MANNING -- John Wesley Mitchum, 61, widower of Elisa Mitchum, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, in Sumter.
Born June 25, 1943, in Manning, he was a son of John Wesley and Susan Emma Tobias Mitchum. He was a carpenter and a member of Trueway Holiness Church.
Surviving are sisters, Myrtle Binnicker of Plymouth, N.C., Emma Leona Pack and Rotha Windham of Winnsboro; special granddaughter, Chasity Miles and husband, Dawayne, of Alcolu; and a number of stepchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to Sumter Hospice, S.C. Oncology, and John and Sharon Daniels of Sumter.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John Eldridge Mitchum; three sisters, Vergie Ward, Vermell McClendon and Earline Braxton.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Trueway Holiness Church, 8 Short St., officiated by the Revs. W. Kevin Cribb and Charlie Salter, followed by a private family interment at Oak Grove cemetery.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Charlotte Millard Thorpe-Randolph, 43, wife of Clinton Randolph, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at Community Hospice Hadlow Center in Jacksonville, Fla.

ELEANOR K. PRUETT
MANNING - Eleanor King Pruett, 63, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at the home of her daughter in Manning.
Born December 31, 1941, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late James King and the late Katie McCall King Cales. She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by four daughters, Cynthia (Norman) Gaskins of Moncks Corner, Jacqueline Chambers of Manning, Toni (Darren) Kite of Charleston and Robin (Bryan) Prosser of Manning; two sisters, Martha Ward of Andrews and Maude Brown of Sumter; six brothers, Tommy and Jimmy King of Sumter, Andrew, James and Roger Cales of Manning, and Randy Cales of Milton, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert King.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. W. Kevin Cribb officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning and at other times at the residence of Bryan and Robin Prosser, 3989 J. W. Rhames Rd., Manning.

Paul White, 80, passed away Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at his residence. Plans are incomplete and will be announced by Bullock Funeral Home.
GERALDINE PARROTT
Geraldine Parrott, of 4801 Jordan Circle, Timmonsville, died on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at Carolinas Hospital System in Florence, after an illness.
Born in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of Carrie Lee Parrott and the late Hughie "Precher" Parrott. She joined Mount Pleasant AME Church at an early age, where she was a member of the missionary and an usher. Geraldine was a 1978 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, Elliott. She also attended Voorhees College in Denmark, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in sociology. In 1986, she began her career with Lee County Parks and Recreation Department in Bishopville, where she worked as an assistant program coordinator. In 1990, she worked for the Department of Transportation and the Disabilities and Special Needs Board in Florence. Later, she joined the Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services in Sumter, where she was a probation and parole officer. In 2004, she was awarded state agency of the year for her outstanding services.
She leaves to cherish sweet memories, her mother, Carrie Lee Parrott of Lynchburg; one daughter, Nikia P. Parrott of Lumberton, N.C.; one granddaughter, Asia Parrott; one grandson, Nicholas Parrott; four sisters, Emma Johnson (James) of Laurel, Md., Janie Parrott of Silver Spring, Md.; Pauline Adams (Gregory) and Juanita Parrott, all of Columbia; five brothers, Leroy Parrott (Margaret) of Washington, D.C., Joe L. Parrott (Ernestine) of Sumter, Levi Parrott and Carl Parrott (Frederica), both of Lynchburg, and Odell Parrott (Julia) of Columbia; one uncle; eight nieces; 17 nephews; a host of other relatives and friends; and a very special and devoted friend, Roosevelt Mickens of Bishopville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Mount Pleasant AME Church, Lynchburg, with the Rev. Alfred Bradley officiating and the Rev. Dr. Carl Deidrick Parrott delivering the eulogy.
Burial will be in the churchyard cemetery.
Flower bearers will be Class of 1978, Mount Pleasant High School.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
The family is receiving friends at the home of her mother, Carrie Lee Parrott, 740 Wells Church Road, Lynchburg.

