Jesse M. McCormack Jr.

Jesse M. McCormack Jr., 82, died Saturday, September 22, 2007, in St. Matthews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 24, at the Denmark First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Andy Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Bamberg County Memory Gardens, with Masonic Rites accorded.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Denmark First Baptist Church.

Mole Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Limas Thomas Jr.

Limas Thomas Jr., 76, of 1202 Coach Road, Holly Hill, died Thursday, November 1, 2007, at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral plans will be announced by Shuler-Marshall Funeral Home Inc.

Friends may call at the residence and the funeral home.

Mrs. Joyce Unez Brown

Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Unez Brown, 60, of 1475 Watersprings Road, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2007, in the Church of God in Christ, Jurisdictional Headquarters, Jamison Community, St. Matthews, with the Rev. James Lee officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The casket will be placed in the church at noon.

Mrs. Brown, daughter of the late Jesse and Alma Brown was born December 9, 1946, in Louisville, Ga. She entered eternal rest on October 29. She was educated in Delray Beach, Florida public schools and graduated from Carver High School in 1965. She was a graduate of Palm Beach Junior College and Florida Atlantic University. She was a retired school teacher from Hyatt Park Elementary School. She was a licensed Evangelist Missionary in the Church of God in Christ and served faithfully as a member of the Women's Department, Ministers' Wives Circle, a leader of the Youth Department, a Sunday School Teacher and as First Lady of St. Peter COGIC.

She leaves to cherish precious memories, her husband, James G. Brown Jr.; two sons, James Garfield Brown III and Juston Allan Brown; four sisters, Lee Martin, Bernice Johnson, Glory Wilson, and Theresa Corner; four brothers, Joe Bray, Donald (Maebell) Walker, Theodore Brown, and Samuel (Nancy) Brown; one special aunt, Julia Morris; three sisters-in-law, Veronica Daniels, Susan Brown, and Vera Morris; three brothers-in-law, Stanley (Sheila) Brown, Alexander (Sandra) Brown and David Robinson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Friends may call at the residence of her husband, the Rev. James G. Brown Jr., 1475 Watersprings Road, Orangeburg or Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Wake services will be held at St. Peter Church of God in Christ on Waterspring Road, Jamison from 6 to 8 p.m.

Pearl Shuman Weeks

Pearl Shuman Weeks, 74, of 6260 Badham Drive, Reevesville, widow of Donald E. (Nonnie) Weeks, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at the St. George Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, in the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel in St. George, with the Rev. Clay Shook officiating. Burial will follow in the St. George Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Ms. Weeks was born Oct. 6, 1933, in Reevesville, a daughter of the late Harry and Bessie Belle Walters Shuman. A 1951 graduate of St. George High School, she was a retired employee of Farmers and Merchant Bank of Walterboro in the St. George branch, and Dorchester County Treasurer's office. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church where she taught the Dewey Weeks Sunday School class for a number of years. She was preceded in death by siblings, Dixie Benton, Bert Moore, Allen Shuman, Billy Shuman and J.C. Shuman.

Survivors include a son, Frank Kirkland Weeks of Swansea; daughter, Myra Elizabeth Weeks; grandson, Adam Jesse Weeks, both of Lexington; two brothers, Thomas R. "Pete" (Edith) Shuman of Reevesville and Harris (Rita) Shuman of Canadays; three sisters, Dolly Jeanette Coleman of Uvalda, Ga., Betty Jean Shuman of Jacksonville, Fla., and Evelyn S. (Floyd) Wimberly of Branchville.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Bryant Funeral Home of St. George.

Memorials may be made to the Memorial Baptist Church, P.O. Box 566, St. George, SC 29477.

George JD Almonds

The funeral services for Mr. George "JD" Almonds, 72, of 408 Clarendon St., will be held 2 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2007, at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kay Adams Best officiating. The casket will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be held at Belleville Memorial Gardens, Orangeburg.

Mr. Almonds, son of the late George Ammonds Sr. and Marie Thompson Ammonds was born December 25, 1934, in Orangeburg. He entered rest on October 12, after a long term illness. He was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County. He was employed with Cox Wood Preserving Company and Stone Container. At an early age, he joined Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his wife, Emma Ruth Almonds, of the home; four sons, Andrew (Sharon) Seawright, Romeo (Jean) Almonds, Wallace Keitt, all of Orangeburg, Tyrone Almonds of North Carolina; six daughters, Juliet (Joseph) Dickson, Tina (Larry) Williams, Janette Almonds, Dianne (Alvin) Thomas, all of Orangeburg, Deloris Seawright and Owanda McMorris, both of Madison, Wis., two brothers, Willie (Pearline) Ammonds and Jacob (Lorrene) Ammonds, both of Orangeburg; one sister, Mamie Brown of New York; 27 grandchildren; one special grandson, Terrace O. Dickson, 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends. A very close friend and neighbor, Mr. Robert Jamison.

