Porter Brock
DUE WEST - Porter E. Brock, 94, formerly of Aiken Road, widower of Lucille Young Brock, passed away Jan. 5, 2001, at Abbeville Nursing Home.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Darby and Emma Adams Brock. He was a retired farmer and a member of Keowee Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Jasper Brock of Ware Shoals, Johnnie Brock of Honea Path and Sloan Brock of Donalds; a daughter, Ellen Alewine of Honea Path; two sisters, Lydia Davis of Belton and Addie Bell Lollis of Antreville; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 Monday at Pruitt Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Charles Fuller and the Rev. Ralph Carter. Burial will be in Keowee Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Pruitt Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of a son, Johnnie Brock, 190 Cowan Road.

Elizabeth DuPre
COLUMBIA - Elizabeth Cappelmann Dupre, 77, wife of the late Moffatt Barmore “Buck” Dupre, passed away Jan. 5, 2001.
Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Frederick William and Henry Cary Cappelmann. She was educated in Columbia schools and attended Mary Baldwin College and the University of South Carolina, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta. She retired from the S.C. Budget and Control Board in 1985. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, served as a volunteer with the S.C. Heart Association and was a member of the Friday and Monday Bridge clubs.
Survivors include her two daughters, Cary DuPre Lafaye and Elizabeth DuPre Maloney, both of Columbia; a son, William Edward DuPre of Ninety Six; a sister, Mary Anne Kaneft of Columbia; and a granddaughter.
Graveside services will be at 1 Monday at Elmwood Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 4-6 tonight at 1412 Haynesworth Road.

RAYLE, Ga. - William Clayton Smith, 30, of 1645 Bartram Trace Road, passed away Jan. 6, 2001, at his home.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Betty Joyce Buff Smith and William David Smith, both of Rayle. He was self employed as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member at Jehovah’s Witness Church in Washington , Ga.
Survivors include his parents; a sister, Rhonda Standard of Rayle; maternal grandmother, Maggie Buff of Rayle; and paternal grandparents, Helen and Silas Jernigan of Greenwood.
Graveside services will be at 11 Monday at Carters Grove Baptist Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Russell Lynch, Gene Taylor, Darrell Kendricks, Donnie Maxwell, Pete Poss, Wayne Poss and Alfonzo Mercier.

NORTH — John Jessie Bolin, 73, passed away Jan. 6, 2001.
Born in Orangeburg County, he was a son of the late Hubert J. and Annie Ruth Chavis Bolin. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Olivia Benjamin of Greenwood; and two brothers, Edgar J. Bolin of Brownsburg, Ind., and H.J. Bolin Jr. of North.
Graveside services were Monday in Bolin Cemetery.

Charles Anderson Cade
McCORMICK — Charles Anderson “Boonie” Cade, 49, of Route 1, passed away Jan. 7, 2001, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Augusta.
Born in Lincolnton, Ga., he was a son of Charlie Mae Wright Cade and the late Fred Cade. He was a 1969 Mims High School graduate, a Vietnam War veteran and a member of Little Mill Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Carlos A. Postell of Calhoun Falls; and his mother of McCormick.
The family is at the home of his mother, Route 1, McCormick.
Services will be announced by Walker Funeral Home, which is in charge.
Arthur O. Cox
ARCADIA — Arthur O. Cox, 55, of 795 Ethel Road, husband of Synthia R. Cox, passed away Jan. 7, 2001, in Arcadia.
Born in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late Odell and Flora Seay Cox. He was a retired maintenance worker with Whispering Pines, Spartanburg, and a Marine Corps veteran. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of Arcadia; two sons, Tim Cox and Lee Cox, both of Adairsville, Ga.; two daughters, Tammy Barlow and Trenia Moss, both of Adairsville; a stepson, Joe Richards of Roebuck; two stepdaughters, Arvella Sellars of Spartanburg and Arlene Johnson of Greenwood; two brothers, Edd Cox and Calvin Cox, both of Spartanburg; and two sisters, Betty Chandler of Pauline and Estelle Goforth of Spartanburg.
Graveside services, with military rites, will be at 2 today in Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Woodruff. The Rev. Greg Pressley will officiate.

