Sadie Setzler
NEWBERRY — Sadie Sease Setzler, 94, of 2116 Osborne Ave., Newberry, widow of Ralph Halfacre Setzler, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at her residence.
Mrs. Setzler was born in Newberry County in the St. Philip’s community, a daughter of the late Luther Hampton, Sr. and Bittie Ruff Sease. She was a 1931 graduate of Newberry College. For many years she worked for the Main St. Florist and Jones Florist, and then she retired as a clerk at B.C. Moore’s.
Mrs. Setzler was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, the Cromer/Hipp Sunday School Class, and the Miriam Circle of The W.E.L.C.A.
Mrs. Setzler is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Setzler Monroe and Bill Monroe of Spartanburg; one sister, Julia Kate Sease of Newberry; three grandchildren, Billy Monroe of Scotland, AR, Betsy M. Antley of Barnwell; and Mary M. Glenn of Roebuck; six great grandchildren, Trey, Will and Dargan Antley and Zac, Steven, and Savanna Glenn; and three step-grandchildren, Shane, Stevie and Marvin Benton. She was predeceased by two sisters, Fannie Mae Sease and Elizabeth S. Lominick and three brothers, Govan Sease, Luther Sease, and Thomas Sease.
Funeral services for Sadie Sease Setzler will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer by the Rev. Steven Counts. Interment will be in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Visitation was held Friday at the Whitaker Funeral Home and the family will be at the residence, 2116 Osborne Ave.

Mrs. Catarino died Friday, January 7, 2005 at Providence Hospital Northeast. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania , she was the widow of Albert Catarino.
She is survived by her children, Michael Catarino and wife, Janet, of Boiling Springs, PA, Al Catarino and wife, Roseanne, of Phoenix, AZ, Roger Catarino and wife, Linnie, of Columbia, SC, and Barbara Catarino of Charlotte, NC; 8 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

COLUMBIA — Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Branson Brigman, 92, of Columbia, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 10, 2005, in the chapel at Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Center, 1 Still Hopes Dr., West Columbia, SC, 29169. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to services. Dr. Thomas Cuttino, Dr. Johnnie Brigman, Chaplain Wayne Kinyon and Reverend Adrian Despres will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Serenity Gardens. Active Pallbearers will be the grandsons. Memorials may be made to the Residents Assistance Fund at Still Hopes. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Still Hopes and to Tri-County Hospice.
Mrs. Brigman died Friday, January 07, 2005. Born in Asheville, NC, on April 7, 1912, she was a daughter of the late John R. Branson and Roberta Brown Tate, and a loving and faithful wife of 72 years to the late Benjamin Brigman. Grace was a life long member of Oteen Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a past WMU President. She also was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Swannanoa Chapter. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grand-mother who will be greatly missed.
Surviving to honor and cherish her memory are her daughters, Betty Ruiz and husband, William, of Columbia, SC, Patricia Emery and husband, Larry R., of Lincolnton, GA; son, Dr. Johnnie L. Brigman and wife, Martha, of Huntsville, AL; brother, Vernon Branson of Asheville, NC; ten grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Predeceasing her are sister, Lillian Maney and Mildred Reighard.

BATESBURG-LEESVILLE — Pauline Cook, 75, of Batesburg-Leesville, died Friday, January 7, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2005, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Rose Lawn Cemetery with Rev. David Norman officiating.
Mrs. Cook was born in Batesburg to the late Levie and Minnie Lee Quattlebaum Gantt. She was married to the late Jessie Carl Cook, Jr., she was a homemaker. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church.
Surviving are her son, Larry Black of Texas ; daughter, Mary Cook of Leesville; brothers, C.L. Gantt; Walter Gantt; Caryle Gantt; Callie Gantt, all of Batesburg-Leesville; sister, Myrtle Matthews of Saluda; 8 grandchildren.
