Jimmy D. Murrow

QMC Jimmy D. Murrow, U.S. Navy Retired, 70, widower of Margaret Infinger Murrow, died Saturday, October 20, 2007 in a Charleston Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, in the First Baptist Church in Eutawville, with the Rev. Mike Thompson, the Rev. Donnie Blake and the Rev. Tommy Wolpert officiating. Burial will be in the Eutawville Cemetery with military rites.

QMC Murrow was born in Horry County, the son of Barney O. Murrow and Rhodie Capps Murrow. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eutawville. He was retired after 32 years from the U.S. Navy having served on the following ships: USS Saipan, USS Saratoga, USS Monrovia, USS Krishna, USS Tallahatchie County, USS Barnstable County, USS Nimitz and USS Nicholas. He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Murrow.

Survivors inlcude a son, Danny Ray (Jeanine) Murrow and children, Jeremy, Zachary, Tiffany, Timothy, and Erik, all of Holly Hill; daughters, Sharon Marshall of Charleston, and Tammy (Johnny) Weatherford and children, Kayce, Jantzen, JoJo, and Rebekah, all of Eutawville; two additional grandchildren, Dusty Hyatt and Devan Murrow; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Coral; brother, W. M. Murrow of Charleston and sisters, Captola Capps of Black Mountain, N.C. and Daisy Matthews of Johnsonville.

Friends may call at Avinger Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 484, Eutawville, SC 29059.

Mrs. Loretta Callaway

Mrs. Loretta Callaway, 84, of St. George, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at Colleton Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, in the Bethel AME Church in St. George. Burial will be in the F.B.H. Memorial Cemetery. All services entrusted to Brown & Son Funeral Home of St. George.

Mrs. Callaway was born Feb. 15, 1923, a daughter of the late Rev. William and Mozella Hopkins. She was a member of Brown Chapel FBH Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Betty Jean Wright, Carolyn Beaker, Eyvonne Hart, and Eyvette Johnson; 10 sons, Louis Callaway, Arthur Callaway, William Callaway, Roscoe Callaway, Marvin Callaway, Herman and Nathaniel Callaway, Timothy Callaway, Delmar Callaway and Lemar Callaway; three sisters, Dorothy Stephens, Samella Odom, and Ruth Joyner.

Johnnie West Primus

Funeral services for Johnnie West Primus, 65, of 1114 Second Texas Road, St. George, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2007, in the Bethel Baptist Church (Texas Community), St. George, with the Rev. Brian Fulmore and the Rev. Robert Primus officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery in St. George.

The casket will be placed in the church at noon.

Mr. Primus died October 29, at his residence.

He was born August 9, 1942, in Dorchester County, a son of the late Peter Primus and Myzine Guess. At an early age he became a member of Bethel Baptist Church in the Texas Community. In January 1964, he married Mary Lary in Brooklyn, N.Y. To this union, three children were born. He retired from Rogers Construction Company in Charleston.

He was preceded in death by one son, Shoundel Primus.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Mary Primus; a son, Jeffrey (Judy) Primus and a daughter, Elba (Jerry) Pinkney; seven grandchildren, Jerry, Karcen, Shoundel, Jeffrey, Jenise and Jenaya; mother, Myzine Guess; two brothers, Lewis Primus and the Reverend Robert (Pearline) Primus; three sisters, Angie Syphert, Mary (Maurice) Jones and Beverly Chavis and special friends and cousins, Barbara Fogle, John Britt, Rudolph Primus, Nathaniel (Pop) Primus and Charlie Coaxum and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends.

Friends may call at his residence or the funeral home.

Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Stevens Funeral Home of St. George is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wilhelmenia Johnson

Mrs. Wilhelmenia Johnson, 72, of 358 Jamison Ave., died Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be announced by Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Friends may call at the residence of her sister, Mrs. Lucia McCray, 358 Jamison Ave., Orangeburg.

Heyward Eugene Chavis

Heyward Eugene Chavis, 74, of North, died Monday, October 29, 2007.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, November 1, Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Rex Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The casket will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.

Mr. Chavis was born in Orangeburg County, a son of the late Watson and Nettie Alma Knight Chavis. He was a retired auto mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Christalee Wingard of the home; two stepdaughters, Brenda Jeffcoat and Jennifer Wingard, both of Swansea; two stepgrandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home of North.

Phillip Michael Steward

Phillip Michael Steward passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2007, at the Heartland Home and Hospice Center in Dunwoody, Ga. at the age of 52.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 2, at New Covenant Congregation of Israel, 3901-A Covington Highway, Decatur, Ga. 30032.