HEIGHTSVILLE, Md. — Anga LaNette Griffin, 39, passed away Jan. 3, 2001.
Born in Edgefield, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Fred and Mary Ann Peterson Griffin.
Survivors include a daughter, Jahneika Griffin; two brothers, Stephan Griffin of Denver and Fredrick Griffin of Johnston, S.C.; and three sisters, Coretta Langford of Capital City, Peggie Mays of Aiken, S.C., and Sharon Griffin-Nicholson of Johnston.
Services were Monday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Johnston, with burial in the church cemetery.
The family is at the home of a sister, Sharon Griffin-Nicholson, Hardy Place Road, Johnston.
Mell B. Huey
CLINTON — Mell Braswell Huey, 84, formerly of Clinton, widow of Melvin Huey, passed away Jan. 7, 2001, in Whigham, Ga.
Born in Alston, Ga., she was a daughter of the late J.E. and Bessie Cox Braswell. She was a retired employee of Clinton Mills and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother, J.E. Braswell of Saluda; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Rosemont Cemetery.

HOUSTON — James Blakely Johnson, 51, of 1726 Cresent Green Drive, formerly of Clinton, S.C., husband of Judith Eileen Elkin Johnson, passed away Jan. 7, 2001, in Houston.
Born in Clinton, he was a son of James P. Johnson and the late Louise Blakely Johnson. He was a Mason and an employee of American Habilitation Service Inc.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his father of Kinards, S.C.; two sons, James Michael Johnson and Kevin Marshall Johnson, both of Clinton; two stepchildren, Daniel Maynard Shoemaker of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Jessica Louise Webster of Whitehouse, Tenn.; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview Baptist Church, Kinards, with burial in the church cemetery.

NORTH — Frances Riddle Long, 81, widow of S.F. Long, passed away Jan. 7, 2001.
Born in Ware Shoals, she was a daughter of the late William Horace and Ruth Koon Riddle. She was the former owner of Culler Funeral Home and a member of First Baptist Church of North.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Butch (Merri) Swygert of Lexington and Mrs. Jerry (Jan) Hodgens of Gaston; a brother, Mack D. Riddle of West Columbia; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services were Monday in Riverside Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Chuck Wells.

CALHOUN FALLS — Margie Marie “Winkie” Waters Morris, 75, of McCormick Health Care Center, formerly of Calhoun Falls, widow of Boyd Franklin Morris, passed away Jan. 8, 2001, at the Columbia-Augusta Burn Center in Augusta.
Born in Iva, she was a daughter of the late Paul Richard and Maggie Jane Wiles Waters. She was a homemaker and a member of Northside Baptist Church of Calhoun Falls.
Survivors include two daughters, Dianne M. Rice of Elberton, Ga., and Jane M. Hayes of Anderson; a brother, James M. “Buddy” Waters of Iva; four sisters, Polly Healan of Cokesbury, Linda Fleming of Calhoun Falls and Johnnie Bradford and Bobbie Johnson, both of Elberton; six grandsons and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 Thursday at Northside Baptist Church of Calhoun Falls, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Dalton and the Rev. Jerry Hayes. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Abbeville.
Visitation is from 7-9 Wednesday at Calhoun Falls Funeral Home.

Wallace Stone
HONEA PATH — Wallace Leon Stone, 77, formerly of 302 Central Ave., passed away Jan. 7, 2001, at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.
Born in Honea Path, he was a son of the late Broadus E. and Lindy Cooley Stone. A World War II Army veteran, he served in Europe and received a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars. He was a retired employee of Chiquola Manufacturing, a member of the American Legion and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane Rooks of Honea Path; a brother, Furman Stone of Honea Path; two sisters, Genette McGregor of Honea Path and Ellie Powell of Greenwood; a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Wednesday at Pruitt Funeral Home, with Garnett Hanley officiating. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Family members are at their respective homes.
