LILLIE BELL WILSON
FLORENCE - Funeral services for Lillie Bell Moore Wilson will be held at 1 p.m. today, June 5, 2002, at New Providence United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roberta C. Josey, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery, directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wilson died on Saturday, June 1, in a Florence nursing home after an illness. She was born in Clarendon County, a daughter of the late Isaiah and Camillia Mitchell Moore. She was the widow of Howard Wilson. She was educated in the Clarendon County public schools. After marriage and moving into the Florence/Darlington area, she joined New Providence United Methodist Church. She was employed at Florence Steam Laundry for 25 years until she retired.
Survivors include four loving children, a daughter, Mrs. Carrie Lee Sparks of Florence; three sons, Eddie James (Bessie) Wilson, Carell Levi (Shirley) Wilson and Johnny Howard (Phyllis) Wilson, all of Hollywood, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah McKelley of Whitesville, N.C., Mrs. Margaret Greene of Pinewood and Mrs. Mary Benjamin of Hollywood, Fla.; one brother, Levi Moore of Brunswick, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and an aunt, Mrs. Helen Mitchell of Sumter.
The family is receiving friends at the home of a granddaughter, Veronica Murphy of 306 E. Carolyn Ave., Florence.
MAGGIE JOHNSON
Graveside services for Maggie Johnson, 98, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Magnolia Cemetery with Bishop Heber Ellison officiating directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
Ms. Johnson died Thursday, May 30, 2002. Born in Chesterfield County, she was a daughter of the late Queen Ester Johnson. She was a member of Wilkes Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her sons, Billy Johnson and Howard Johnson, both of Hartsville; nieces, Nita Bass and Joyce Howle both of Hartsville, and Eva Durham of Greenville; and nephew, J. W. Tolson of Hartsville.
JOHN BROOKS
McBEE ر Funeral services for John B. Brooks Jr., 75, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2002, at McBee Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Wayne Williams and the Rev. Don Rhyne will officiate with burial in McBee Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Brooks died Monday, June 3, 2002. Born in Richmond County, N.C., he was a son of the late John B. and Hattie Morgan Brooks Sr. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was a 50-year member of the McBee American Legion Post No. 139. He was retired from Dupont with 35 years of service and was a deacon at McBee Baptist Church. He was a founding member of McBee Rescue Squad and a member of McBee Fire Department. He was a very committed and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Lee Brooks of McBee; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth H. and Judy Brooks Sr. of McBee, Lt. Col. (Ret) Randy and Prudence Brooks of Springfield, Va.; daughter and son-in-law, Kay B. (RN) and Mack Cassidy of Florence; brother, Bill Brooks of Lumberton, N.C.; sisters, Gladys White of Edenton, N.C., Josephine Ratliff of McFarland, N.C., Lois Lowery of Springfield, Va., Sue McRae of Laurinburg, N.C., Peggy Currie of Wilmington, N.C., Patsy White of Lumberton, N.C.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Brooks will be dearly missed and loved forever.
RUSSELL JOHNSON
Funeral plans for Russell Weston Johnson, 70, will be announced at a later date.
Mr. Johnson, husband of Hildegard Schnarr Johnson, died Thursday, May 30, 2002. Born in Montague, Mass., he was a son of the late Ward and Daisey Russell Johnson. He moved to Hartsville from North Carolina. He was a U.S. veteran in the Air Force, and retired from Standard Products after 17 years.
Surviving are his wife of Hartsville; sons, Russell W. Johnson Jr. of Turners Falls, Mass., Steven D. Johnson of Newburn, N.C., Eric P. Johnson and Tom A. Johnson, both of Hartsville; sisters, Gloria J. Howard of Greenfield, Mass., Barbara J. Bigelow of Cleveland, Tenn.; brothers, Kenneth Johnson of Montague, Mass., David Johnson of Northfield, Mass.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
REV. J. G. REED
DARLINGTON - Funeral services for the Rev. J. G. Reed were held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2002, in New Ebenezer Baptist Church in Florence. The Rev. Norman Gamble, pastor, officiated. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home.
