GEORGE W. BREWER
George W. Brewer, 81, husband of Evelyn G. Shank Brewer, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Pinewood, he was a son of the late Richard Lawrence Brewer and Rachel Mabel Wells Brewer.
Mr. Brewer was a member of Southside Baptist Church and a U.S. Army and Navy veteran serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a former employee of the City of Sumter and was a retired self-employed junk dealer.
Surviving are his wife of Sutmer; one son, Ronald D. Brewer and wife, Deleana (Dee), of Sumter; two brothers, William L. Brewer of Florence and Walter M. Brewer of Sumter; one sister, Pearl Geddings of Sumter; one granddaughter, Amanda B. Small; and one great-granddaughter, Brianna N. Small. He was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Sumter cemetery with the Rev. Don Riner officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son, 29 Lanel Drive.

LIZZIE WOODS
ALCOLU -- Lizzie Woods, 84, wife of the late Clifford Addison, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.
Born April 25, 1920, in the Olanta section of Florence County, she was a daughter of late Henry Woods and Julia Rush Woods Rush and stepdaughter of the late Dozier Rush.
The family will receive friends at the home of her niece, Dorothy W. Evins at 5836 Brogdon Road in the Westminster community of Alcolu.
Services will be announced by Samuels Funeral Home LCC of Manning.
GEORGE MACK
George Mack, 58, husband of Annie Kingwood Mack, died Feb. 3, 2005 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 7, 1946, in Orangeburg County, he was a son of Sarah Jane Falder Mack and the late Woodrow Mack Sr.
Mr. Mack's education was obtained in the public schools of Orangeburg county. During his youth, he joined Granger Baptist Church in Elloree. In later years, he joined Oak Grove Baptist Church in Manning and served as Trustee. He was a member of Kind Solomon Masonic Lodge No. 22 in Elloree. He was a professional truck driver for more than 22 years.
Survivors besides his wife and mother include four sons, George Mack Jr. of Sumter, Joseph Baker (Ingrid) and Tony Baker, all of Norwalk, Conn., and Quient F. Baker (Audrey) of Seattle; three daughters, Kim T. Mack and Stacey G. Mack, both of Norwalk, Conn., and Melanie M. Stuke (Marlon) of Sumter; five brothers, Woodrow Mack Jr. of Bridgeport, Conn., Robert Mack (Shelia) of Eutawville; Harry C. Mack (Brenda) of St. Matthews, Thomas Mack (Yvette) of Elloree and Sam Gantt (Jean) of Bridgeport, Conn.; five sisters, Sarah Mae Welfare of Newark, N.J., Martha Dixon of Stratford, Conn. Rebecca Adgerson (Willie W.) of Santee, Frances Mack of Elloree and Ethel Richardson (Roland) of Springfield, Mass.; mother-in-law, Elnather Kingwood of Sumter; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Wake services will be held today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fleming and DeLaine Chapel on Boyce Street in Manning.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Granger Baptist Church in Elloree at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Cokley Richburg officiating.
Burial will be in Granger Baptist Church cemetery in Elloree.
The family will receive friends at the residence at 40 Pioneer Court in Sumter.

HYDRICK W. ARDIS Sr.
HOLLY HILL -- Hydrick Wayne Ardis Sr., 82, husband of Ceclia Crummie Ardis, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at his home.
Born in Paxville, he was a son of the late John Russell Ardis and Ellen Virginia Barwick Ardis.
Mr. Ardis was a member of Northside Memorial Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II in Africa and Italy. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was the retired owner and operator of Ardis Service Center in Sumter.
Surviving are his wife and adopted daughter, Selena Torress, both of Holly Hill; one son, Hydrick Wayne Ardis Jr. and wife, Brenda, of Sumter; three daughters, Brenda K. Green and husband, Wayne, of Lynchburg, Karen Rich and husband, Lee, of Sumter, Pattie Thornhill and husband, Donnie, of Sumter; two brothers, Julian Ardis of Florida and Cleve Ardis of Sumter; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Sumter cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Wayne Ardis, Jon Wayne Green Jr., Michael Ryan Rich, Christopher J. Hawkins, John L. Seabrook IV, Phillip Thomas Hawkins Jr., Dallas D. Welch and Shane Green.

MERIDIAN, Miss. -- Majory Louise Waters Butler, 72, of Meridian, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at her residence.
Mrs. Butler was employed as a floral designer.
Survivors include her husband, B.R. "Bob" Butler of Meridian; a brother, John James Waters Jr. of Charlottesville, Va.; three brothers-in-law, J.E. Butler and wife, Agnes, Charles E. Butler Jr. and Tommy Joe Butler and wife, Eloise, all of Meridian; four sisters-in-law, Earline Mott and husband, B.W., of Enterprise, Miss., Dixie Latimer of Gulfport, Miss., Mary Ruth Loper and husband, Bobby, of Gulfport, Miss., and Willie Merle Reynolds of Meridian; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Livan Brice Waters.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sumter.
Services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church in the Whynot Community with the Rev. Marvin Cooper officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
Pallbearers will be her nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Dearman, Arthur Goodman and Lenard Pouge.

Walter McMillan Sr., 83, husband of Annie Mae McMillan, died February 6, 2005, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born June 10, 1921, in Lee County, he was a son of McKinley McMillan and Bertha Archie McMillan.

Frederick Bradford Sr., 81, widower of Dorothy Mae Gadson Bradford, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Mariner Healthcare of Sumter East.
Born Sept. 23, 1923, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Sam Nicholas Bradford and Elizabeth Campbell Bradford. He was the brother of Essie B. Pringle.

RALPH D. MORROW
Ralph Dean Morrow, 80, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005.
Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Maurice B. Morrow Sr. and the late Elizabeth Davis Morrow. Mr. Morrow was a graduate of Furman University and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a U.S. Air Force World War II veteran and was a retired program analyst for the Federal Aviation Administration. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 15, the VFW and was a former board member of the Sumter County Literacy Association and the Sumter Mental Health Association.
Surviving are a brother, the Rev. Dr. M.B. Morrow Jr. of Gaffney, and a sister, Margaret Morrow Albergotti of Florence.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Morrow Hunt.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. Dr. M.B. Morrow Jr. and the Rev. M.B. Morrow III officiating.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
