Mose Bennie Anderson
GREENWOOD — Mose Bennie Anderson, 60, passed away July 12 at Self Memorial Hospital. He was a son of the late Mose Bennie Anderson and Elizabeth Williams Anderson. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Hodges.
Survivors include a son, Barry Anderson, Greenwood; five sisters, Edith Anderson, Francis Warren, Betty Warren, Bertha Anderson, all of Greenwood and Sadie Talbert of Atlanta; five brothers, David Anderson, Daniel Anderson, the Rev. Phillip Anderson, Samuel Anderson, all of Greenwood and Douglas Anderson of Greenville.
Services are at 11 a.m., Monday at Parks Funeral Home, conducted by Elder O.A. Klugh. Burial is in the Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are nephews.
Flower bearers are nieces.
Visitation is from 3:30 to 5 p.m. today at Parks Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of Daniel Anderson, 113 Oxnard Court, Raintree Subdivision.

John Bagwell
GREENWOOD - John R. Bagwell, resident of 105 Partridge Road, husband of JoNell Brown Bagwell, passed away July 13, 2001 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Rev. Herman Lee and Mildred Anderson Bagwell. He was a graduate of Ware Shoals High School and the Greenwood College of Commerce and served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He was employed by Johnson Motors for over thirty years serving as office manager and was currently comptroller for Ballentine Ford-Lincoln-Mercury.
A member and Deacon of South Green-wood Pentecostal Holiness Church, he was also a member of the Men's Bible Class and formerly taught in the Sunday School depart-ment for 30 years. He served for eight years on the Budgetary Planning Committee for the International Pentecostal Holiness Church and served three years on the Falcon Children's Home Board in Falcon, NC.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter and son-in-law, Gena and Rev. Eric Boggs of Belton; a daughter, Merry Elizabeth Bagwell of Greenwood; a sister, Rebecca B. Butler of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Kristen Jill Boggs, Lauren Beth Boggs, Kylie Lynn Boggs and Jonathan Eric Boggs, Jr., all of Belton.
He was predeceased by a sister, Rachel L. Bagwell.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 Sunday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ansel Boggs and Rev. Lawrence Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Ken Allen, Dennis Barden, Ron Boggs, Tim Brooks, Bobby Brown, Marty Brown, Branch Hall, Ray Murray, Rufus Padgett and Jimmy Still.
Honorary escort will be members of the official Church Board and the Men's Bible Class of South Greenwood Pentecostal Holiness Church.
The family is at the home in Cherokee Hills and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 Saturday evening.

Eva Kohler Massey
NORTH AUGUSTA — Eva Kohler Massey, 74, of 11 Bolin Court, wife of Raymond L. Massey, passed away July 13, at University Hospital.
Born in Memphis, Tenn., she lived in North Augusta for 20 years and was a former resident of Greenwood. She was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church.
Survivors include her husband; five sons, James R. Robinson of Altemont Springs, Fla., William P. Wade of Baton Rouge, La., John K. Wade of Roseburg, Ore., David Massey of Greenville and Wesley Massey of Prosperity, S.C.; two daughters, Joy Cox, of LaPlace, La., and Amanda W. Leatherwood of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, David Whitehead of Crestview, Fla., and Vernon Whitehead of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Sara Schilling of Crestview, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 2 at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, conducted by Father David F.O. Thompson. Internment will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 7 to 9 today at Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church Building Fund, 471 W. Martintown Rd., North Augusta, S.C. 29841 and St. Jude Chidren’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

Joseph ‘Joey’ Milton Rudd
GREENWOOD — Joseph “Joey” Milton, 51, of 934 Woodlawn Road., husband of Maria Pulliam, passed away July 14 in Jacksboro, Texas .
The family is at the home and the home of his father-in-law Ed Pulliam, 930 Woodlawn Road.

