Julia Drake
COLUMBIA — Funeral Mass for Julia Marie Drake, 77, will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Farewell Prayers and Final Commendation will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Jon Owings, Russell Stratton, Matthew Drake, Nathan Stratton, Arnie Kelley and Kenny Farless. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited Monday at 6 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with visitation until 8 p.m.
Mrs. Drake, wife of the late Charles Nevin Drake, Sr., died Saturday, October 16, 2004. Born in Oakfield, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Peter Matla and Josephine Polkchek Matla. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a former volunteer with the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Drake was well loved by all and is survived by sons, Michael Eugene Drake of Augusta, Ga. and Patrick Thomas Drake of Dalzell; daughter, Mary Teresa Stratton of Columbia; brother, Henry Matla of Oakfield, N.Y.; sister, Gladys Wheeler of Boiling Springs; grandchildren, Matthew Charles Drake, Jennifer Emily Drake, Amy Michelle Drake, Melanie Carol Drake, Paul Michael Drake, Russell Lee Stratton, Nathan Philip Stratton and Angela Marie Stratton; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Charles Nevin Drake, Jr.

MCCOLL — Services for Nell Larrimore McGuirt, 87, formerly of Marion, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church; burial in Tatum Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 tonight at Rogers Funeral Home. Born in Marion Co. to Shep and Mabel Larrimore, she died Oct. 16, 2004. She was a homemaker. George Shealy
GILBERT — Services for George Clyde Shealy, 58, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2004, at Beulah United Methodist Church, Gilbert with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the South Carolina Army National Guard. Honorary Pallbearers are Kenneth Shealy, Albert Shealy, Jim Webb, Larry Rikard, Paul Gentry and Jimmy Alexander. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2004 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Memorials may be made to Beulah United Methodist Church.
Mr. Shealy died Friday, October 15, 2004. Born in Newberry, he was the son of Marguerite Shealy and the late Arthur Eugene. He was a member of Beulah United Methodist Church, treasurer of Beulah’s UMC, life member of S.C. National Guard Association, and the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States.
He is survived by his wife Marie Alexander Shealy; daughter, Georganna Shealy Enlow of Prosperity; sons, Robert Nicholas “Nick” Shealy of Prosperity, and Christopher “Chris” Gene Shealy of Newberry; mother, Marguerite Shealy of Prosperity, seven grandchildren; George William “Will” Enlow, Hunter Derrick Enlow, Kristiana Nichole Enlow, Austin Nichols Shealy, Alexis Marie Shealy, Rhett Lee Shealy and Garett Brooks Shealy; brothers, Kenneth Shealy of Newberry, and Albert Shealy of Prosperity. He is preceded in death by his son, Timothy Edward Shealy.

EASTOVER — Services for Patricia M. Williams, of 1239 Joe Collins Road, will be held at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 19, 2004, at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Gadsden. Interment will follow in Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 9 and the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 at the Funeral Home.

Virginia Pippen
WAGENER — Mrs. Virginia Corbett Pippen, 85, entered into rest Saturday October 16th.
Mrs. Pippen was born in Wagener. She was the daughter of the late Leroy and Essie Kennerly Corbett. Mrs. Pippen was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth W. Pippen, Sr. and also preceded in death by brothers Booster Corbett and Sonny Corbett and sister Doris Maggio. She graduated Lander College and taught school at Dunbarton and Perry schools. She worked for the FBI during WWII and retired from the DSS office in Aiken. Mrs. Pippen was a member of First Baptist Church of Wagener.
Mrs. Pippen is survived by her daughter Janis P. Wadsworth of Wagener, son Wayne Pippen of Wagener, and son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Donna Pippen of North Augusta, grandchildren Jenny Wadsworth Browder, Rhett Wadsworth, Brian W. Pippen, Lauren E. Pippen, Joseph Pippen Michael Pippen and Daniel Pippen, great grandchild Charles Kevin Browder, Jr., sister Eloise Hiott of Cayce and brother Kennerly Corbett of West Columbia.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 17th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Blizzard Funeral Home, 153 South Main St., Wagener (803) 564-5333.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 19th at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Wagener, with viewing 1 hour prior to service. Burial will be in the Wagener Cemetery. Rev. David Robinson will officiate.

SWANSEA — Mrs. Violet Vera Laney Boatwright, 72, of 330 Rebecca Circle died Thursday, October 14, 2004, at Providence Hospital in Columbia, S.C.
Graveside Service will be 12:00 P.M. October 18, 2004 in Unity Cemetery with the Rev. J.B. Helms officiating.
A native of Columbia, S.C., Mrs. Boatwright was a daughter of the late Roy and Lillie Hunter Laney. She was the widow of Ottis Boatwright and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her daughter Cathy Boatwright.
She is survived by her sons: Charles Boatwright of Charlotte, N.C. and Tony Boatwright of West Columbia, S.C. One daughter: Patricia Murphy of West Virginia. Two sisters: Dora Gibson of Rock Hill, S.C. and Thelma Boatwright of Fort Mill, S.C., three brothers: Frank Laney of Rock Hill, S.C., Calvin Laney of Lexington, N.C. and Harold Laney of Concord, N.C. (13) grandchildren, (21) great grandchildren and (1) great-great grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 P.M. Sunday, October 17, 2004 at Fort Mill Funeral Home, and other times at the home of her brother, Frank Laney, 1851 Sandlewood Dr., Rock Hill, S.C.

Paul Broussard
PIEDMONT — James Paul Broussard, 42, of 620 Jameson Drive, Piedmont, died Thursday, October 14, 2004.
Mr. Broussard was born in Greenville. He was a son of Emile Paul Broussard, of Marrero, LA., and the son and stepson of Daigle Hendricks Pointer and Jerry Pointer, of Westminster. He was the husband of Renee Broussard.
A graduate of Clemson University, he was the Quality Assurance Manager for Watermark.
He was a member of Marathon Community Church, where he was a Bible Study Leader and Youth Leader.
Surviving in addition to his father, mother, step-father and wife, are a daughter, Sydney Broussard, and a son, Calder Broussard, both at home; two sisters, Kathy (Tydie) Labbe, of Westminster, and Crystal Williams, of Liberty; a brother, Spencer Broussard, of Las Vegas,, NV; grandmother, Katherine Hendricks, of Liberty, and two uncles, Spencer Hendricks of Liberty, and Rick Hendricks, of Easley.
Mr. Broussard was predeceased by a grandfather, James A. Hendricks, and an uncle, Johnny Hendricks.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at Marathon Community Church, 315 Roe Road, on Monday, October 18.
Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the church.

Etta Clark
COLUMBIA — A celebration to honor the life of Mrs. Etta Keisler Clark will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Union Memorial Gardens, in Union, with the Rev. Clayton Price officiating.
Mrs. Clark, age 92, died at the home of her daughter at 152 Whitwood Circle, Columbia, Sunday, October 17, 2004 at 3:30 A.M. Mrs. Clark was born in Union County on May 13, 1912, a daughter of the late John David Keisler and Mamie McGowan Keisler and was the widow of James Curtis Clark, Sr. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Saluda and was active in her church and community as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Clark was retired from Milliken & Company-Excelsior Plant.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law: Jonnie K. Clark of the home and Becky C. Self and husband Keith of Simpsonville; a son: James Curtis Clark Jr. of Saluda; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two special nieces: Gayle Sims of Columbia and Suzette Porth of Gilbert.
The family will receive friends at Union Memorial Gardens immediately following the graveside services.
