William Bobo
GREENWOOD — William Norman Bobo, 89, resident of 216 Laurel Avenue, died January 18, 2005, at his home.
Born in Union County, November 5, 1915, he was a son of the late William Norman Sr. and Anna Bolt Bobo. He was a graduate of Clinton High School and Draughon’s Business College in Greenville. Mr. Bobo was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WW II, serving as a Tech Sergeant. He retired as Assistant Secretary-Treasurer of Abney Mills and formerly served on the Board of Trustees of the Abney Foundation. Mr. Bobo also served as the church organist and assisted as Choir Director for Main Street United Methodist Church for 31 years.
A member of Main Street United Methodist Church, he was also a member of the Fellowship of Methodist Musicians and the American Guild of Organists. He formerly served on the board of the TB Association and was currently a volunteer with Greater Greenwood United Ministries.
Surviving are a brother, Rev. Preston Bolt Bobo, Sr. of W. Columbia; seven nieces, Sylvia Bobo Jenkins of Wytheville, VA, Doris Lynch Jones of Mt. Pleasant, Ann Rodgers MacKenzie of Gastonia, NC, Jane Rodgers McGahee of Taylors, Donna Byrd of Durham, NC, Sara Byrd Goldberg of Centreville, VA, and Chris Bobo Vassy of Knoxville, TN; three nephews, James H. Lynch of Chester, Rev. Kenneth G. Bobo of Spartanburg and Preston B. Bobo, Jr. of Columbia.
Mr. Bobo was predeceased by a brother, Robert Bobo and sisters, Myrtle B. Estes, Carrie B. Lynch, Clara B. Rodgers, Helen B. Byrd and Sarah Bobo.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Dennis, Rev. Kenneth G. Bobo and Rev. Dawn M. Compton.
Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. in the Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Union County.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Stanley Zorn
BARNWELL — Stanley B. Zorn, 81, died Wednesday, January 19, 2005, in the Providence Hospital, Columbia, SC.
Mr. Zorn was born in Barnwell County and was the son of the late Charlie and Elvira Aldrich Zorn. He had retired as an employee of Security Forces Inc. with 30 years’ service and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Romie Martin and Rev. John Nixon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at Mole Funeral Home.

Mary Moody
COLUMBIA — Service for Mary Opal Banks Moody, 86, will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday 6-8 p.m at the funeral home.
Mrs. Moody, wife of the late Sanders Moody, died Wednesday, January 19, 2005. Born in Dadeville, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Samuel Eugene and Minnie Lee Pless Banks. She was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Olise “Dene” and Duane “Duke” Vogel of Columbia; daughter, Jeri Pitt of Columbia; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Eugene Parrott Jr.
FLORENCE — Eugene William Parrott, Jr., husband of Betty Lou Parrott, died Wednesday, January 19, 2005, at age 85. He passed away at home in Florence. He was born October 30, 1919, in Florence, SC, the son of Vinnie Meeks Parrott and Eugene William Parrott, Sr.
Gene was raised in Florence where he graduated from Florence High School. He played on the football, basketball, and baseball teams. He was known as “glue fingers” on the football team for catching passes. He attended Presbyterian College and played on the baseball team. He served in the U.S. Army for three years. He served with distinction with the 94th Division, 301st Infantry, E CO. as a 1st Sergeant. He was qualified in M1 30 cal. rifle, 30 cal. heavy machine gun, and Browning automatic rifle. He served 18 months in France, Germany and Czechoslovakia during World War II. Theaters of Operation and Medals include Northern France: 2 Battle Stars, Ardennes-Rhine: 2 Battle Stars, Central Europe: 1 Battle Star, European Operation: 4 Battle Stars. Other commendations earned include Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, and The Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Achievement in ground combat.
He spent 25 years in the South Carolina Officials Association in football, basketball, and baseball. He worked 38 years for the Postal Service as a clerk, city carrier, and rural carrier. He enjoyed playing golf and being with his family and friends. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Parrott; a daughter, Connie L. (Bubba) Waldrup of Batesville, MS; a son, Eugene “Chip” W. (Jeannie) Parrott, III, of Florence; grandchildren, Susan (Cary) Hardee of Batesville, MS, Christy Waldrup of Batesville, MS, and Jennifer (Tim) Colbert of Greenville, MS, Taylor H. Parrott of Florence; and three great-grandchildren, Bryce and Britton Colbert, and Addison Hardee; two sisters, Maureen Shrum of Charlottesville, VA, and Carolyn MacDonald of Jonesboro, GA.
He was predeceased by a brother, Pete Parrott.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2005, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Brack Kimrey Jr.

Mrs. Hobbs, wife of the late Eugene T. Hobbs, Sr., died Friday, January 21, 2005. Born in Hemingway, she was a daughter of the late Luther W. and Nita Cox Hardee. A graduate of Emanuel College in Georgia, she retired from Dublin High School.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Mark D. and Lisa Hobbs of Irmo and Eugene T. “Zeke” Hobbs, Jr. and Mary Dell Hobbs of Dublin, Ga.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilson “Sonny” and Dale Hardee of Johnsonville and Jabe “Chink” and Shirley Hardee of Wilmington, N.C.; sisters, Capitola “Cappie” Turner and her husband, Maurice R. Turner, Sr. of Lexington, Mary Jane Spears of Surfside Beach and Geraldine “Gerry” Lambert of Johnsonville; and grandchildren, John T. “Tommy” Hobbs of Dublin, Ga., Brittany Hobbs and Heather Hobbs, both of Irmo. She was predeceased by brother, L.W. Hardee and sister, Lura Poston.
