Tracy Dorn, ex-McCormick County administrator, dies
McCORMICK — Tracy William Dorn Sr., 52, of 216 McCracken St., husband of Vicki McCracken Dorn, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002 at his home.
Born in McCormick, he was a son of the late Joseph Travis Dorn Sr. and Willie Mae Floyd Dorn. A former building contractor, he had served as a McCormick County building official and county administrator. He was a member of McCormick Baptist Church and attended McCormick United Methodist Church. He also played tenor saxophone with several local bands.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Tracy Dorn Jr. of Slidell, La.; a brother, Travis Dorn Jr. of Abbeville; a stepbrother, Fred Baker of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; a sister, Judy Bowick of McCormick; two stepsisters, Barbara Coleman of Canton, Ga., and Cathy Smith of Edgewater, Fla.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Friday in Overbrook Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Don Clendaniel.
Visitation is 6-7:30 tonight at McCormick United Methodist Church.
The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny McCracken, 212 McCracken St.

Annabelle Brissey
Annabelle Bosler Brissey, 84, formerly of Wisewood Apartments, widow of Claude Brissey, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002 at Magnolia Manor.
The family is at the home of a sister, Evelyn B. Brown, 524 Bond St.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home.

James ‘Jim’ Byrd Sr.
Services for James “Jim” Byrd Sr., of 107 Mosley Road, are 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, with the Rev. Hosie Byrd officiating and the Rev. Raymond Adams presiding. Assisting are the Revs. Arthur Kemp, Norris Turner, Lohoma Mosley, Claude Tolbert and Paul Wharton and Elders Oscar A. Klugh and George T. Devlin. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are grandsons and nephews.
Flower bearers are granddaughters and nieces.
Honorary escorts are deacons of Mount Moriah Baptist Church and stewards of Oldfield Bethel A.M.E. Church.
The family is at the home.
Parks Funeral Home is in charge.

Harold Cunningham
PLUM BRANCH — Services for Harold Chester Cunningham are 2 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Spring Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. James W. Price, Otis Cunningham and Camilla Simpkins. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Grant Stevenson, Chuckey Cunningham, Keldrick Cunningham, Ben Robertson, Butch Leverette and Andra Cunningham.
Flower bearers are nieces and cousins.
The family is at the home, Route 1, Plum Branch.

David Haddon
ABBEVILLE — David LeRoy Haddon Jr., 56, of 1363 Klugh Road, husband of Maye Branyon Haddon, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in Abbeville, he was a son of Florence Brown Haddon and the late LeRoy Haddon Sr. He graduated from Greenwood High School and retired from the South Carolina Department of Highways as maintenance engineer for District 2. He was a member and deacon of Hodges Presbyterian Church and a member and Past Master of Greenwood Masonic Lodge 91 A.F.M.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother of Abbeville; a daughter, Allison Marie Haddon of the home; a brother, Edwin B. Haddon and a sister, Mary H. Bolen, both of Abbeville.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Blyth Funeral Home, Greenwood, conducted by the Rev. Bob Piephoff. Burial with Masonic Rites is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are LeRoy Haddon, George Haddon, Tommy Ricketts, Rick Landreth, Billy Winn, Ronnie Hannah and Ken Haddon.
Honorary escorts are members of Greenwood Masonic Lodge 91 A.F.M.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.

Mildred N. Ledford
BLACKSBURG — Mildred Elizabeth Nelms Ledford, 79, of 117 Old Shelby St., wife of John B. Ledford Sr., died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Family members are at their respective homes, including the home of her son, John B. Ledford Jr. of Troy.
White Columns Funeral Service, Blacksburg, is in charge.

Rachel Price
Rachel Porter Price, 80, formerly of Briggs Street, widow of Edward Marshall Price, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002 at McCormick Health Care Center.
Born in North, she was a daughter of the late Fredrick Allen and Viola Livingston Porter. She graduated from North High School and retired from Moore Business Forms, Greenwood. She was a member of Harris United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda P. McMahan of Abbeville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 4:30 p.m. Friday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Buddy Wiles.
Visitation is 3-4 Friday at Blyth Funeral home.
The family is at the home of John and Brenda McMahan, 901 Washington St., Abbeville.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Upstate S.C. Chapter, 521 N. McDuffie St., Anderson, S.C. 29621-5528.

