BISHOPVILLE — Graveside services for William Anthony “Tony” Hutto, age 45, who died May 1, 2005, will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. from the Savannah Advent Christian Church Cemetery.
Rev. Barbee Parsons and Rev. Michael Blake will officiate. Visitation will follow the service. Tony was born in Charleston, a son of William M. Hutto, Jr. and Ann Player Woodham. He was a member of Wayside Baptist Church and attended school in Charleston. Surviving are his mother, Bishopville, his father of Charleston, sister: Debbie Jordan, N. Myrtle Beach, maternal grandmother: Lucille Darling, Bishopville, niece, Ashlee Justice, N. Myrtle Beach, He was preceded in death by a sister, Cynthia Brown.
Lee Rivers
RUBY — Mr. Lee Carison Rivers, 77, died Sunday, May 1, 2005. Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Thompson Creek Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Mr. Rivers was born in Ruby, S.C., a son of the late Thomas Rudolph Rivers and Johnny and Lucy Hancock Rivers Blackburn. He had retired as an employee with Cheraw Yarn Mill and was a member of Thompson Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Rivers was married to the late Ruth Pearline Huneycutt Rivers.
Survivors: 2 sons, Tommy Rivers and Buck (Kim) Rivers of Ruby, S.C.; 1 daughter, Joyce R. (Frankie) Lide of Cheraw, S.C.; 2 sisters, Libby Moody and Bonnie Davis of Ruby, S.C.; special aunt, Retta Mae “Shug” Sellers; also 8 grandchildren.

LEXINGTON— A memorial service for Carl Phillips, 52, will be 3 p.m. today at J.H. Robinson Funeral Home, Wagener. Born to Ulysses and Myrt Bulter Phillips, he died April 28, 2005. Margery Shaw Gainey
HARTSVILLE — Funeral services for Margery “Margie” Shaw Gainey, age 77, who died May 2, 2005, will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. from the Antioch Baptist Church. Rev. Jay Gibson and Rev. Margie was born in Darlington Co., a daughter of the late George Mack and Cora Gainey Shaw. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and had retired from the Darlington Co. Schools as Cafeteria Manager. Surviving are her husband: G. Estelle Register Bryant
DARLINGTON — Estelle Register Bryant, 86, died on Monday, May 2, 2005, at home after an extended illness.
The daughter of the late Ernest and Annie Quick Register, Mrs. Bryant was born June 27, 1918, in Darlington, S.C. A dedicated mother and grandmother, she was also a retired EKG technician from Florence General Hospital. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Florence and was a volunteer at Delmae Elementary School. She also enjoyed the ministry of caring for others.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at 3:30 p.m. from the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Florence Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
She is survived by five children: William “Buddy” (La-Rene) Bryant of Columbia, Annelle Hutchinson of Pamplico, Valarie Hodges of Darlington, Richard (Lee) Bryant of Florence, and Ronald Bryant of Florence; a son-in-law, Henry Hodges of Darlington; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Bryant of Florence; three brothers: Leslie “Buck” Register of Myrtle Beach, James Register of Florence, and Jerome (Cheryl) Register of Florence; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, and other times at the residence, 2814 Wood Hill Lane in Darlington, S.C.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Services for Mattie Foulks, 96, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Davis Funeral Home, Ridge Spring, S.C., with burial in Ridge Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Batesburg, S.C. Ms. Fouks died April 27, 2005, in Charlotte, N.C.
Mary R. Smoak
BRANCHVILLE — Mrs. Mary R. Smoak, 85 years of age, of 521 Ott St., died Saturday, April 30, 2005, in Columbia, S.C. Mrs. Smoak was born February 13, 1920, in Asheboro, N.C., a daughter of the late Cone S. Ridge and Gladys B. Hailey Ridge, and she was the widow of the late John Gary Smoak Jr.
Mrs. Smoak was a member of the Branchville Baptist Church. She was active in the church and the school community for many years. She served as PTA president, Sunday School teacher, GA leader, and sang in the church choir. She was known to her friends as “Miss Mary.”
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the Branchville Baptist Church with the Dr. Richard Porter and Rev. Dallas Redding officiating. Burial will be in the Sardis Cemetery in Branchville. The casket will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
Survived by one son, Douglas A. Smoak and wife Mary of West Columbia; two daughters, Madelyn Smoak of Durham, N.C., and Karen A. Smoak of Cayce; two beloved grandchildren, Gary T. Smoak and Amelia E. Smoak, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Ott Funeral Home in Branchville.

