ANDERSON Carrie Bell Tucker Brown, 95, of 203 Range View Road, widow of Sam Brown, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Ellenburg Nursing Center.
Born in McCormick, she was a daughter of the late William and Gracie Belcher Tucker and a homemaker. A member of Rockford A.M.E. Church, Mount Carmel, she also attended Mount Carmel A.M.E. Church in Anderson.
Survivors include a sister, Lillian Tucker Davis of Clinton.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Rockford A.M.E. Church, Mount Carmel, conducted by the Rev. James Louden III. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Freddie Wardlaw, Roy Smith, Al Tucker, Charles Wideman Jr., George Henry Tucker, Marshall Thomas and Douglas Quarles.

AUGUSTA Timothy Eugene Smith, 66, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, in Augusta, Ga.
Born in Abbeville, S.C., he was a son of the late Henry Smith Sr. and Martha Aiken Smith. He was an Army veteran, a retired construction worker and a former member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Abbeville County.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Spearman of Charlotte, N.C.; four brothers, Alton Smith, Allen Smith, the Rev. Henry Smith and James Smith, all of Abbeville; five sisters, Beatrice Norward, Julia Stucky and Sarah Calhoun, all of Buffalo, N.Y., Margaret Harrison of Abbeville and Lillie Ruth Wheeler of Landover, Md.; and a grandchild.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Willie J. Frazier and P.C. Anderson. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.

GREENWOOD Betty Jean Deitz Ashley, 69, of 2275 Montague Ave. Extension, wife of Albert D. Ashley, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at Self Regional Healthcare.
Born in Fountain Inn, she was a daughter of the late W.C. Joe and Lois Moore Deitz. She was retired from Abbeville Shirt Makers. She attended Southside Baptist Church in Honea Path, where she was a member of the Leottis Ashley Sunday School Class and the Senior Citizens Group.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are three daughters, Kaye W. Perrin of Greenwood, Lynn W. Bannister of Hodges and Cathy A. Smith of Donalds; a son, David Watkins of Waterloo; a brother, Bob Deitz of Greenwood; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services are at 3 today at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Dean Webb and the Rev. Frank Thomas. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

McCORMICK Tommie Walker Browne, 90, of 701 Augusta St., widow of Harold R. Browne, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at her home.
Born in McCormick, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Maggie Jennings Walker. She was a graduate of McCormick High School. A member of McCormick United Methodist Church and a former choir member, she was also a member of the Wesley Adult Sunday School Class and the Eula Keown Circle of the Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Browne Newsom of Charlotte, N.C.; a son, Tom Browne of McCormick; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services are at 11 Thursday at the McCormick United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Donald Clendaniel. Burial is in Overbrook Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 7 tonight.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Harper of Belton and Ray Harper of Killeen, Texas ; a sister, Dorris Garrett of Sumter, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
