GREENWOOD — Harriett Kay Friar, 73, of 301 Eastman Drive, wife of Harry M. Friar, passed away June 24, 2000, at St. Francis Hospital of Greenville.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Ralph H. and Polly Morton Kay. She was retired from Greenwood Mills, Harris Plant and was a member of the American Legion Post 20 Auxiliary. She was a member of South Greenwood Church of God and the Sanctuary Sunday School Class.
Survivors include husband of the home; a son, Harry T. Friar of Anderson; two daughters, Barbara Brewer of North Augusta and Sharon LaCount of Anderson; three sisters, Hazel Smith and Alice Cooper, both of Greenville, and Carolyn Gilbert of Holly Hill, Fla.; a brother, Ralph Kay of Greenville; ten grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 Tuesday at South Greenwood Church of God, conducted by the Revs. Milton Hannah and James Wiley. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are the nephews.
Honorary escorts will be the members of the Clara Mae Wells Bible Class and the Sanctuary Class of South Greenwood Church of God.
Visitation is from 6-8 today at Harley Funeral Home.

GREENWOOD — Truman Crow Henderson, of 170 Rutledge Road, wife of C. Allen Henderson, passed away June 26, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.

Ruth H. Massey
WARE SHOALS — Ruth Huff Massey, 90, of 15563 Indian Mound Road, widow of George Wesley Massey, passed away June 25, 2000, at her home.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Lemual and Anna Cason Huff. She was employed by Riegal Textile Corporation where she worked in the sewing department. She was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church and a member of The Order of Easter Star, Brewerton Lodge 144.
Survivors include a son, George Massey Jr. of Starr; three daughters, Mrs. D.K. Jewell Lee and Mrs. William Janett Sprouse, both of Ware Shoals, and Mrs. William Etolia Elledge of York; three brothers, John D. Huff and Douglas Huff, both of Greenville, and Walter Huff of Belton; seven sisters, Hattie Martin of Johnston, Mary Yarbray of Atlanta, Virginia Pervine and Bobbie Williams, both of Greenville, Kathleen Cantrell of Belton, Sybil Green of Charleston and Edna Cook of Lexington; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 Tuesday at Oak Hill United Methodist Church, conducted by the Revs. Barney Fowler and Tom Lewis. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Kuker Lee IV, William Elledge, Billy Sprouse, Wesley Massey III, Johnny Massey and Butler Sprouse.
Visitation is from 5-8 today at the home and at Oak Hill United Methodist Church from 10-11 Tuesday.

Henry Lee Parkman
GREENWOOD — Henry Lee Parkman, 59, husband of Julia Mae Gladney Parkman, passed away June 25, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Saluda County, he was the son of James Parkman and the late Gablue Gilliam Parkman. He was a retired mill operator at the Old Southern Brick Yard. He was a member of Willow Spring Baptist Church and attended Antioch Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school class. He was a former guitar player for the Angel Tone Singers.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, the Rev. Ronnie Parkman of Greenwood; an adopted son, Bryant Williams of the home; an adopted daughter, Latoya Gladney of the home; three sisters, Annie Lue Parkman of Providence, RI, Rosa Mae Parkman of Greenwood and Ashley Patterson of Fayetteville, N.C.; and a grandchild.
The family is at the home.

James E. Thomasson
ABBEVILLE — James Edward ‘Screwdriver’ Thomasson, 75, of 108 Acorn Hill Dr., husband of Marion ‘Jeanette’ McCurry Thomasson, passed away June 24, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Newberry, he was a son of the late B.L. and Ruth Gause Thomasson. He was retired from Milliken Textiles. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving The USS Harrison during WWII.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Steven Edward Thomasson, James Larry Thomasson and Robert Michael Thomasson, all of Abbeville; a brother, Robert Arnold Thomasson of Abbeville; a sister, Clara LaNell Thomasson Davis of Iva; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home conducted by Revs. Earl Hartley and Alvin Hodges. The burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation is at the home of his son, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Thomasson, 1477 Rock Hill Road, Abbeville.

Kay Williams Jr.
AIKEN — Kay Williams Jr., 74, of 545 Knollview Dr., passed away June 24, 2000, at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home of Anderson.
Born in Ninety Six, he was a son of the late Mr. Kay Williams Sr. and Sallie McCollough Williams. He was a retired retailed salesman and a WWII Veteran for the U.S. Army.
Survivors include two sons, David W. Williams of Aiken and Lynn Williams of Port Orange, Fla.; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be at 4 today at Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville, conducted by Dr. W.C. Lowe.
Visitation is at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley.

Charles L. Wolfe
WASHINGTON, GA - Charles L. Wolfe, 80, of 208 Lovelace Way, husband of Dorothy Taylor Wolfe, passed away June 24, 2000, at Lake Crossing Health Center in Appling, Ga.
Born in Wilkes County, Wolfe was the son of the late Noke Wolfe and the late Mattie Sue McNeeley Wolfe. He was a shipping manager for Almar Manufacturing Company before he retired. He served in the Army and fought in World War II. He received the WWII victory medal, the American Theater Ribbon, the EAMET Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of VFW Post 5899.
Survivors include his wife of the home, two sons, Charles L. Wolfe Jr. of McCormick and Tommy Wolfe of Washington ; one daughter, Jeannie Wolfe of Jasper, Ga.; seven sisters, Annette White of Bath, Lois Williams of Augusta, Ga, Betty Mills of Lexington, Dorothy Faye Wolfe of Milledgeville, Ga., Agnes Wilson, of Rockmart, Ga., Marvelle Thornton and of Myrtice Stevens of Washington , Ga.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

HODGES — Blanche Anderson, 92, of 4306 Cokesbury Road, wife of Ashber Anderson Sr., passed away June 27, 2000, at the home of her daughter, Lillie Wright.
She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of Laurens; three sons, Barron Tallie Anderson of Detroit, Mich., Ashber Anderson Jr. of Hodges and Milton Edward Anderson of Abbeville; two daughters, Etoide Morgan and Lillie Wright, both of Hodges; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Etoide Morgan, 4316 Cokesbury Road.

LAURENS — Donald Ray Cheek, 46, of Bermuda Road, passed away June 25, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Laurens County, he was a son of Lavert Cheek Gambrell of Laurens and the late Harold Bobo. He was a former employee of Dr. Zack Seymour and Metal Casters. He was a member of Union Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Terri Montjoy of Waterloo.
Services will be at 2 today at Kennedy Mortuary, conducted by the Rev. Ronnie Blackwell. Burial will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 1-2 today at the mortuary.

Truman Henderson
GREENWOOD — Truman Crow Henderson, of 170 Rutledge Road, wife of C. Allen Henderson, passed away June 26, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late John Simpson and Minnie Wooten Crow. She attended Lander College and was a graduate of Peterson’s Business College in Greenwood. She was retired as a medical secretary from the office of Dr. Elbert Adams and was formerly employed by Dr. C.J. Scurry. She also served as a former secretary to the Postal Inspector in Greenwood. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Benson Sunday School Class and the Dement-Waldrep Circle of the Church. She was a Charter Member of the Thalia Garden Club and served as President of the Greenwood Federation of Garden Clubs in 1947.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sisters, Katherine Bledsoe of Clinton and Hazel C. McCary of Greenwood; a brother, Marion Crow of Monetta.
Services will be at 3 Wednesday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. J. William Harris. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Crow, Wayne Crow, Benny Threatt, Carroll Barker, Gerald Rauton and Brooks Moore.
Honorary escorts will be the Benson Sunday School Class and the Dement-Waldrep Circle of the Church.