DAVID COLLINS
David Collins, 62, husband of Sue McCray Collins, died Feb. 24, 2005, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter.
The son of the late Carolyn White Collins, he was born Feb. 5, 1943, in Gable.
He received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County where he attended Walker-Gamble High School. At an early age he attended Friendship Presbyterian Church. He migrated to Philadelphia in 1958 where he joined Greater St. Thomas Church, serving faithfully as an usher. After moving back to Sumter in 1991, he joined Melina Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon, usher and a member of the men's council. He worked with Premier Medical Co. for thirty years in Philadelphia.
Survivors include his wife, Sue M. Collins of the home; one son, Torrey McCray of Sumter; two daughters, Jacqueline Collins and Tajuanna Harris, both of Philadelphia; four brothers, Daniel Collins, Morris Smith, Willie James (Ernestine) Smith and Ulysse (Myrtle) Smith; eight sisters, Gladys (Eddie) Cooper, Margaret (Nathaniel) Rose, Annabel (Foster) Wheeler, Ruth Lowery, Julia Weaver, Evelyn Collins, Sarah Hampton and Luc Mac Sanchez; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, W.J., Jerome and John Collins.
The remains will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Melina Presbyterian Church in Sardenia, with the Rev. Carnell Hampton, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home, 213 Manhattan Ave., Sumter.

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -- Charlotte Millard Thorpe-Randolph, 43, wife of Clinton Randolph, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at Community Hospice Hadlow Center in Jacksonville, Fla.
Born in Tallahassee, Fla., she was the daughter of Wesley Millard and Dorothy Jean Branham Millard. She was the granddaughter of Dorothy H. Branham and the late Melvin Branham.
Mrs. Randolph was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla., and worked in the public relations department for Winn Dixie Inc.
Surviving are her parents of Port Charlotte, Fla.; her husband of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons, Steven Anthony Molina of Jacksonville, Fla., and Philip Andrew Molina of San Antonio; two daughters, Stephanie Maria Molina of San Antonio, and Lauren Maria Fitz Randolph of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Catherine V. Millard of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Julie M. Paull and her husband, Roger, of Punta Gorda, Fla.; two brothers, David Wesley Millard of Beaufort, S.C., and John Branham Millard of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Sumter Baptist Temple with the Rev. Mark Manning and the Rev. Eddie Richardson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ashwood Baptist Church cemetery in Lee County.

Kathryn Lee Harris of 2355 Hwy. 261 N. died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia.
She was the daughter of the late Julius Harris and Ethel Singleton Harris.

MANNING -- Angela Holiday Canty, 31, wife of Davon Canty, died Friday, Feb. 26, 2005, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
The daughter of John Holiday and Sarah Adams Holiday, she was born Nov. 13, 1973, in Manning.
The family will receive friends at her residence, 9214 Silver Road, Manning, and at the home of her parents, 6509 Furse Road, in the Silver community of Pinewood.

CAROL GARVIN
Carol Evelyn Squire Garvin, 83, widow of David Garvin, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at a local nursing center.
Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Homer Wallis and the late Evelyn Squire Wallis. She was an avid bird watcher, bridge player, reader and was a past-president of her garden club.
Survivors include one daughter, Sydney Carol Feddersen of Sumter; two sons, Steven Robert Bartasek of Summerland Key, Fla., and Robert James Bartasek of Long Island, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Steven Charles Feddersen, Sandra-Lee Campagnari, Lisa Carol Jeffcoat and Gary Charles Feddersen; and six great-grandchildren.

Livingston "Liz" Andrew Singletary, 81, husband of the late Aileen Hudson Singletary, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at his residence.
Mr. Singletary was born in Sumter County, the son of the late Samuel Willis and Clara Player Singletary. He was retired from Pioneer Dress Co. and from sales for Singer Sewing Center. He was a stock car racer and built race cars. He was a member of Wedgefield Baptist church.
Survivors are: a sister, Laurelle Hartin and her husband, Ed; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy Singletary and a sister, Lucille S. Andrews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wedgefield Baptist Church with the Rev. Darryl Davids officiating. Burial will follow at Wedgefield Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Batten, J.B. Walker, Mike Windham, David Boyce, Harold Truesdale and Pebble Gulledge.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roscoe Foird, Bobby Mellette, C.J. Gulledge and Buddy Gulledge.
