ANDERSON — Ralph C. Powell, 70, of 1020 Country View Road, husband of Arvetta Baskin Powell, passed away June 16, 2000.
He was a retired supervisor with Wometco Vending, a member of Eureka Baptist Church and a Korean War Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, the Rev. Ronnie Powell of Aiken, Melvin Powell of Townville and Joel Powell of Anderson; a sister, Daisy P. Roland of Greenwood; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services were held Monday at Eureka Baptist Church, with entombment in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Mae Bell Preston
RIDGE SPRING — Mae Bell Preston, 54, wife of Charles Preston, passed away June 16, 2000.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Anthony Preston; a daughter, Betty Ann Waldo; a brother, Bobby Mitchell; and two sisters, Rosa Lee Mitchell of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Bell Odom of Aiken.
Services were Monday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Johnston, with burial in the church cemetery.
The family is at 206 Johnston St., Ridge Spring.

John W. Robinson Sr.
NEWBERRY — John W. Robinson Sr., of 1910 Lincoln Court, husband of Verna Suber Robinson, passed away June 15, 2000.
Born in Newberry County, he was a son of the late James Eddie Robinson and Stevie Lucille Moon.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Glendora Glenn of Silverstreet and Brenda Trapp of Newberry; two sons, the Rev. John Robinson Jr. of Columbia and Larry Robinson of Newberry; three sisters, Linda A. Robinson, Betty Wilson and Judith Robinson; six brothers, Arthur Robinson, Eddie Robinson Jr., Lee Robinson, Otis Robinson, Riley Robinson and Billy Robinson; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 Wednesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with burial in Newberry Memorial Gardens.

Francis M. Setzler
WHITMIRE — Francis Marion Setzler, 89, of Church Street, husband of Mary Lillian Metts Setzler, passed away June 19, 2000, at National Health Care of Greenwood.
Born in Whitmire, he was a son of the late James Gist and Mellie Duckett Setzler. He received an associate of science degree from Clemson College in 1933 and retired as a cloth room supervisor with J.P. Stevens Co. He was a Navy World War II veteran and a member, former deacon and trustee emeritus of First Baptist Church of Whitmire.
Survivors include his wife of Greenwood; a son, Frank M. Setzler of Greenwood; and two grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be held Wednesday in Whitmire Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Gray Funeral Home.

GREENVILLE — Jimmy Ed Wilder, 56, of 14 Rockview Court, passed away June 15, 2000.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of Bernice Kirk Wilder and the late James Emory Wilder. He was an Air Force veteran and an employee of D.M. Kaye Trucking.
Survivors include his mother; three sisters, Irene Smith of Pell City, Ala., Barbara Grey of Chipley, Fla., and Sarah Losh of Waterloo; and two brothers, James Alvin Wilder of Cullman, Ala., and Clifton John Wilder of Taylors.
No services are planned.

HONEA PATH — Jessie Pearle Spoon Boniface, 77, widow of Francis Joseph Boniface, passed away June 20, 2000.
Born in Fountain Inn, she was a daughter of the late Henry Spoon and Jessie Forrester Spoon. She was a homemaker and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Clinton.
Survivors include two sons, Carroll Henry Shealy of Greenville and Lewis Joseph Boniface of Honea Path; three daughters, Dr. Lori Ann Boniface Hammel of Berrien Springs, Mich., Theresa Boniface Li of Portland, Ore., and Elizabeth Boniface-Jackson of Sacramento, Calif.; three sisters, Grace Black of Anderson, LaVern Clark of Clinton and Henrietta Hazel of Mauldin; four brothers, Bruce Spoon and Grady Spoon, both of Clinton, Bob Spoon of Greenville and David Spoon of Hodges; and 12 grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation is at the home of a son, Lewis Boniface, from 3-9 today, and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive.

Frances Brownlee
DUE WEST — Frances Louise Brownlee, 85, passed away June 11, 2000, at the Roger Huntington Nursing Center.
Born in Due West, she was a daughter of the late William Olin and Alice Winn Brownlee. She received an associate degree from Centre College, Danville, Ky., and was a former teacher and secretary to the president of the Palmetto Bank in Laurens. She was a member of the Business Women’s Club and First Presbyterian Church in Greenville.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Graveside memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Greenville Presbyterian Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Dr. George Wilson.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Oasie Clark Jr. passed away June 18, 2000, at Providence Hospital.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Trinidad Baptist Church, 1611 Benning Road N.E., with burial in Fort Lincoln Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.

PELZER — Walter Lee Davis, 78, formerly of Conner Street, passed away June 19, 2000, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Walter and Ellie Davenport Davis. He was a farmer and was of the Church of God faith.
Survivors include three sons, Tommy Davis of Pelzer, Dale Davis of Donalds and Frankie Simpson of Williamston; and six grandchildren.

Murray L. Gunter
SALUDA — Murray Legare Gunter Jr., 80, of Route 6, Johnston Highway, husband of Lillie Merchant Gunter, passed away June 19, 2000, at Edgefield County Hospital.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Murray Legare Gunter Sr. and Mattie Crout Gunter. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was the owner of Little Bit of Everything Antique Shop. He was a former employee of Palmetto Hosiery Mill, a farmer and a licensed barber. He was a Mason, a Shriner, a civic leader and a member of the American Legion. He was a leader for the Boy Scouts of America for 50 years and received the Silver Beaver and Lamb awards. He was a former emergency preparedness coordinator for Saluda County, a volunteer with the Saluda County Museum and a member of Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church, where he was a teacher for the Adult Men’s Sunday School.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Murray Legare Gunter III of Cayce and D. Rodney Gunter of Newberry; three grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church, with burial in Travis Park Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-8:30 tonight at Ramey Funeral Home.

FOUNTAIN INN — Albert Dewitt Manley, 58, of 205 S. Nelson Drive, husband of Ludie Mae Manley, passed away June 19, 2000.
He worked for Casons Styling for 33 years, served in the Army for three years and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Sharon Fowler and Donna McCoy, both of Fountain Inn and Lisa Gibson of Mauldin; two brothers, Marshall Manley of Laurens and Roger Manley of Greenwood; step-grandfather, John Phelan of Mauldin; step-grandmother, Odessa Manley of Greenwood; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 Thursday at Bible Baptist Church, with burial in Cannon Memorial Park.