The Rev. Reed died Tuesday evening, May 28, at his residence after an illness. He was born in Kingstree, a son of the late Isaac and Lear Geneva McFadden Reed. He received his formal education in the Williamsburg County public schools and continued his education at Morris College in Sumter. After moving to Florence, he joined New Ebenezer Baptist Church and served as assistant pastor under the leadership of the late Rev. W. A. Johnson Sr. His pastorship began at Mt. Rona Baptist Church, Society Hill. Later he served as pastor of Mt. Tema Baptist Church, Morning Star Baptist Church, Green Hill Baptist Church and Macedonia Baptist Church in Cash. He was a member of the State National Baptist Convention USA and the Baptist Association, the Snow Hill Masonic Lodge No. 387, the Order of Eastern Star Snow Hill Chapter No. 312, the Joint Stock Lodge No. 726 of Hartsville and was affiliated with many other community organizations. The Rev. Reed was employed by the court system of Darlington where he served as a bailiff for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Catherine G. Reed of the home; a brother, Willie (Delores) Reed of Baltimore, Md.; a sister, Mrs. Viola Johnson of Stratford, Conn.; three grandchildren; a special nephew, Seeroy Evans; several other nieces, nephews and special children.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Brian O'Neal Poston, formerly of Hartsville, died Saturday, June 1, 2002, in a Fayetteville, N.C., hospital after an illness. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Hines Funeral Home.
WILLIAM F. TEDDER
FORT WORTH, Texas - Graveside military services for William Franklin "Bill" Tedder, 67, were held in Tryon, N.C., at the Peniel Baptist Church on Saturday, May 11, 2002, directed by Petty Funeral Home of Landrum, S.C.
Mr. Tedder died Wednesday, May 8, in Fort Worth. He was born in Lydia, S.C., a son of Maggie Redick Tedder and the late Howard Tedder of Lydia. He was a graduate of Lydia High School and spent 20 years in the service of his country and retired as a master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Upon re-entering civilian life, he spent a number of years in the employment of the firm General Dynamics of Fort Worth. He enjoyed hunting and golfing and played avidly and was a member of the North Texas Retired Military Golf Association.
He was married to Doris Elizabeth M. Tedder who preceded him in death in December 1997.
He is survived by his mother; his son and daughter-in-law, William (Karen) Tedder of Houston, Texas ; two daughters, Wanda Lee Thompson of Fort Worth, Texas ; and Michelle Dawn (Ken) Scrivner of Albuquerque, N.M.; eight grandchildren; his sister, Betty T. Morrison of Lydia; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends and one special friend, Mrs. Jo Clark of Hartsville.
MAGGIE WILLIAMSON
DARLINGTON - Funeral services for Maggie Williamson were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Mt. Rona Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Matthew Robinson, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the church Cemetery, directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home.
Mrs. Williamson died Tuesday, May 28, in a Florence hospital after an illness. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Willie and Jessie Wilds McCall. She was a graduate of Rosenwald High School and was a life member of Mt. Rona Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the Junior Choir, Usher Board, Gospel Choir and President of the Mass Choir until her declining health. She was a former employee at Wilson Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Williamson Sr. of the home; two sons, Edward (Stephanie) Williamson of Charlotte, N.C., Harlise Jerry (Marcella) McCall of Darlington; a daughter, Vanessa McCall Robinson of Darlington; five grandchildren; two sisters, Alma Smith and Eliza Moore of New York; two brothers, Cary (Lizzie) McCall of Darlington and Radmond (Cora) Patterson of New York; two sons, Willie and Albertus Williamson; nine brothers-in-law; 11 sisters-in-law; a goddaughter, Shawn Parker; three uncles; three aunts, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Williamson was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy and Arthur McCall.