Gertrude Smith
DONALDS — Gertrude Smith, 91, widow of Roy B. Smith, of Route 2, passed away July 14 at Abbeville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late George and Daisy Herron Smith. She was a member of Due West Baptist Church and was retired from Huggins Garment Co. of Due West.
Survivors include two sons, Roy Jack Smith and Bobby R. Smith, both of Donalds; two daughters, Gloria Tumblin of Ware Shoals and Donna Erwin of Abbeville; two brothers, Leon Posey of Honea Path and Roy Posey of Anderson; one sister, Annie Mae Ashley of Honea Path; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Monday at Due West Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. J. R. Alewine. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2 Monday.
Vistitation is from 7 to 9 today at the Pruitt Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Due West Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

Antho Johnson Watt
ABBEVILLE – Antho Johnson Watt, 60, of 1303 Old Hodges Road., Abbeville, passed away July 14 at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville, he was a son of the late John Johnson and the late Elma Johnson. He was retired from Kemet and a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Abbeville.
Survivors include three daughters, Connie W. Coleman, Tynnetta Norman and Kimberly Watt, all of Abbeville; three brothers, Ozzie Johnson, of Greenwood, James Allen Johnson and David Eugene Johnson, both of Abbeville and seven grandchildren.
Visitation is at the home.

Betty Bowman Dean
GREENWOOD — Betty Jean Bowman Dean, 52, of 313-A Byrd St., wife of Robert “Doc” Searles, passed away July 15, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of Freddie Bowman and Virginia Oliphant Bowman. She was a former employee of Carolina Pride and a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church. She attended Brewer High School.
Survivors include her husband of the home; her father of Washington , D.C.; her mother of Greenwood; two sons, Baron Searles of Greenwood and Sherman Dean of the home; two daughters, Shameka Searles of the home and Nicole Dean of Greenwood; three brothers, Ronald Bowman and James Bowman, both of Greenwood and Timothy Brown of Washington , D.C.; two sisters, Selita Watson and Sandra Bowman, both of Greenwood; a cousin reared in the home, Jawaski Wilson; 14 grandchildren, two granddaughters reared in the home, Quanda Gardner of Greenwood and Amarylis Searles of the home; and three great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home and at the home of her mother, 404 Griffin St.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

Jerry Farrar
BUFORD, Ga. — James G. “Jerry” Farrar, 60, husband of Susan “Suzy” Gardner Farrar, passed away July 15, 2001.
Born in Kansas City, Mo., he graduated from Lee’s Summit High School, received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Missouri and a master’s degree from the University of Kansas. He was the founder of International Navigation, Boca Raton, Fla., and a staff engineer and electrical engineer with LXE Inc. in Norcross. He was a member of Buford First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Lauren Farrar of Reno, Nev., Linden Barrick of Mathews, Va., and Jerritt Hooper of Atlanta; a sister, Jacqueline Orth of Colleyville, Texas ; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1 Tuesday at Buford First United Methodist Church by the Revs. Kathryn Lamon and Suzanne Clegg. Memorial graveside services will be conducted at 2 Wednesday at Elmwood Cemetery, Ninety Six, S.C., by the Rev. Ben Herlong. Visitation is at the cemetery after the services.
Wednesday, the family will be at the home of his father- and mother-in-law, William A. and Katherine Gardner, 102 Holloway Court, Ninety Six.
Memorials may be made to Buford First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 329, Buford, Ga., 30515 or to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 301 N. Cambridge St., Ninety Six, S.C. 29666.

Elmer Baby Gates
MARIETTA, Ga. — Elmer Baby Gates, 75, of 262 Velma St., formerly of Ware Shoals, S.C., widower of Mary Gates, passed away July 15, 2001, in Marietta.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Davis Strumpf Funeral Home.

Baby Boy Moton
GREENWOOD — Baby Boy Moton, infant son of Kendall and Andrea Theos Moton, of 216 Elizabeth Ave., passed away July 11, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include his parents of the home; maternal grandparents, Helen and Ronnie Hardy of Greenwood and Andrew Theos of Lakeworth, Fla.; paternal grandparents, Claude and Linda Moton of Hodges and Gail Moton of Simpsonville; maternal great-grandmother, Madeline Wade of Chicago; and paternal great-grandparents, Emma and Floyd Robertson of Plum Branch.
There will be no service.

