ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. — Ree M. VanHuss, 88, of 111 Cecil VanHuss Road, widow of the late Cecil G. VanHuss, passed away Jan. 27, 2001, at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton.
Born in Carter County, Tenn., she was a member of Siam Baptist Church. She was predeceased in death by a sister.
Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Estep of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Nancy Woodard of Donalds, three grandsons and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Siam Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jack Roddy officiating. Burial will be in the Nove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel, 212 N. Main St., Elizabethton, Tenn.

GREENWOOD — James Major White, 88, of 119 Major Drive, husband of Kathleen H. White, passed away Jan. 27, 2001, at his home.
Born in Rutherford County, N.C., he was a son of the late W. Roland and Dovie Koon White. He was retired from Satterfield Construction Co. and a member of South Greenwood Church of God.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Katherine Sorrow and Elizabeth Thompson, both of Greenwood; five sons, Hugh White of Augusta, Ga., Eugene White and Joel White, both of Columbia, Lawrence White of Calhoun Falls and Ray White of Greenwood; six sisters, Pearl Howell of Rutherford, N.C., Reba Conklin of Columbia, Florence Pauls and Hazel Quate, both of Greensboro, N.C., Doris Burkett of Orlando, Fla. and Sharmel Paschall of Winston Salem, N.C.; two brothers, Clarence White of Greenwood and Carl Ray White of Charlotte; 30 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 Monday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Carroll Harrison and Cullen Hicks. Burial will be at Martins Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church, Lincolnton, Ga.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Sorrow, Glenn White, Jon White, Thomas Suttles, Craig White, Owens Gary and Tony Morgan.
Honorary escorts will be Dr. Russell Hall, Dr. John Holman and Frank Weeks.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Yvonne Lynette Wideman
HODGES — Yvonne Lynette Jackson Wideman, of 110 Brown Drive, wife of Bobby L. Wideman, passed away Jan. 26, 2001.
Born in Ft. Devens, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Felton L. Jackson and Lottie Brown Jackson. She attended Greenwood High School and was a graduate of Benedict College with a master’s degree in early childhood education. She was a member of Young’s Chapel Baptist Church, sang on the choir at Tabernacle Baptist Church and the Martin Luther King Jr. Mass Choir. She was a 4-k teacher for Maywood Elementary School for 15 years. She was also a member of the South Carolina Education Association and a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority.
Survivors include her husband and mother.
Services will be at 3 Monday at Morris Chapel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Bernard White, assisted by the Revs. Amos Harling and Robert Knox. Rev. W.W. Henderson will be presiding. Burial will be in Oak Brook Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Pallbearers will be Deacons and Trustees of Young’s Chapel Baptist Church and Holy Spring Baptist Church.
Flower bearers will be the Greenwood High School Class of 1977.
Honorary escorts will be Faculty and Staff of Merrywood Elementary School.

WARE SHOALS — Gerald Christopher Allen, 36, of 578 Power House Road, husband of Janice Kennedy Allen, passed away Jan. 26, 2001, at his home.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of Jerry and Linda Terry Allen. He attended The Church of God of Prophecy and was manager of Gilstrap and Sons Textiles Company Inc.
Survivors include his wife; his parents of Ware Shoals; two stepdaughters, Angie Gilstrap and Tonya G. Smith, both of Ware Shoals; paternal grandmother, Ruby Allen of Ware Shoals; maternal grandfather, Fred Terry of Greenwood; and four step-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Tuesday at Parker-White Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop, the Rev. Wayne Wicker and the Rev. Dr. Roy Suggs. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Born in Edgefield County, he was a member of Springfield Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Stephone Bowman and Howard Bowman, both of Johnston and Ike Bowman of Edgefield; nine sisters, Essie Barnes of Edgefield, Lillie Mae Williams, Janie Sullivan, Hattie Weaver and Katie Covington, all of Greenwood, Martha Jackson and Gussie Mays, both of Aiken, Lucille Suswell of New York and Josephine Gilliam of Newberry; a brother, William Gilliam of Edgefield; and three grandchildren.

Duward Brunson Sr.
GREENWOOD — John Duward Brunson Sr., 70, of 125 Lawton St., husband of Mildred Vickery Brunson, passed away Jan. 28, 2001, at his home.
Born in Summerton, he was a son of the late Hugh Steven and Viola Barrineau Brunson. He was a graduate of Summerton High School, attended Clemson College and retired from Abney Mills Automotive Shop. He served in the National Guard and was a member and deacon of First Assembly of God Church and the Adult Sunday School Class of the church. He was a Mason.
Survivors include his wife of the home;two daughters, Cindy B. Boozer of Gautier, Miss., and Diane B. Owens of Greenwood; two sons, John D. Brunson Jr. of Cross Hill and Mark Brunson of Lawrenceville, Ga.; three brothers, Rick Brunson of Manning, the Rev. Ashley Brunson of Ridgeland and Raymond Brunson of Greenwood; three sisters, Katheryn Harrington of Sumter, Gladys Griffin of Manning and Agnes Pittman of Cayce; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

OCALA, Fla. — Elizabeth Ann Rhoden Henderson, 79, widow of Johnnie W. Rhoden Sr., passed away Jan. 26, 2001, in Ocala.
Formerly of Lake City, she lived there for 45 years before moving to Ocala. She was a charter member of Parkview Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Ann Ayers of St. Cloud, Anita Louise Rhoden of Ocala and Elaine Rhoden Buist of Greenwood, S.C.; a brother, William Edward Wheatley of Tallahassee; and five grandchildren.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Flora Estella Cobb Stansell. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Robert Lee Lowry of Cary, N.C.; a sister, Mamie DiFilippo of Kennett Square, Pa.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Hawthorne of Abbeville and Mrs. James (Evelyn) Burdette of Trion, Ga.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Born in Dorchester County, she was a daughter of the late Adam David and Virginia Crook Proctor. She was a retired registered nurse, retiring, from the Barnwell County Health Department. She was a member of the S.C. State Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association and Barnwell First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Winston Morris of Cookeville; a sister, Mrs. Frank (Mary Lou) Addy of Greenwood; and two granddaughters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Barnwell First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Steve Burnette and the Rev. Posey Belcher. Burial will be in Barnwell United Methodist Church Cemetery.
