Moses Dingle, 88, husband of Alberta Lewis Dingle, died Aug. 12, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born May 13, 1916, in Charleston, he was a son of Moses Dingle Sr. and Hattie Scott Dingle.
The family will receive friends at his home, 716 N. Main St., Sumter.

GREGORY P. McCOY
Gregory P. McCoy died Aug. 12, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 20, 1989, in Bronx, N.Y., he was a son of Herbert Nathaniel McCoy and Audrey Evans McCoy.
The family will receive friends at 2855 Rush St., Lynchburg.

THEOLA THOMAS
BISHOPVILLE -- Mrs. Theola Thomas died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at her residence, 410 Fountain Hill Drive, Bishopville.
She was the wife of Mr. Willie James Thomas. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Ora Lee Marche.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at New Bethel AME Church, Bishopville, with the Rev. Jerome McCray, pastor, and the Rev. Joshua Dupree, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. John cemetery.

MELVIN L. EMORE
COLUMBIA -- Memorial service for Melvin Lewelyn Emore, 70, will be held at VFW Post 641 at a later date.

Mr. Emore died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004.
Born in Reading, Pa., he was a son of the late Stewart W. and Clara Mengle Emore. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 until 1980, retiring as aircraft propulsion superintendent at Shaw Air Force Base with the rank of senior master sergeant. After retirement, he graduated from Sumter Technical College and became actively involved in the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served as quartermaster for the Sumter Post 3034 for several years, adjutant quartermaster for the State of South Carolina VFW for nine years, and commander of the State of South Carolina VFW 2001-2002.
Surviving are his son, Stewart W. Emore of San Francisco, Calif.; daughters, Barbara A. Emore of Greentown, Ind., and Tracy Kauffman of Royal Center, Ind.; brother, Richard Emore of Reading, Pa.; three grandchildren; a niece and a nephew.
MARY B. FORD
Mary Bochette Ford, 94, widow of George Herbert Ford, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at her home.
Services will be announced by Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter.
BERTIE MAE D. SCOTT
EAST ORANGE, N.J. -- Mrs. Bertie Mae Dickey Scott entered into eternal rest on Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, in an East Orange, N.J., hospital, after an illness.
She was born in Lynchburg on Jan. 12, 1921, to the late Julius Dickey Sr. and Janie Gamble Dickey. Mrs. Scott attended the public schools of Lee County and, at an early age, she joined Warren Chapel United Methodist Church. As a young lady, she moved to Newark, N.J., where she met and married
the late Arthur Scott.
Those left to cherish her memories include one stepdaughter, Mrs. Maude Patrick, and one stepson, Mr. Robert Scott, both of Newark, N.J.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Lillie Bell Dickey of Lake City; six step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Three brothers, one sister, one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law preceded Mrs. Scott in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Warren Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rufus L. Snowden officiating and the Rev. Mary J. Snowden assisting. Burial will be in Hawkins cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the home of her niece, Mrs. Calistine Boone, at 85 Lesane St., Lynchburg.

ISRAEL HOUCK Jr.
Israel "Bubba" Houck Jr., 84, widower of Juanita Houck, died Aug. 12, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 15, 1919, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Israel Houck Sr. and Elise Smith Houck Glisson.
The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Mrs. Ellen Coleman, 615 Duffie Drive, Wedgefield, SC 29168.
Services will be announced by Job's Mortuary Inc. of Sumter.
GILBERT R. ROGERS
Mr. Gilbert R. Rogers, 57, husband of Linda Windham Rogers, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends Monday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory, 221 Broad St., is in charge of arrangements.
MARY BOCHETTE FORD
Mary Bochette Ford, 94, widow of George Herbert Ford, died Friday, August 13, 2004, at her home.
Born in Summerton, she was a daughter of the late Archie Canty Bochette and the late Eugenia Bochette Lee.
She was a member of Wedgefield Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Robert Ford of Camden; four daughters, Earline Cromer and her husband, W.L., Jacqueline Ardis, Joyce Glasscock and her husband, Steve, and Betty Jo "B.J." Davis and her husband, Wylie all of Sumter; two step-sons, H.R. Ford and his wife, Mary Ann of Wedgefield, and H.C. Ford and his wife, Gloria of Sumter; a sister, Lelia Pierce of Timmonsville; 15 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Boykin; a step-son, O.B. Ford, and a step-daughter, Darkis Powers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home with Dr. James Chandler and the Rev. Ronald B. Bower officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Rosa Linton died Aug. 13, 2004, at Mariner Healthcare West.

ADA LINTON
Ada Linton, 83, died Aug. 6, 2004, at Cheltenham York & Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Sumter on Oct. 4, 1920, she was the daughter of Genia James Linton and the late Albert Linton, Sr.
Ms. Linton was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. She received strong Christian training and guidance as a member of Clark United Methodist Church, Sumter. After moving to Philadelphia in 1940, she united with Zoar United Methodist Church where she was an active and faithful member having served on several committees and organizations. She was employed by Miller's Custom Made Draperies of Philadelphia until her retirement in 1973.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Hester (Sam) Clark, Philadelphia, and Ms. Neily B. Mouzon of Sumter; one brother, James (Albertha) Linton, Philadelphia; a step-sister, Julia Sigler, Charlotte, N.C. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by nine siblings.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Parlor of Job's Mortuary, 312 S. Main St. Officiating ministers are the Rev. Willie Wilson and the Rev. Lee C. Bines. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park.
The family is receiving friends at the home of her sister, Ms. Neily Mouzon, 832 N. Main St., Sumter.
GENESIS MAPLE GODARD
Genesis Maple Godard, 38, died Aug. 13, 2004, in Sumter. Born April 10, 1966, in Sumter County to Mary Ruth Farmer Maple and the late Johnnie Lee Maple, she is survived by husband Carl Godard.
The family will receive friends at her home at 3340 Bluff Drive in Dalzell.

LAWRENCE W. DEAS Sr.
CAMDEN -- Lawrence W. "Dock" Deas Sr., 78, husband of Betty Hatfield Deas, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at Baptist Hospital in Columbia.
Born in Lee County, on May 7, 1926, he was the son of the late John E. Deas and the late Mamie H. Deas. He farmed in Lee County from childhood until the mid 1970s, served in the U.S. Army in the early 1950s, and retired from DuPont in 1984 after 34 years of distinguished service. He was a lifelong member of Mizpah Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities including deacon, Sunday school teacher, music director and member of the choir.
Dock is survived by his wife of 54 years; two daughters, Vicki Baker and her husband, William, of Sumter and Sandra Love and her husband, Scott, of Camden; a son, Larry Deas and his wife, Janice, of Fort Mill; eight grandchildren, Lance Cpl. Jonathan Stokes and his wife, Dana, Talley Truesdale III, Amy Baker, Dawn Broughton and her husband, Eric, Erin Baker, Kristen Truesdale, Weldon Deas and Lauren Deas; two great-grandchildren, Cassandra Broughton and Karrie Broughton; and four sisters, Lola Roscoe, Edna Kennedy, Lila Hodge and Doris Jones.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Heyward Deas and J.B. Deas; and two sisters, Bertha Stokes and Sally Register.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Will Kline, the Rev. Von Cockerill and the Rev. Ronnie Holland officiating.
Burial will be in the Mizpah Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at the home, 4780 Jamestown Road, Camden.
