mine Creek Burial Aide Society and a retired employee of Amick’s Poultry Farm.
Survivors include her husband of the home; five sons, Melvin West of Maryland, Willie West of Johnston, Larry West of Greenwood, Sylvester Clark of Kentucky and Freddie Clark of Augusta, Ga.; a daughter, Dorothy Myers of Augusta; four stepdaughters, Dora Frazier and Deloris Davis, both of Trenton, Betty Andrews of Johnston and Annie West of Maryland; a stepson, Freddie West of Trenton; two brothers, James Brunson and Walter Brunson, both of Saluda; three sisters, Georgia Ann Clark, Rose Burton and Rena Burt, all of Saluda; 16 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Friday at Mine Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. George Key, pastor. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are nephews, and flower bearers are nieces.

Sammie Clark
DUE WEST — Sammie Jones Clark, 77, husband of Sara Clark, died Monday, June 23, 2003 in Greenville.
Born in Due West, he was a son of the late Venie and Sam Clark. He was reared in Piedmont, graduated from West Gantt High School and served two years in the 8th Tank Battalion of the Army. During military service, he was involved in the liberation of France, Germany and central Europe. He was an award-winning salesman for the Life Insurance Company of Georgia for more than 35 years. He participated in the restoration of the pre-Civil War Lindsey Cemetery in Abbeville County.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Susan Webb of Greenville; a son, Joe Clark of Greenville; and a granddaughter.
Services are at 2 Thursday at Due West Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Bob Philyaw. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 6-7:30 tonight at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville.
Family members are at their respective homes.

Marion Joe Heller
Marion Joe Heller, 80, of 101 Stone Haven Drive, Apt. 3, husband of Doris Burton Heller, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at Wesley Commons.
Born in Newberry County, he was a son of the late Annie C. Heller Houseal and Joseph Heller. He was a former employee of Piedmont Technical College with the environmental services. He was a member of Holy Tabernacle Church, Greenwood.
Survivors include his wife of Greenwood; a son, Gregory Blanks of Cincinnati; a daughter, Bridget Payne of New Jersey; a brother, John Heller of Greenwood; two stepsons, Donald Burton and Dennis Burton, both of Greenwood; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Ronald (Brenda) Williams of Greenwood; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home of a niece, Wynetta Reed, 204 Raintree Lane and his wife’s home, 107-B McKellar Court.

Mrs. Willie Mae Jones
LINCOLNTON, GA — Mrs. Willie Mae Jones of Clary Road entered into rest Saturday, June 21, 2003, at home. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2003, 2:00 PM at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Roy D. Andrews, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a Lincoln County native and an Ebenezer Baptist Church member where she served as an usher and a missionary. She was a retired domestic and the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors are two daughters, Margaret (Robert) Gainey, Philadelphia, PA and Anne (James) Gunby, Greenwood, SC; daughter-in-law, Elaine F. Jones; son-in-law, Herbert C. Brown, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Mamie Jo Jones, Willie Mae Jones, Martha Jones, Dorothy Brown, Lincolnton, and Louise Holloway, Augusta; brothers-in-law, Henry Jones and Grady Pryor, Augusta; “special sister” Ruth Jones and “special daughter” Mattie Ware; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends at the home on Clary Road.

Jennie Kight
Jennie Lee Faulkner Kight, 82, resident of 410 Pitts Circle, widow of Orin Kight, died June 24, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County October 24, 1920, she was a daughter of the late James Talmadge and Nannie Elizabeth Whiteford Faulkner. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are three sisters, Betty Strickland of Greenwood and Lucile Smith and Lillie Summers, both of Ninety Six; three granddaughters Kristal Fitz, Kellie Ronsonet and Sarah Britt, all of Lake City, FL, five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00am Thursday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel.
A graveside service will be held on Friday at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Lake City, FL.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 10 to 11 Thursday morning.

Dorothy ‘Dot’ Ashley
DUE WEST — Dorothy Winn “Dot” Ashley, 68, of 4364 Highway 20, wife of Jasper Brown Ashley Jr., died Friday, June 27, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Jessie Bowie Winn. She was a homemaker and a member of Winona Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Diane Marion of Rock Hill; a brother, Alton Winn of Due West; three sisters, Jennie Harlan of Chamblee, Ga., Margaret Tota of Lucie, Fla., and Juanita Williamson of Belton; and two grandchildren.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Winona Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Billy Slatton and Wade Burton. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Michael Williamson, Bobby Williamson, Charles LeCroy, Bob Vipperman, Tim Hall and Stanley Marion.

SALUDA — Willie Ora Burnett Havird, 94, formerly of the Hollywood Community, widow of Wilber Havird, died Friday, June 27, 2003 at National Health Care in Greenwood.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Johnson and Anna Butler Burnett. She was a homemaker and a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are 3 p.m. today in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Rod Elliott.
Visitation is after the services in the church social hall.

Gladys M. Kelley
Gladys Morris Kelley, 78, of 3409 Highway 25 S., widow of John W. Kelley, died Friday, June 27, 2003 at her home.
Born in Drayton, she was a daughter of Bonnie Morris Estes and the late Hollis Morris. She retired from Parke-Davis and was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Ninety Six.
Survivors include her mother of Ninety Six; two daughters, Shirley K. Butler of Ware Shoals and Gloria K. Parkman of Greenwood; a son, Jimmy E. Kelley of Greenwood; two sisters, Katherine Leopard of Ninety Six and Bobbie Pruitt of Tampa, Fla.; two brothers, Jack Morris of Orangeburg and Ronald Morris of Greenwood; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. James Kelley and the Rev. Melvin Brown. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Thomas Melvin Ozmint, 73, of 403 Bond Avenue, died Friday, June 27, 2003 at his home.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Thomas and Mary Brown Ozmint. He was retired from Ken-tucky Fried Chicken in Greenwood and had previously been employed by Mr. Quick Burgers and Greenwood Mills. He was a member of Union Baptist Church, Iva.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Miriam O. Shaw.
Surviving are three sisters, Georgia O. Alexander and Linda O. Richey, both of Greenwood and Frances M. Ozmint of the home.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, Iva.
The family is at the home, 403 Bond Avenue, Greenwood, and will receive friends following the service at the home of his niece, Deborah Shaw, 101 McKee Street, Iva.

Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of Frankie Padgett Smith and George Wallace. He was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother of Atlanta; his father and stepmother, Mary Wallace, of Saluda; two daughters, Jeniysha Padgett of Edgefield and Ny’Asia Padgett of Ninety Six; three sisters, Sylvia Padgett of McCormick, Laquisha Shanute Padgett and Destiny N. Wallace of Saluda; a stepbrother, Omar Abney of Prosperity; two stepsisters, MarQuesia Abney of Newberry and Antonia Gallman of Prosperity; maternal grandmother, Gladys Padgett of Saluda; paternal grandmother, Mattie Hill of Saluda; paternal great-grandmothers, Susanna Shealy and Hattie Golston, both of Saluda.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial is in Wateree C.M.E. Church Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of the home; her mother; a daughter, Julie Chandler of the home; two sons, Timothy Sands of Birbgin, N.Y., Todd Sands of Brockport, N.Y.; a sister, Beverley Walker of North Augusta; two brothers, Sidney Salway of Cross Hill, Clair Salway of Virginia Beach, Va.; and three grandchildren.