Phillip was a native of Orangeburg and a resident of Stone Mountain, Ga. for the past 16 years. He was the fourth and youngest child born to the late Ernest Steward and Ellen Odom Steward. Beloved husband of 21 years to Gailene Burns Steward, father of Phillip Michael Steward II and Christopher Michael Steward; brother of Ernestine Steward Gray (James II) of New Orleans, William II Steward (Jeanette) of Mitchellville, Md. and Richard E. Steward (Louvenia) of Orangeburg. He graduated from Orangeburg-Wilkinson in the class of 1973.

He is survived by his mother; mother-in-law, Barbara Burns of New Orleans; sister; two brothers; five sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; four nieces; one grand niece; three nephews; one uncle; two aunts; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services entrusted to Donald Trimble Mortuary Inc., 1876 Second Ave., Decatur, Ga. 30032.

James Daniel Turner

Funeral services for James Daniel Turner will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2007, in the St. George Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Orangeburg.

Pallbearers will be Kerry Neese, Theodore Kennerly, Larry Whittle, Bernard Hydrick, Dan Dyches and Cal Hewitt. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School class and the Ushers of St. George Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine (Katie) Harrison Turner of Orangeburg; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jay and Kristi Turner of Cordova and Wattie Turner of Canaan Community; two sisters, Lillie T. Dyches of Cope and Jewel T. Phillips of Orangeburg; two grandchildren, Kaitlynn Turner and Ashlynn Turner, both of Cordova and a number of nieces and nephews.

Ms. Gloria Ann Livingston

Ms. Gloria Ann Livingston, 50, of Livingston Avenue, North, died suddenly, Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at her residence.

Funeral services will be announced by W. B. Crumel Funeral Home of North.

Friends may call at the residence of her sister, Pastor Linda Livingston, 211 Jones Bridge Road, North, and at the funeral home.

Mrs. Eveline Sis Holston Dunbar

Funeral services for Mrs. Eveline "Sis" Holston Dunbar will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2007, in the Thankful Grove Baptist Church, Windsor, with the Rev. Freddie L. Bush, the Rev. Wilbur J. Simmons, the Rev. Sheldonia Brown, the Rev. Beverly Ashley and Dr. Rev. Troy Toney officiating. Burial will be in the chuch cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Willie B. Dunbar of Windsor; four daughters, Sandra J. Michaels, Deborah L. Stone, Phylene Burgess, all of Aiken, Shirlene Dunbar of Windsor; two sons, Michael (Lisa) Dunbar, Willie B. (Yolunder) Dunbar, all of Windsor; four sisters, Josephine (Aaron) Gomillion of Washington, D.C., Gracie (Joe) Dunbar, Sarah Hickman, both of Aiken, Ethel Dicks of Windsor; one brother, Lewis (Annie) Holston of Windsor; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends and family may call at the residence of her husband, 377 Mount Beulah, Windsor or the Simmons Memorial Chapel of Elko (803) 266-2939 Wednesday, from 1 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Henry Cheeseboro Jr. 'Cheese'

Funeral services for Henry Cheeseboro Jr. "Cheese", of Bronx, N.Y., formerly of Fort Motte, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in St. Matthews, with the Rev. Sam Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Henry was born in Fort Motte, a son of the late Henry Cheeseboro Sr. and Eliza Wilson Cheeseboro. He was a 1957 graduate of John Ford High School. Relocating to Bronx, N.Y., after living several years in Washington, D.C., he was employed by the New York Transit Authority. Henry retired in 2002 after 29 years of dedicated service. April 2005, he became a member of Butler Memorial United Methodist Church, Bronx, N.Y. and regularly attended services at Family Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 47 years, Mardel Floyd Cheeseboro; three children, Darrell Vincent, Derrick Marhen, and Delmar Ivan Cheeseboro; granddaughters, Erika Cheeseboro Selby, Jazmin Marie Ramsey, and Ashley Cheeseboro of Bronx, N.Y. and Charlyse Athena and Aryanna Jhadae Cheeseboro of West Babylon, N.Y.; one step-grandson, Gerald Shipman of West Babylon, N.Y.; three brothers, Willie Cheeseboro (Beatrice) of Suitland, Md, Grady Cheeseboro of New York, N.Y. and Marcus Cheeseboro of Fort Motte; two sisters, Rev. Eliza Brown (Rev. Dr. Henry) of Salsbury, Md. and Rennie Bates (Paul) of South Boston, Va.; three sisters-in-law, Ora Bell Cheeseboro of Gadsen, Catherine Cheeseboro of Orangeburg and Elease Floyd of Bronx, N.Y.; one brother-in-law, James Floyd of the Bronx, N.Y.; two aunts, Emma Jacobs of Fort Motte and Martha Bartley of St. Matthews; a loving mother-in-law, Eula Mae Floyd of St. Matthews; one goddaughter, Sherry "Cookie" Rios of New York, N.Y. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at Carson's Funeral Home of St. Matthews.

Friends may call at the residence of Mrs. Eula Mae Floyd, 1626 Calhoun Road, St. Matthews and at Carson's Funeral Home.