Friends may call at the residence of his wife, Emma Almonds, 408 Clarendon St., Orangeburg or at Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Henry Cheeseboro Jr. 'Cheese'

Funeral services for Henry Cheeseboro Jr. "Cheese", of Bronx, N.Y., formerly of Fort Motte, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in St. Matthews, with the Rev. Sam Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Henry was born in Fort Motte, a son of the late Henry Cheeseboro Sr. and Eliza Wilson Cheeseboro. He was a 1957 graduate of John Ford High School. Relocating to Bronx, N.Y., after living several years in Washington, D.C., he was employed by the New York Transit Authority. Henry retired in 2002 after 29 years of dedicated service. April 2005, he became a member of Butler Memorial United Methodist Church, Bronx, N.Y. and regularly attended services at Family Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 47 years, Mardel Floyd Cheeseboro; three children, Darrell Vincent, Derrick Marhen, and Delmar Ivan Cheeseboro; granddaughters, Erika Cheeseboro Selby, Jazmin Marie Ramsey, and Ashley Cheeseboro of Bronx, N.Y. and Charlyse Athena and Aryanna Jhadae Cheeseboro of West Babylon, N.Y.; one step-grandson, Gerald Shipman of West Babylon, N.Y.; three brothers, Willie Cheeseboro (Beatrice) of Suitland, Md, Grady Cheeseboro of New York, N.Y. and Marcus Cheeseboro of Fort Motte; two sisters, Rev. Eliza Brown (Rev. Dr. Henry) of Salsbury, Md. and Rennie Bates (Paul) of South Boston, Va.; three sisters-in-law, Ora Bell Cheeseboro of Gadsen, Catherine Cheeseboro of Orangeburg and Elease Floyd of Bronx, N.Y.; one brother-in-law, James Floyd of the Bronx, N.Y.; two aunts, Emma Jacobs of Fort Motte and Martha Bartley of St. Matthews; a loving mother-in-law, Eula Mae Floyd of St. Matthews; one goddaughter, Sherry "Cookie" Rios of New York, N.Y. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at Carson's Funeral Home of St. Matthews.

Friends may call at the residence of Mrs. Eula Mae Floyd, 1626 Calhoun Road, St. Matthews and at Carson's Funeral Home.

William Dewitt Jolley

William Dewitt Jolley, 91, of Greenville, died Friday, September 14, 2007.

Services will be held at at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 16, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home Northwest, with visitation from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service.

He was predeceased by a son, Dexter Jolley.

Surviving are his wife, Jessie Lee Abernathy Jolley; four daughters, Melba Garrison Brenda Miller, Sandra Clary and Pam Taylor; and a son, Gerald Jolley and wife Phyllis, of Orangeburg.

Memorials may be made to the Children's Organ Transplant Association, in honor of Isaac Clary, 2501 Cota Drive, Bloomington, IN 47403.

Theodore 'Collie' Cruel

Funeral services for Theodore "Collie" Cruel, 77, of 1156 Hampton Road, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, atSt. John AME Church on Rowesville Road, with the Rev. Melissa W. Green officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The casket will be placed in the church at 12 noon.

Mr. Cruel, son of the late Johnnie Cruel and Flossie Thomas Cruel was born Oct. 20, 1920, in Orangeburg County. He entered eternal rest on Sept. 14. He was educated in the Orangeburg County Public Schools. He was employed by the Ethyl Corp. (Albemarle) for 42 years.

At an early age, Mr. Cruel joined St. John AME Church, where he was a faithful member and served in various organizations such as Steward Board, Class Leader, Trustee Chairperson, Gospel Choir President, Assistant Church School Teacher, President of the Male Chorus and Senior Choir.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife, Dorothy B. Cruel; four children, Marion (Cynthia) Johnson of Montgomery, Ala., Donna Haigler of Orangeburg, Leonard Washington of Orangeburg and Yvette (Nathaniel) Primus of Jacksonville, Fla.; four devoted step-children, Joann (Daniel) Sistrunk of Atlanta, Jonathan (Diane) Rhodes of Bristow, Va., Evelyn Rhodes of Atlanta and Josephine (Calvin) Keller of St. Matthews; a sister, Anna Cruel (Thomas) Boyd of Orangeburg; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law; an aunt, Mary Winn of Orangeburg; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call at the residence of his wife, Dorothy B. Cruel, 1156 Hampton Road, Orangeburg, or Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17.

Mamie Lou Mickey Goodwine

Funeral services for Mamie Lou "Mickey" Goodwine, 66, of 72 Willow Trail, Swansea, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2007, at New First Mount Beulah Baptist Church, Swansea. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. Goodwine died Sunday, September 16.

Viewing will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Jenkins Funeral Home of St. Matthews.

Friends may call at the residence and the funeral home.