Myrtle Rhodes
Myrtle Threatt Rhodes, 99, former resident of 210 New Market St., widow of Claude E. Rhodes, died December 24, 2002 at the Saluda Nursing Center in Saluda.
Born in Lee County, SC, January 3, 1903, she was a daughter of the late Nathaniel Benjamin and Lillie Cotton Threatt. She was retired from Abney Mills-Grendel Plant.
Mrs. Rhodes was a member of Jordan Memorial Baptist Church where she worked in the Nursery Department of the Church for many years.
Surviving are two nephews, Hubert T. Chandler of Greenwood and Benny Threatt of Columbia, a great nephew, H. Joe Chandler of Greenwood.
Graveside services will be conducted 3 PM Thursday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Joseph Ouzts officiating.
The family is at the home of Hubert and Claire Chandler, 1511 Ninety Six Highway and will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.
Memorials may be made to Jordan Memorial Baptist Church, PO Box 1267, Greenwood, SC 29648.

Roy Rhodes
Ephriam Roy Rhodes, 82, of 114 Rosemont Drive, husband of Lucille King Rhodes, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late James A. and Irola Faulkner Rhodes. He was a World War II Army veteran and recipient of four Bronze Stars, Meritorious Service Insignia and Good Conduct Medals. He retired from Greenwood Mills after 42 years of service. A member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, he was a former superintendent of the Sunday School Department, past chairman of the church Administrative Council and a member of the United Methodist Men’s Club.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Jerry R. Rhodes of Saluda and David L. Rhodes of Columbia; two sisters, Nellie R. Thrailkill of Saluda and Effie R. Quarles of Clinton; five grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Bob Napier and Lawrence Johnson. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Mike Rhodes, Ricky Rhodes, Jerry Rentz, Bob Still, Donnie Goforth and Gene Latham.
Honorary escorts are members of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Men’s Club.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Assisting are the Revs. Carl Littles, Lee Ruth Cook, and E. Haynes and Minister Charles Williams. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers are Richard Quarles Jr., John Willie Quarles, Gary Donnell Quarles, Thomas Frazier, Charles Lewis and King James Underwood Jr.
Flower bearers are ushers of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
Honorary escorts are members of Greenwood High School Class of 1994 and co-workers of National Textiles.
A wake service is 6-7:30 tonight at Richie Funeral Home.

Nannies K. Wright
DONALDS — Nannies Klugh Wright, of 3777 Highway 20, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Ida Rebecca Davis Klugh. She was a member of Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, Hodges.
Survivors include three sons, Eugene Wright Jr. of Honea Path, Cornell Wright and Howard Wright of Due West; six daughters, Gladys Virginia Valentine of Philadelphia, Ida L. Harrison of Chicago, Bernice Sprowl of Cokesbury, Frances Latimer of Charlotte, N.C., Betty A. Manigo of Savannah, Ga., and Roberta Allen of Asheville, N.C.; a sister, Ida Ruth Smith of the home; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Parks Funeral Home, Greenwood.

Frances E. Craine
CLINTON — Frances Elizabeth Craine, 76, of 111 Davidson St., died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002 at her home.
Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Zero and Cannie Medlin Landers. A homemaker, she attended Bethany Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Craine and Harold Landers, both of Clinton and Travis Craine of Norfolk, Va.; two daughters, Dorothy Davis and Cynthia Martin, both of Clinton; two brothers, Austin Landers of Clinton and Did Landers of Duncan; a sister, Louise Edwards of Clinton; 23 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Bethany Presbyterian Church, with burial in Rosemont Cemetery.
The body will be taken to the home, where the family will receive friends.

Narvis F. Godfrey
CLINTON — Narvis Fulmer Godfrey, 81, of 40 Dogwood Circle, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002 at her home.
Born in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late Chester Garfield and Victoria Metts Fulmer. She was a homemaker, a member of Lydia Church of God, a former Sunday School teacher and a worker with the Ladies Ministries of the church. Retired from Torrington Co., she was also a former employee of Lydia Mill and the Sav-More Store.
Survivors include her husband, Groce A. Godfrey Sr. of the home; a son, Groce A. “Pete” Godfrey Jr. of Cross Hill; four daughters, Betty G. Hostetler of Cross Hill, Vivian G. Austin and Jeanette Stone, both of Clinton and Patricia G. Rivers of Asheboro, N.C.; three brothers, James Fulmer and Von Fulmer, both of Laurens and R.C. Fulmer of Greenwood; three sisters, Shirley Smith of York, Ray Johnson and Ruth Nelson, both of Laurens; 21 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Lydia Church of God, with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation is 6-9 tonight at the home.
