GREENWOOD — Idalie Lark, 69, of 301 N. Hospital St. (Brewer Boarding Home), passed away Jan. 22, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
She was the last member of her immediate family.

ABBEVILLE — Golphin Myers “Nub” McCurley, 81, of 302 Wilewood Road, widower of Elizabeth Hall McCurley, passed away Jan. 22, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.

SALUDA — Services for John Pressely Phillips, of Route 5, Box 46, will be at 3 Thursday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Saluda, conducted by the Rev. Nikita S. Canty and Pastor Clarence Kenner. The body will be placed in the church at 2. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are friends of the family.

Opal Pitt
WARE SHOALS — Opal Griffith Pitt, 82, of 10 Sparks Ave., wife of Robert Pitt, passed away Jan. 21, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
Born in Jefferson, Ga., she was a daughter of the late George Washington and Kate Boatwright Griffith. She was a retired payroll clerk for Riegel Textile Corp. She was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church and the Boyd Bobo Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Robert S. “Bobby” Pitt Jr. of Laurens; a daughter, Millie Pitt Thomas of Fountain Inn; two brothers, Virgil J. Griffith of Saluda and James B. Griffith of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. H.O. (Katie Lee) Mullinax and Mrs. Fred W. (Lota) Payne, both of Ware Shoals and Mrs. Earl (Vivian) Webb of Saluda; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Leon Jones and the Rev. Dr. Floyd Parker.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Parker-White Funeral Home.

Margie Hill Williams
LAURENS — Margie Hill Williams, of 709 S. Harper St. Extension, passed away Jan. 20, 2001, at her home.
She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, Cross Hill.
Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Nance, Hattie Williams, Diane Latimore and Wanda Watts, all of Laurens; two sons, Alfonso Williams of Laurens and Reginald Williams of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Richard Hill of Charlotte, N.C.; six sisters, Louise Suber of Gray Court, Geneva Grant, Maggie Cunningham, Mary Woodruff and Nancy Hill, all of Laurens and Maggie Simpson of Charlotte; 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 Wednesday at Zion Hill Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Johnny P. Caldwell. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Josephine Reynolds Baskin
CALHOUN FALLS — Josephine Reynolds Baskin, 84, of 104 Eastbranch Road, Columbia, formerly of Calhoun Falls, passed away Jan. 21, 2001, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center in Columbia.
Born in Calhoun Falls, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Spearman E. and Grace Ann Weir Reynolds. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, Atlanta, Allen University, Columbia, and Columbia University in New York. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and taught in Abbeville County public schools. She was a guidance counselor at Myrtilla Miner Elementary School, Washington , D.C., where she retired in 1986. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Washington , D.C., the District of Columbia School Counselors Association, the National Board of Certified Counselors Inc. and Top Ladies of Distinction.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Edith R. Holmes of Columbia and Mrs. Sarah R. Calhoun of Greenwood; and two brothers, Cornell Reynolds of Greenwood and Joseph Reynolds of Due West.
Services will be at 2:30 Thursday at Shady Grove AME Church, Abbeville, conducted by Dr. B.J. Glover and the Rev. R.L. Johnson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30.
Visitation is at the home of a sister, Mrs. Sarah Calhoun, 103 Empire Circle, Aspen Heights, Greenwood.

Dallas Buchanan
GREENWOOD — Samuel Dallas Buchanan, 91, of 425 Circle Drive, widower of Frances Dow Buchanan, passed away Jan. 23, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Parksville, he was a son of the late Richard O. and Alice Adams Buchanan. He was a former employee of Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club, and a security guard with Self Memorial Hospital. He was a charter member of New Market Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Hazel Martin of Greenwood; three sisters, Alice Lester and Lucy Simpson, both of Greenwood and Mary Syms of Warner-Robins, Ga.; three brothers, J.B. Buchanan and Luther Buchanan, both of Greenwood and Robert Buchanan of Brighton, Colo.; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Buddy Wiles officiating.
Visitation is at the cemetery after the services.
The family is at the home of his daughter, 141 Devon Park.

ABBEVILLE — Golphin Myers McCurley, “Nub,” 81, of 302 Wilewood Road, widower of Elizabeth Hall McCurley, passed away Jan. 22, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Eugene Fields and Mamie Myers McCurley. He was a World War II Army veteran and a retiree of CSX Railroad. He was a Mason, Clinton Lodge No. 3 AFM, and a Shriner with Hejaz Shrine Temple. He was also a member of Abbeville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Lawrence E. McCurley of Greenwood; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 Thursday at Harris Funeral Home. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Long Cane Cemetery.
Visitation is from 12:30-1:30 Thursday at the funeral home.

Olene S. Murphy
JOANNA — Olene S. Murphy, 91, of 407 Browning Ave., wife of William Charles Murphy, passed away Jan. 22, 2001, at the Summit Place in Simpsonville.
Born in Lexington County, she was a daughter of the late John and Victoria Bouknight Sharpe. She was a retired employee of Joanna Mills, a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Joanna.
Survivors include her husband of the home.
Services were at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church of Joanna, with entombment in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.

Elisha B. Williams Jr.
AIKEN — Elisha B. Williams Jr., 75, of 134 Confederate Road, passed away Jan. 21, 2001.
He was a member of Monetta Baptist Church.
Survivors include six sons, Arthur Williams and Karon Williams, both of Aiken, Richard Williams of Ridge Spring, Thomas Williams and Elisha Williams III, both of Birmingham, Ala., and David Williams of Columbia; two daughters, Sarah Holmes and Nancy Dairon, both of Aiken; a sister, Elizabeth Phillips of Leesville; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Thursday at Monetta Baptist Church, with burial with B & L Memorial Park, Leesville.

Malcolm R. Banks
SALUDA — Malcolm Ray Banks, 81, of 206 S. Jennings St., husband of Ada Bledsoe Banks, passed away Jan. 24, 2001, at Saluda Nursing Center.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Julian Thomas and Ella Dorn Banks. He owned and operated Banks Supermarket for many years, and then became a dispatcher and deputy sheriff with Saluda County. After retiring, he worked with Ramey Funeral Home. A charter member of Saluda Baptist Church, he served as church treasurer for 25 years, as a deacon and on many church committees. He was also a volunteer fireman with the Saluda Fire Department for 45 years.
Survivors include his wife of Saluda; a son, Ronnie Banks of Huntsville, Ala.; two daughters, Jackie Insalaco of Saluda and Madelyn Brown of Lexington, N.C.; a brother, J.T. Banks of Saluda; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3:30 Friday at Saluda Baptist Church, with burial in Travis Park Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-8:30 tonight at Ramey Funeral Home.
