ANDERSON — Lewis W. King, 87, of Magnolia’s of Anderson, passed away Feb. 2, 2001.
He retired from Fovil Manufacturing Co., Abbeville, and was a charter member of the Abbeville Rotary Club and High Meadows Country Club. He was also a Paul Harris Fellow, a board member of the S.C. Blood Center and a member of Concord Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Stephen L. King of Abbeville; a daughter, Sheila K. Brown of Anderson; a brother, Hall O. King of Clinton; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were Sunday at McDougald Funeral Home, with burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Nannie Lou Pope
GREENWOOD — Services for Nannie Lou Pope, of 704 Sweetwater Road, Lot 12, will be at 3 Wednesday at Morris Chapel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Anthony McCallum, assisted by the Rev. Thessa Smith and the Rev. Dora Ann White. Burial will be in Evening Star Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Pallbearers are Tony Cain, Foster Armstead, Edward Dye, Kevin Martin, James Henry Reed, Billy Moore, Anthony Betsill and David Jones.
Flower bearers are Ashley Nicole Anderson, Annie Jean Anderson, Mary Jenkins, Jo Ann Calliham, Clara Cason, Valeria Faye Pope and Crystal Baker.

GREENWOOD — Willie Mae Watts, 94, formerly of 2623 Montague Ave. Extension, widow of Erskine W. Watts, passed away Feb. 4, 2001 at Magnolia Manor.
Visitation is from 7-9 Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home.

Anderson Aiken Sr.
GREENVILLE — Anderson “Butch” Aiken Sr., of 418 Pinckney St., husband of Eunice W. Aiken, passed away Feb. 1, 2001, at his home.
Born in Abbeville, he was a son of the late Walter and Willie Anderson Aiken. He was a World War II Army veteran and a former employee of The Greenville News.
Survivors include his wife of Easley; two sons, Anderson Aiken Jr. of Greenville and Isaac Aiken of the home; a brother, Roosevelt Aiken of Abbeville; a sister, Mammie A. Burton of New York City; and four grandchildren.
Services were at 11 a.m. today at Webb-Settles Funeral Home, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Mamie Sue Hawkins
SALUDA — Mamie Sue Cockrell Hawkins, 75, widow of Horace Louis Hawkins, passed away Feb. 3, 2001, at Alvista Care Home, Greenville, Ga.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Baz and Estelle Rowe Cockrell. She was a homemaker and a member of Port Royal United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Horace L. Hawkins of Saluda; two brothers, Paul Cockrell of Saluda and Buck Cockrell of Prosperity; two sisters, Bobbie Kyser of Wilmington, N.C., and Sarah Schumpert of Batesburg; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Wednesday at Ramey Funeral Home, with burial in Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Lena Kneece Pate
WEST COLUMBIA — Lena Kneece Pate, 79, wife of William S. “Buddy” Pate, passed away Feb. 4, 2001.
Born in Ridge Spring, she was a daughter of the late John and Emma Riddlehoover Kneece. Formerly of Graniteville, she had lived in West Columbia since 1952. She was a member of Green Hill Baptist Church, where she served in the nursery department for 32 years. Survivors include her husband of West Columbia; daughters, Mrs. Jimmy (Connie) Feaster, Mrs. Thomas (Brenda) Jeffers and Mrs. Wayne (Judy) Ashe, all of West Columbia and Mrs. Jeff (Ann) Moser of North Augusta; a sister, Lucy Kneece of Graniteville; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Mark Hathcox at 2 Wednesday at Green Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in Graniteville Cemetery.
Pallbearers are deacons of the church.
Honorary pallbearers are grandsons.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington.

Beatrice Poore Redd
ANDERSON — Beatrice Poore Redd, 80, of 608 Highway 29 N. Bypass, passed away Feb. 4, 2001, at Saint Francis Hospital.
Born in Abbeville, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Lula Waters Simmons. She was a retired textile worker and formerly worked with Meals on Wheels. She was first married to the late Fred Poore, and second to late James A. Redd.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas Poore and Jackie Poore, both of Anderson; a daughter, Glenda Poore of the home; a sister, Mozelle Tyner of Anderson; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 Wednesday at McDougald Funeral Home, with burial in New Silverbrook Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

GREENWOOD — Willie Mae Watts, 93, formerly of 2623 Montague Ave. Extension, widow of Erskine W. Watts, passed away Feb. 4, 2001, at Magnolia Manor.
Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late John and Annie Sanders Cobb. She retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant, and was a member of Mathews United Methodist Church and the Ladies Sunday School Class.
Survivors include a son, William Watts of Fort Meade, Fla.; a sister, Frances Rudder of Calhoun Falls; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Wednesday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Nellie Cloninger and the Rev. Todd Staples. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are David Blackmon, Dennis Blackmon, Darryl Blackmon, Wendal Boggs, Michael Johnson, Michael Porterfield, Casey Rudder and Ansel Chapman.

Lloyd Wheeler
SALUDA — Lloyd Carrol Wheeler, 61, of 103 Sunset St., husband of Ann Riley Wheeler, passed away Feb. 5, 2001.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of Carrie Banks Wheeler and the late Luther Emanuel Wheeler. He was a retired employee of Monsanto, a farmer and a member of Saluda County Cattleman’s Association and Saluda County Young Farmers Association. He was also a member of Saluda Baptist Church and Emanuel Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Kevin L. Wheeler of Saluda; a daughter, Carol W. Rachels of Chester; his mother of Saluda; a brother, Luther Eugene Wheeler of Aiken; a sister, Evelyn Ann Wheeler of Saluda; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 5 Wednesday at Saluda Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Norman Rogers and the Rev. Burton Campbell. Burial will be in West Travis Park Cemetery.