Joey Rudd
GREENWOOD — Joseph Milton “Joey” Rudd, 51, of 934 Woodlawn Road, husband of Marie Pulliam Rudd, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2001, in Texas .
Born in Belton, he was a son of the late Barney and Janie Ruth Rudd. He was a truck driver with Pulliam Trucking Co. and was of the Baptist faith. He was twice married, first to the late Lila Divine Rudd.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Joey Milton Rudd of Cheraw; a daughter, Terisa Deal of Greenwood; a stepson, Will Pulliam of the home; a sister, Vivian Cole of Belton; a brother, Johnny Rudd of Belton; and two grandsons.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Randy Ouzts and the Rev. William Robertson officiating. Burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are employees of Pulliam Trucking Co.
Visitation is at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m.
The family is at the home, 934 Woodlawn Road and at the home of his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Pulliam, 930 Woodlawn Road.

Lillie Bell Stevenson
GREENWOOD — Mrs. Lillie Bell Wharton Stevenson, formerly of Greenwood, wife of William Stevenson, passed away July 13, 2001, in Potomac, Md.
Services will be conducted Friday in Potomac.
Local family members are at 139 Independence Way, Greenwood.

Antho ‘Sis’ Watt
ABBEVILLE — Antho “Sis” Johnson Watt, 60, of 1303 Old Hodges Rd., passed away July14, 2001, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville, she was a daughter of the late John and Elma Johnson. She attended Abbeville public schools and graduated from J.S. Wright High School in 1961. She was retiree of Kemet and a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Connie W. Coleman, Tynnetta Norman and Kimberly Watt, all of Abbeville; three brothers, Ozzie Johnson of Greenwood and James Allen Johnson and David Eugene Johnson, both of Abbeville; four grandsons reared in the home, Perkeis Watt, Xavier Watt, Laquavus Watt and Mykel Coleman; and three other children reared in the home, Alecia Johnson, Pamela Johnson and Eric O. Johnson.
Services are at 2 Wednesday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Willie J. Frazier, assisted by the Rev. Marvin Cunningham. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Pallbearers are nephews, and flower bearers are nieces.
Visitation is at the home.

Floyd Williams
McCORMICK — Floyd Williams, 61, of Route 2, Highway 378 East, passed away July 16, 2001, at his home.
Born in McCormick, he was a son of Josie Hill Williams and the late Clyde Williams. He was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church and a retired log cutter.
Survivors include his mother of the home; two sons, Willie Floyd Williams of the U.S. Navy and Dexter Moore of McCormick; a daughter, Dorothy Jean Johnson of Atlanta; a sister, Jessie Williams Wilson of McCormick; nine brothers, Willie Williams, Henry Williams, Joe Cee Williams, Marvin Williams, Thomas Williams and Arthur Williams, all of McCormick, Marion Williams of Edgefield and Lloyd Williams of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Walker Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Seymour ‘Wee’ Bowie
GREENWOOD — Seymour “Wee” Bowie, 70, of 101 Park Alley, husband of Jessie Mae Gary Bowie, passed away July 16, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Callison, he was a son of the late Henry and Nancy Fuller Quarles Bowie. Self-employed, he retired as a logger and was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Greenwood; three sons, Seymour Brown, Alexander Brown and Antonia Brown, all of Newberry; 10 daughters, Dabnah A. Childs, Mrs. Donald (Jessie L.) Bell and Pamela J. Bowie, all of Greenwood, Deborah Brown of Columbia, Sharonda Brown, Pletrina Brown, Tywanda Brown, Patricia Wilson and Demetria Bates, all of Newberry and Suzianne Brown of Laurens; a brother, Robert Mosley of Greenwood; 17 grandchildren, two reared in the home, Nicole Bowie and Rashaun Bowie, both of Greenwood; two nieces reared in the home, Lenora McBride and Linda Parks, both of Greenwood; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The family is at 605 Owens St.
