ERVIN B."BUDDY" TILLER
Graveside services for Ervin B. "Buddy" Tiller, 77, were held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Charles Boswell officiated and Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is in charge.
Mr. Tiller died Sunday, June 23, 2002. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of the late James E. and Mae Belle Truett Tiller. He was a member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Hejaz Shrine Temple for 34 years.
Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Boan Tiller of Hartsville; sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Ann Tiller, Joel and Joey Tiller, all of Hartsville, Johnny and Debra Tiller of Savannah, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Marion Holley of Hartsville; sisters, Juanita Johnson, Mary Outlaw, both of Hartsville, Francis Teal of Patrick; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a beloved friend who was loved like a son, Jackie Townsend. He was preceded in death by his brothers, J. E. Tiller, Levern Tiller, Clarence Tiller; sisters, Mildred Hicks, Annie Belle Demeo, Bertha Mae Gainey; and grandchild Regina Tiller.
ALMA GAINEY
Funeral services for Alma Gainey Gainey, 73, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Danny Holley officiated with burial in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Gainey, widow of Thomas E. "Red" Gainey, died Saturday, June 22, 2002. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late William John and Mary Shumate Gainey. She worked for Mafco Textiles and retired from the West Oil Co. Markette after 15 years.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Mitchell and Jackie Gainey of Hartsville; daughter and son-in-law, Dale and J. M. Hill of Hartsville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruby and Jerry Dixon, Jean Truett, Barbara and Charles Dixon, Diane and Kenny Steen, all of Hartsville; grandchildren, Martin Hill of Atlanta, Ga., Keisha and Ashley Church of Charleston, Mandy Hill of Hartsville; and several nieces and nephews.
T. R. CASSIDY
Funeral services for Theophilus R. "T. R." Cassidy, 78, were held at 5 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2002, at the First Baptist Church of Pine Ridge. The Rev. Billy Campbell and Dr. Pete Cassidy officiated with burial in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
Mr. Cassidy died Saturday, June 22, 2002. Born in Bethune, he was a son of the late Arthur Ray and Edith Talbert Cassidy. He was retired from Sonoco Products Co. with 40 years of service and was a member of the Old Timers Club. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Atkinson Cassidy of Hartsville; son and daughter-in-law, Danny Ray and Joan Cassidy of Hartsville; daughter, Sheila Price of Hartsville; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Pete and Ann Cassidy of Cayce; sister and daughter-in-law, Shirley and Bill Pace of Darlington; grandchildren, Danny Cassidy Jr., Devri Cassidy, Frankie Johnson, Chris Cassidy, Sherry Matthews, Ricky Price; and seven great-grand-children.
ALICE McIVER
Funeral services for Alice McIver were held at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2002, at the St. Paul Community Church. Burial was in the Wesley United Methodist Church Cemetery with professional services directed by Hines Funeral Home.
Mrs. McIver died Saturday, June 8, after an illness. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of Horace and Bell Allen McIver.
Survivors include one daughter, Joann Johnson of Hartsville; four sons, James (Mary) McIver, Robert (Crandell) Lighty Jr., Wilbur (Betty) Bennett and Horace (Lynn) McIver; 31 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
TROY JONES
Funeral services for Troy Jones, 63, were held at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2002, at New Providence Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home of Darlington.
Mr. Jones died Monday, June 10, at his residence after an illness. He was born in Darlington County, the son of the late Barney and Mary Ann Winburn Jones. He was employed with James Fabric in Cheraw and was a foster parent for five years. Mr. Jones was Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristie Wilks.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Tyner Jones of the home; two daughters, Sherrille (Tommy) Wilks of Patrick and Wanda (Dr. William) Woodberry of Florence; three sons, Richard (Pam) Jones, Michael Jones and Ronnie (Sondra) Jones, all of Hartsville; two foster children, Jessie Perks and Justin Perks of Hartsville; 14 grandchildren; four sisters, Margaret (Leon) Hood of Hartsville, Beatrice (Claude) Siner and Geneva (Gary) Barber, both of Darlington; and Helen (Danny) Smith of Hartsville; three brothers, Jessie (Janie Bea) Jones of Patrick, Coker (Myrtle) Jones of Hartsville and J.B. (Crystal) Jones of Darlington.

EATHER PARKER
Funeral services for Eather Gainey Outlaw Parker, 87, will be held at 4 p.m. today, Friday, June 14, 2002, at Spring Branch Baptist Church. The Revs. Buddy Amerson and Ed Griggs will officiate with burial in Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Parker died Wednesday, June 12, 2002. Born in Chesterfield County, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Minnie Stevens Gainey. She was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church. She retired from Sonoco and was a member of the Sonoco Old Timers Club.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Allen Atkinson of Hartsville; step-sons, Wade W. Parker Sr. of Kershaw, Troy W. Parker of McBee, Jack C. Parker of Cassett; step-daughters, Majorie Pearson of Augusta, S.C., Dorothy Lawson of Bethune; brother, Harvey Gainey of Hartsville; sisters, Ethel Galloway and Carnell O'Neal, both of Hartsville; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
FREDDIE MORRISON
Funeral services for Frederick "Freddie" Powell Morrison, 60, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Friday, June 14, 2002, at Lakeview Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Boswell will officiate with burial in Magnolia Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Mr. Morrison died Wednesday, June 12, 2002. Born in Hartsville, he was a son of the late Dan Alexander and Elizabeth May Powell Morrison. He graduated from St. Andrews Presbyterian College and was retired from Sonoco Products Co. with 31 years of service. He was owner and operator of M & M Used Cars.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Carolyn Jones Morrison of Hartsville; sons and daughters-in-law, Frederick "Rick" Powell and Cindy Morrison, Charles William "Chuck" and Abby Morrison, all of Hartsville; sister, Elizabeth "Bitsy" M. Jones of Florence; four grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Daniel A. "Sandy" Morrison Jr.
SHARION D. JOHNSON
DARLINGTON - A graveside service for Sharion Dale Johnson, 64, was held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2002, in Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Johnson died Saturday, June 9, at Carolinas Hospital System in Florence. She was born in Marion County and was the daughter of the late Joseph Benson Hucks and Ruth Irene Hucks. She was retired from Darlington Fuel Co. after many years of service. Mrs. Johnson was also a avid reader.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty J. Barnhill of Sumter and Ann Puckhaber of Santee.
Survivors include her husband, Holly 'Junior' Johnson of the home; three sisters, Doris Ruth Stokes of Darlington, Joye D. Odom of Santee and Gail Bean of LaVergne, Tenn.; one brothers, J. B. Hucks of Chester; 10 nieces and 14 nephews.