Carolyn M. Moore
BATH — Mrs. Carolyn Murdock Moore “Kay,” the wife of Dutch Moore, entered into rest Sunday, May 1, 2005, following a one-night stay at the St. Joseph Hospice. She is survived by her husband, Dutch; two sons, Charles (Maria) and Ronald (Danna); granddaughters, Kristen and Karla; sisters, Margaret Martin (Hardy) of Pascagoula, MS, and Elsie Leader (Doug) of Aiken, S.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Howard and Fanny Meek Murdock and by her brother, Hugh M. Murdock.
Mrs. Moore was affectionately known as “K-K” by her grandchildren and as simply “Kay” by many others. She was a dedicated homemaker and wife who loved plants and gardening. She was widely known as “The Flower Lady of the Valley” for her love of the Angel Trumpet plant.
She was an excellent cook and published her unique cookbook, K’s Kitchen Secrets, in 2003. She loved to dance to R&B music and was especially proficient with the Carolina Shag couples dance.
Mrs. Moore was a native of Kosciusko, MS, and a born-again Christian. She was a devoted mother who was always proud to talk about her sons’ accomplishments.
Memorials may be made to the Bath First Baptist Church or to Augusta Oncology.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 7 to 9.
A celebration service will be held at the Hatcher Funeral Home chapel, U.S. High 1 in Langley, SC, on Thursday at 11 a.m. with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens immediately following.

HARRISBURG, Pa. — A memorial service for Glen L. Clea, of 2247 Jefferson Street, will be held 4 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2005, at J.P. Holley Funeral Home Chapel, Garners Ferry Road. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2005, 4-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Clea died Thursday, April 28, 2005. Born in Sumter County, he was a son of Michael Clea and Mary A. McFadden Clea.
He is survived by his children; parents; brother, Michael Clea Jr., and sister, Samantha Clea, both of Columbia, S.C.

Born in Poterdale, Ga., a daughter of the late Thomas Washington and Katie Greer Cupp, she died May 4, 2005. Surviving: husband, Robert L. Webster of the home; son, Rodney Webster of Chesterfield; nieces and nephews.
Selena Knight
KERSHAW — Funeral services for Selena Pittman Knight, 84, will be held Thursday, May 5, 2005, at 4:00 p.m. from Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Donald Coppedge, Howard Brown and Ed Taylor will officiate.
Mrs. Knight, widow of William Wesley Knight, passed away Monday, May 2, 2005. Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Laban and Blanche Holley Pittman. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, where she served as organist for over 40 years.
Surviving are 2 sons, Wesley Leverne Knight and Kenneth Knight, and his wife Margie; 2 daughters, Jewel Dean Hinson, and her husband Jerry, and Carolyn H. Ingram, and her husband Joe, all of Kershaw; 10 grandchildren, Roddy Knight, Joel Knight, Monica Pardue, Steve Knight, Wyatt Hinson, Tony Hinson, Tanya Bowers, Marty Hilton, Annette Larsen, and Eric Hilton; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Alene Parks, Troutman, NC, Eleta Richardson and Elizabeth Mayer, both of Charlotte, NC. She was predeceased by a brother, William Pittman.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 4, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.

Francis E. Peebles
BURLINGTON, N.C. — Mr. Francis E. Peebles, 88, of 1515 Shadylawn Drive, Burlington, died Monday, May 2, 2005, at 5:40 p.m. at Liberty Commons of Burlington after one year of declining health.
A native of Lee County, S.C., he was the husband of Pearl Turner Peebles, who survives, and the son of the late Charles Henry Peebles and Mignon Breedlove Peebles. He was a 1939 graduate of Clemson University and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. He was a retired Agricultural Extension Agent for Alamance and Guilford Counties. Following his retirement, he worked part time in the Agricultural Economics Department at N.C. State University.
He was a member of Front Street United Methodist Church, a former Sunday School teacher, member of the Official Board of the church, former Chairman of the Good Shepherd Committee for Volunteers from Front Street United Methodist Church, Vice-Chairman of the Good Shepherd Committee, volunteered at the Good Shepherd Kitchen for over 20 years, former volunteer with Habitat, awarded in 2001 the Jim Scott Award of outstanding volunteer service for Alamance County.
Survivors, including his wife, are four sons, Mr. H. Edwin Peebles and wife, Janis of North Wilkesboro, N.C.; Robert E. Peebles and wife, Jane of Marshall, N.C.; Joseph T. Peebles and wife, Vivian of Bejing, China; and Charles F. Peebles and wife, Carol of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Lois P. Pearce of Boykin, S.C. and Mrs. Dorothy P. Ford of Columbia, S.C.; two brothers, Mr. Cecil B. Peebles of Pamplico, S.C. and Dr. Charles H. Peebles, Jr. of Columbia, S.C.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at Front Street United Methodist Church, Thursday, May 5, 2005, at 11 a.m. by Dr. Sidney H. Huggins and Dr. G. Robert McKenzie. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 til 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington. Other times, they will be at the residence.
