Jane Foster
AIKEN — A private graveside service for Mrs. Jane Ashley Foster, 85, of Aiken, S.C., who died February 4, 2005, was conducted Monday in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Dr. T. Joseph Lusk officiated.
Mrs. Foster was a native of Ellenton, S.C., having made Aiken County her life-long residence. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel Ashley. Mrs. Foster attended Duke University and the University of South Carolina.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Rhea Ashley, Orangeburg, S.C.; one nephew, Joseph Ashley, III, Bainbridge, Georgia; one niece, Phyllis Beasley, Lexington, S.C.

Ernest Brooks
FLORENCE — A funeral service for Mr. Ernest Lee Brooks will be at 6:30 Tuesday evening, February 8, 2005, at Cain Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Lucy Davis. The interment service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, February 9, 2005, in Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery in Johnston, S.C. The interment service will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Keith Polk. Family members will receive friends at Cain Funeral Home following the service on Tuesday evening until 8:30. The family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society, 950, 48th Avenue - D, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
Mr. Brooks, 49, of Florence, died Saturday, February 5, 32005, in a local hospital. He was born Feburary 28, 1955, in Hartsville, to the late Rev. Clyde A. and Thelma Kiser Brooks. He was also predeceased by brother, Edgar Brooks.
Mr. Brooks was an Adult Healthcare Supervisor for the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control for 25 ½ years. He was am ember of Dawsey United Methodist Church. He graduated from TL Hanna High School in Anderson and was also a graduate of Pfeiffer College.
Among his survivors are: daughter, Sarah Brooks of Florence; brother, Alston Brooks of Cayce; and his former wife, Judith Poates Brooks of Florence.
Andrew Blount
AIKEN — Andrew James “Jim” Blount, 88, died early Monday morning, February 7, 2005, in Aiken Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Antley Blount.
Born February 29, 1916, in Ulmers, South Carolina, Mr. Blount was the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Argenia Rivers Blount.
Mr. Blount worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard for more than thirty years, retiring as a Shop Planner in 1970, after which he ran Blount’s Open Air Market in Eutawville, S.C., for seventeen years.
One of eleven children that lived to maturity, Mr. Blount is survived by one sister, Edna Mae Bell of Clinton, S.C. He was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers: Roslyn Sanders and Mildred Kearse, both of Fairfax, Marjorie Marshall of Currie, N.C., Grace Blount and Joan (Blackwell) Hardy, both of North Augusta, Rivers Taft Blount and Arthur Murray Blount, both of Eutawville, David Wyatt Blount of N. Charleston and Robert Gene Blount of Vance.
A Mason and a Christian, Mr. Blount was a devoted husband and father, a man of honesty, integrity and generosity.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Charles Edward Blount.
Surviving are his son, Joseph Donald Blount, daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Taylor Blount of Aiken; grandson, Joseph Donald Blount Jr. of Atlanta and granddaughter, Enid Blount Press and her husband, Gary Press of New York.
He is also survived by more than two dozen nieces and their nephews and their families.
Funeral services for Mr. Blount will be held at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., North Area Chapel, Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at one o’clock. Interment will follow in the Masonic section of Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Stuhr’s North Area Chapel this Tuesday evening from six until eight o’clock. The Reverend Timothy Head, formerly of Cooper River Baptist Church and the Reverend Gary Ward of Cooper River Baptist Church will lead the service.

Ernest Dominick
NEWBERRY — Services for Ernest Lewis Dominick will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Zion United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will follow the service in the family life center. Memorials may be made to the Lowman Home 201 Fortress Drive, White Rock, SC 29177, Zion United Methodist Church, 80 Zion Circle, Prosperity, SC 29127, or to the charity of one’s choice.
Mr. Dominick, 70, died February 8, 2005. Born in Prosperity, he was a son of the late Eddie Cleveland and Christina Mills Dominick. He was a retired employee of Newberry Mills and a member of Zion United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a brother, Wyman E. Dominick of Prosperity, a sister, Bertha Mae D. Dennis and Betty Dill, both of Prosperity. He was predeceased by siblings, Pearl Bowers, Evelyn Kyzer, Raymond Dominick, Claude Dominick, E.C. Dominick Jr., Otis Dominick and Roy Dominick.
Thelma Flake
WAGENER — Services for Thelma Gunter Flake, 94, will be held at 1 pm Thursday, February 10, 2005 in Westside Holiness Church, officiated by Rev. Jewel Jeffcoat. Burial will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Lowman Home, 201 Fortress Dr., White Rock, SC 29177.
Mrs. Flake died Monday, February 7, 2005. Born in Lexington County, she was a daughter of the late Stancil and Lillie Blackwell Gunter of Pelion. Mrs. Flake retired in 1975 as a nursing assistant and caregiver.
Surviving are her daughter, Velma F. Duke (Charles) of Wagener; sons, John M. Flake (Barbara) of Cayce, James E. Flake of Fairview, Gerald G. Flake, Sr. (Pat) of Cayce; sisters, Reba Shumpert of South Congaree, Eva Yonce of West Columbia, Geneva Light of Pelion, Ernestine Williamson of Edmund; brother, Edmund Gunter of Gaston; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Ross was predeceased by a brother, Bennie Gunter and a granddaughter, Melissa Flake Matheson.
Mrs. Flake lived her life for the Lord and her family. She leaves a legacy of honesty, love and good cooking. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Frame widow of William T. Frame died Tuesday, February 08, 2005. Born in Indianapolis, IN, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Myrtle Greene Hubbard.
She is survived by her sons, Steven H. Frame of Irmo, SC, Richard L. Frame of Macon, GA, David W. Frame of Lexington, SC; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
A. Bernarr Hendricks
BETHUNE — Funeral services for A. Bernarr “Barney” Hendricks, 89, will held, February 11, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church. Rev. Larry Brown will officiate.
Mr. Hendricks, born in Brooklyn, Iowa, died Monday, February 7, 2005. He was the son of the late George W. and Myra Horton Hendricks. He was married to Dorothy Hendricks. Mr. Hendricks served as project engineer for the Kendall Company, with 30 years of service. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and Bethune Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Dorothy “Dottie” Hendricks; a son, George Hendricks and his wife, Harriet, of Holly Springs, N.C.; a daughter, Beth Hendricks Flick and her husband, Jim, of Marietta, Ga.; two granddaughters, Julie Hendricks and her fiance of Apex, N.C., Robin Jones, her husband, Chris, and their son, Landon Shane Jones of Waxhaw, N.C.; a sister, Althea Matzke of Winona, Minn., and his beloved pets, Ms. Speckels and Izzy. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and special friends.
