BARNEGAT, N.J. — Bruce J. Cooper, 66, of 147 Brighton Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at his home.
Born in Matawan, N.J., he was a son of the late James Bruce and Margaret Rankin Cooper. He was retired from G.P.U., Fork River Plant. He was a member of F.O.A.M. St. Stephens Lodge No. 63 in South Amboy, N.J.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Cooper of Little Eagle Harbor, N.J., Mary C. Hathcock of Kingland, Fla. and Christy Cooper of Gill, Ill. and two grandchildren.
Graveside services are at 11 Monday at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Ware Shoals.
Visitation is from 9-10:30 Monday at Parker-White Funeral Home, with Masonic Rites at 10.

Myrtle F. Crenshaw
LAURENS — Myrtle Fuller Crenshaw, 94, of 680 Indian Mound Road, widow of Charles H. Crenshaw, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at National Health Care.
Born in the Mount Pleasant Community, she was a daughter of the late Augustus B. and Beulah Faulkner Fuller. She worked for Laurens Mill in the 1950’s, but was primarily a homemaker and helper with the family farm and store.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Jean Ireland of Columbia; two sons, Larry Crenshaw and Fred Crenshaw, both of Laurens; two sisters, Ruth Witt and Fannie Moody, both of Greenwood; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 today at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Martin Willis. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation was from 7-8:30 last night at The Kennedy Mortuary.
The family is at the home of Larry Crenshaw, 870 Indian Mound Road.

Erlene Hanvey Patterson
LAURENS — Erlene Hanvey Patterson, age 64 of 111 Garlington St. and the widow of Horace E. Patterson, Sr. died Friday, Jan. 25th at her home.
She was born in Easley, S.C. and was the daughter of the late Rev. John A. Hanvey and Rev. Nettie M. King Hanvey. Mrs. Patterson was retired from the Atlas Vending Company, which served the Gilland Plant. She was a member and pianist of the Laurens Church of God.
She is survived by one son, Eddie Patterson of Laurens; three daughters, Teresa Madigan of Waterloo, Rachel Patterson of Waterloo, and Barbara Killough of Dearing, Ga., one brother, Curtis L. Hanvey of Knoxville, Tenn., and five sisters, Sue Hanvey Smith of Honea Path, Edith Hanvey Vest of Cleveland, Tn., Velma Hanvey Spearman of Laurens, Eva Hanvey Roach of Easley, and Mildred Hanvey Smith of Laurens.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Tonya Lee, Wendy Whitaker, Lynn Johnson, and Justin B. Taylor; five great-grandchildren, Austin, Breanna, Maddison, Carly, and Matthew.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Carl and J.T. Hanvey; four sisters, Ruth Guice, Gaynell Ball, Grace Burke, and Louise Lothridge.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Laurens Church of God on Monday at 1:30 p.m. with interment following at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Gray Funeral Home of Laurens from 7:00 until 9:00 PM on Sunday night.

Walter W. Robinson
GREENWOOD — Walter W. Robinson, 87, of 1927 Calhoun Road, widower of Annie Jones Robinson, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Self Regional Healthcare.
Born in Donalds, he was a son of the late Adam and Margaret Patton Robinson. He was a retiree of Greenwood Mills. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a brother, James Austin Robinson Sr. of Donalds.
Services are at 11 Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Willie Key.
Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 10.
Pallbearers are nephews.
Flower bearers are nieces.
Visitation is Monday evening at the home of his nephew, the Rev. and Mrs. Milton Aiken, 205 Bowie St., Donalds.

SENECA — Frances Craft Wardlaw Scott, 90, of Field Village Apartments, widow of Eugene Scott, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002 at Toccoa Nursing Center.
Born in Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late David and Ida Regular Craft. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a son, Clarence Wardlaw of Detroit, Mich.; two daughters, Sylvenia W. Reynolds of Due West and Betty Brooks of Seat Pleasant, Md.; and one sister, Polly Cunningham of Seneca.
Services are at 2:30 Monday at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Seneca, conducted by Minister Geri Miggins. Burial is in Oak Grove Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30.

Oscar L. Conway Jr.
NINETY SIX — Oscar Leroan Conway Jr., 18, of 410 Edgewood Circle, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Highway 34.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Lucy Bland Walker and the late Oscar Leroan Conway Sr.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Charlotte, N.C. is a stepfather, Kelvin Walker Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Averyon Barksdale of Charlotte, N.C. and Christian Conway of Marietta, Ga.; four sisters, Derasha Conway Valentine of Hodges and Candace Conway, Lacie Conway and Jaranda Conway, all of Ninety Six; paternal grandmother, Katie L. Smith of Greenwood; maternal grandmother, Lillie M. Bland of the home; great-grandfather, Levesta Waldrop of Ninety Six and godmother, Debbie Forrest of Hodges.

LEVEL LAND — Addie Lee Wilson Alewine, 91, of 10 Black Hill Road, widow of Roy Chalmas Alewine, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Newton and Betty Lee Tribble Wilson. She was a member of Little River Baptist Church and a retired employee of the Abbeville Shirt Plant.
Survivors include three sons, Benjamin Chalmas Alewine of Iva, David Lee Alewine of Belton and Jerry Thomas Alewine of Greenwood; three sisters, Louise Moore and Dorothy Burdette, both of Belton and Anna Saylors of Anderson; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Little River Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Charles Fuller. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Ruth Connor
COLUMBIA — Ruth Ridlehoover Connor, 97, of Brian Center/St. Andrews, widow of J.H. “Joe” Connor, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Lexington Medical Center.
Born in Edgefield County, she was a daughter of the late Walter Levi and Kate Long Ridlehoover.
Formerly of Greenwood, she was a former employee of Greenwood Mills, Greenwood Plant, and had lived in Columbia since 1958. She was a member of Elmwood Church of God.
Survivors include three sons, Marshall Hennies Connor and Charles J. Connor, both of Columbia and Ray Connor of Daleville, Ala.; two sisters, Erma Mewbourn and Doris Goldman, both of Greenwood; a brother, Arnold Ridlehoover of Bradley; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Wednesday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Charles Ledford. Burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Lynn Doolittle, Danny Doolittle, Merriell Doolittle, Jerry Mewbourn, Robert Harrison and Paul Goldman.

Arnold Curtis
GREENWOOD — Arnold Nelson Curtis, 85, of No. 4008 Treehouse at Wesley Commons, husband of Hazel Lewis Curtis, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at his home.
Born in Stratford, Conn., he was a son of the late Maurice T. and Hannah Wellington Curtis. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, and he moved to Greenwood with Parke-Davis, where he retired as director of Financial Services in 1978. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was a member of the Henry Brown Sunday School Class, a deacon and an elder.
A member and treasurer of the Self Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Board, he served five years as a voluntary financial consultant to the Board of Trustees of Greenwood Methodist Home, now Wesley Commons. He also served with development committees for Bristol Court, Wesley Park and the Heritage House and was the first treasurer of the founding board of Greenwood Area Habitat for Humanity.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, William H. Curtis of Florence and Thomas A. Curtis of Chester, Va.; a daughter, Judith Curtis Waldorn of Richmond, Va.; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services are at 1:30 Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, conducted by Dr. John Wall and Dr. John Livingston. Visitation is at the church after the service.
Honorary escorts are deacons and elders of the church and members of the Cambridge Investment Club.
