HARTSVILLE — Memorial services for Dorothy Oakley Fergason, age 62, will be held Sunday, Feb. 27, at 3 from the Middendorf Baptist Church, directed by Norton Funeral Home. Mrs. Ferguson was born in Chesterfield County, the daughter of the late Arthur Leonard and Dorothy Gladys Davidson Oakley. Surviving are: brother: Bobby Oakley, Hartsville; sisters: Peggy Lyons, River Falls AL, Bernice Rivers, Columbia; special nephew: Tommy Rivers, Columbia. Several other nieces and nephews.

CAMDEN — Services for Joel “Joe” Ray Frazier, 47, of Camden, will be held Sunday, February 27, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Kornegay Funeral Home Camden Chapel with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. Everett Recconu and Rev. Bruce Hancock will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 26, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Kornegay Funeral Home Camden Chapel. Mr. Frazier died Thursday, February 24, 2005. Born in Columbia, S.C., he was the son of Betty Young Frazier and the late Billy R. Frazier. He was a member of Wateree Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Christine Frazier, his mother; children, Christine Michelle Ray and her husband Jerry of Elgin, Kenneth Ray Davidson and his wife Helen of Camden, Stanley Lee Davidson and his wife Deborah of Camden; 9 grandchildren; brother, Ken Frazier of Camden.
Alberta Thompson
ALLENDALE — Services for Alberta Faust Thompson, 89, widow of Eugene Major, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Miller Swamp Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Cave Funeral Service is in charge. Born to William and Sarah Reed Faust, she died January 17, 2005, in John E. Harter Nursing Home, Fairfax. Surviving are her sisters, Lizzie Walker and Louise Allen.

ALLENDALE — Services for Fred Thomas, 51, widower of Willie Williams, will be held at 3 p.m. today at Rosemary Baptist Church, Barnwell, with burial in Miller Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery. Cave Funeral Service is in charge. Born to Luther Thomas Jr. and Janie Mae Brabham, he died February 19, 2005. Surviving are his sisters, Barbara Yates, Jeanette, Carol and Mary Thomas.

Born in Hampton Co. to John Sr. and Leola Cohen Gordon, he died Feb. 21, 2005. Surviving: wife, Peggy Wright Gordon; mother; children, Janean Hill, Janee and John III Gordon; siblings, Mary Taylor, Ruthie Furman, Francina Orr, Kenny Gordon.
Nancy Goodwin
COLUMBIA — Funeral services for Nancy L. Davis Goodwin of Columbia, will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Baptist Church with burial to follow in Serenity Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Goodwin died Feb. 23, 2005. Born in Blair, S.C., she was the daughter of Colie Davis and Carrie Jackson, a retired employee of U.S.C., and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Surviving are her former husband, Johnnie Goodwin, and her children, Sherman (Charlyce), Craig, Patrick (Tresa) Goodwin and Karen (Michael) Saxon; 6 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her sister, Carrie Heard.
Rachel Jones
SENECA — Rachel Ann Hicks Jones, 91, of 1308 Juniper Court, wife of the late Howard Randolph Jones, died Thursday, February 24, 2005, in Oconee Memorial Hospital after a period of declining health.
Mrs. Jones was born in Cherokee County, daughter of the late Robert Z. and Minnie Justice Hicks. She had retired as a schoolteacher from the Cherokee County School District after 45 years of service and was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. Mrs. Jones was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, the Lydia Bible Class and 32 Circle of the United Methodist Women.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Scott Wylie of Seneca; two grandsons, Kevin Wylie and his wife Alison of Anderson, and Ben Wylie of Seneca; one granddaughter, Catherine Wylie of Montreat College, Montreat, NC, and one sister, Frances Sill of Camden, SC.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Mark United Methodist Church by Dr. Steven Morgan, Rev. Jeff Childress and Rev. John Evatt. Interment will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens in Gaffney. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 on Saturday evening at Seneca Mortuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Caring Ministry of St. Mark United Methodist Church, 616 Quincy Road, Seneca, SC 29678.
The family will be at the home of Beverly and Scott Wylie, 1103 Cane Creek Drive, Seneca, SC 29672.

Lewis Brown
AIKEN — Services for Lewis Elmore Brown, 87, widower of Marguerite Brown, 11 a.m. Monday at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church with burial in Historic Bethany Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Shellhouse Funeral Home. Born in Aiken to Ernest and Dora Staubes Brown, he died Feb. 24, 2005. Surviving: daughters, Pamela Thornton, Marguerite “Peggy” Wertz, Adelaide Smith; nine grandchildren.
Walter Gerald Jr.
SUMTER — Walter Leslie Gerald Jr., age 84, husband of the late Virginia Kunde Gerald, died Thursday, February 24, 2005, in Providence Northeast in Columbia.
Mr. Gerald was born in San Antonio, TX, the son of the late Walter Leslie Gerald, Sr. and Alma Canady Gerald. He was a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1945, and a retired Major with the U.S. Air Force, serving as a fighter pilot during the Korean Conflict. He taught ROTC at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, and, after retirement, taught high school at Sumter High School for 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #15, and former Scoutmaster at Aldersgate Troop #349, and an avid golfer. He was a loving father and grandfather. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Survivors are: two sons, Walter Canady Gerald and his wife Cynthia of Taylors, SC, and James Boyd Gerald of Columbia, SC; a sister, Mary Jane Gerald Salter of Burlington, NC; two grandchildren, Walt Gerald and Nick Gerald of Taylors, SC.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a sister, Betty Gerald Wise.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2005, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Sumter with the Rev. Dr. Louis Jamison officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church “Building Improvement Fund,” 211 Alice Dr., Sumter, SC 29150.
The family has chosen Bullock Funeral Home for the arrangements.
