Betty Ann Lambert Woodward, 71, widow of Dr. Arthur Stuart Woodward, died Saturday, April 9, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston.
Born in Clarendon County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Lambert, Sr. and the late Pamie Ridgill Lambert.
Mrs. Woodward was a retired realtor with Prudential Carolina Realty and was a graduate of the McLeod Infirmary School of Nursing. She attended Sea Coast Community Church in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
Surviving are three sons, Mark Woodward of Greenville, Larry Woodward and wife Nancy Lee of Sumter, Bryan Woodward and wife Tracie of Summerville; two daughters, Lorinda Richter and husband Terry of Greenwood, Cheryl Brunslik and husband John of Petaluma, California; a brother, Daniel Lambert, Jr and wife Jeanette of Manning; a sister, Joyce Shorter of Sumter; 9 grandchildren, Kyle Richter of Greenwood, SC, Paige Richter of Greenwood, Morgan Brunslik, Kristin Brunslik both of Petaluma, California, Kayla Woodward, Brandon Woodward both of Summerville, Roland Woodward, Tucker Woodward and Liza Woodward all of Sumter.
Mrs. Woodward was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Nevelle Lambert.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Monday at Old Fort Baptist Church in Summerville, SC with the Rev. Dr. Eric Lethco and Kyle Richter officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home of her son, Bryan Woodward, 201 Travelers Rest Blvd., Summerville, SC.

Mildred "Millie" Sarah Copeland
1936-2005
Mildred “Millie” Sarah Copeland, 68, widow of Major Strother S. Copeland, died Sunday, April 10, 2005 at the Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia.
Born in Mt. Holly, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Dubell and the late Mildred Witcraft Dubell.
Mrs. Copeland attended Louisiana College. She was a former real estate agent, a past employee of Bell Telephone Company and was currently owner and operator of Typing Plus. She was an accomplished artist in watercolors, was a former President of the Sumter Artist Guild, and co-organizer of the Fall Fiesta. She was a member of the Retired Military Officer’s Wives Club, and a former volunteer at the SPCA.
Surviving are a son, Joseph C. Pike of Myrtle Beach; two daughters, Patricia Lee Copeland of Sumter and Carolyne Edith Copeland of Denver, Colorado; three grandchildren; and three beloved Labrador dogs.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Gennello.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

Margaret Anna James Warmoth
1917-2005
Margaret Anna James Warmoth, 87, wife of 69 years of Edward Louis Warmoth, died peacefully Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at the home of her daughter, after suffering a stroke in July.
Born November 24, 1917, in Greer, S. C., she was a daughter of the late Joseph Henry James and the late Susie Owen James.
Mrs. Warmoth was educated in the Columbia and Chester schools. She and her husband settled in Sumter in 1940, where they raised their family. A Christian private in her faith, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she and her family attended. She was formerly employed as a Secretary for Dr. Richard Furman Baker. In earlier years, Margaret loved gardening and won numerous awards for her talents in floral arranging as a member and past President of the Poinsett Garden Club. She loved bridge, playing with one group every other week for over 50 years, and others in recent years as her friends departed. She cared deeply for the Sumter community where she served as a member and Chairman of the Sumter City-County Planning Commission for several years. She served as a volunteer of the Grey Ladies of the Red Cross. A knowledgeable and accomplished genealogist, she was an active member of the Sumter Historical and Genealogical Societies. Her children will remember her happiest times camping beside a stream in the mountains when camping was a rare adventure. Above all, she loved her family.
Surviving are her husband of Sumter; two sons, Edward Louis Warmoth, Jr. of Charleston and Francis James “Frank” Warmoth and wife Zoe Rhame Warmoth of Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter, Margaret Anna “Meg” Player and husband Tommy of Sumter; a sister, Sara Stringfellow of Rock Hill; seven grandchildren, Wren Cook, Tommy Cook, Holly Jackson Garrity, Katie Jackson Atolli, Thomas Player, James Warmoth, and Anna Warmoth Carbone; three great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Tommy Cook of Columbia; a loving extended family of nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She will be eternally missed by those who loved her.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Sue Cook; her siblings, Joe, Ruth and Elliott; and a great-granddaughter, Sara Anne Garrity.
The family would like to thank Tuomey Hospice and the wonderful people who devote their lives to caring for those approaching death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Taylor and Rev. Phil Jones officiating.
Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery.

Johnnie Pearl Cook Truesdale, 91, widow of Sidney J. Truesdale, Sr., died Thursday, April 14, 2005 at the Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Camden, she was a daughter of the late George S. Cook and the late Mary Truesdale Cook.
Mrs. Truesdale retired from Roses Department Store with 18 years of service.
Surviving are two sons, John B. Truesdale of Winnsboro and Robert “Bobby” Truesdale of Cassatt; three daughters, Alma Bowen of Camden, Thelma Sellers of Lugoff, and Melba Blair of Charleston; a sister-in-law, Idalene Baker of Lugoff; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two special friends, Yvonne Seigley and Bobby Seigley both of Dalzell.
She was preceded in death by two sons, George Truesdale and Sidney Truesdale, Jr.; two brothers, Jim Cook and Henry Cook; and a sister, Eliza Cook.
Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. Marion Watkins and Rev. Albert Truesdale, Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in the Providence Southern Methodist Church Cemetery.
Grandchildren will serve as Pallbearers.

Helen Brockington Richardson, 79, widow of James “Jimmy” Richardson died, Friday, April 15, 2005.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late George Herman Bodeen and the late Alva Larson Bodeen.
Mrs. Richardson was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter and attended Northwestern University. She was a member of the numerous Garden and Bridge Clubs. She was formerly employed as a legal clerk for the South Carolina House of Representatives and was former owner of The Brass Lantern.
Mrs. Richardson was twice married first to the late Dr. F. S. Brockington then to the late James “Jimmy” Smith Richardson.
Surviving are three sons, Rhett Brockington and wife Liz of Charlotte, N.C.,Wayne Brockington of Columbia and Richard Brockington and wife Kathy of Orangeburg, and; two daughters, Sandra Noe and husband Allan of Virginia and Sheri Green and husband David of Lake City; a brother, George H. Bodeen, Jr. and wife Nancy of Chicago, Illinois; a step-son, Jay Richardson and wife Karola of Sumter; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Helena R. Fickling.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter with the Rev. Dr. John Barr officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

Born in Bladenboro, NC, she was a daughter of the late A.M. Chance and the late Bessie Douglas Chance.
Mrs. House attended St. James Lutheran Church and was a retired administrative assistant with Sumter School District #2.
Surviving are her husband of Sumter; a son, Mark S. House and wife Allison of Sumter; a daughter, Lisa M. Roupe and husband Brent of Sumter; a sister, Hazel Ward of Georgetown; and 3 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 Am Wednesday in the chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Metze officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
