LUCIOUS ISAAC Sr.
Lucious Isaac Sr., 63, husband of Annie Epps Isaac, died July 22, 2004, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
Born March 24, 1941, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Mason Isaac and Evelina Pershay Isaac.
He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age. He joined the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church during his youth years. He later attended Living Church of Jesus Christ in McBee. He was educated in the public schools of Lee County. At an early age, he started singing with the "Singing Cousins," then later joined "The Golden Five." He enjoyed recording and traveling with the group. He was employed by Infinger Transportation (Florida Rock) for more than 30 years, where he received numerous safety awards. He was a giving, caring and sharing person. His laughter was his trademark and his winning smile will always be remembered.
Survivors besides his wife include two sons, Lucious (Annette) Isaac Jr. of Bishopville and Bruce (Carletta) Isaac of Columbia, three daughters, Luciana Isaac of Columbia, Lakeisha Isaac of Florence, Shiza Isaac of the home; one stepdaughter, Melissa (Renard) Belsar; two brothers, Robert Lee Isaac of Sumter and Roosevelt (Hattie) Isaac of Rembert; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mason Isaac Jr., and a sister, Azalee Isaac Green.
The remains will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Mt. Pleasant Middle School in Elliott.
Bishop B.L. James will officiate.
Burial will be in Mechanicsville Cemetary, Bishopville.
The funeral procession will leave at 1:15 p.m. from the home at 1380 Pudding Swamp Road, Lynchburg.

SUSAN JEFFORDS
COLUMBIA -- Graveside service for Susan C. Jeffords, 49, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is in charge.
Mrs. Jeffords died Thursday, July 22, 2004. Born in Dayton, Ohio, she was a daughter of Leila Clark Mattox and the late Benjamin Paul Mattox. A 1976 graduate of Clemson University, she was a member of Chi Omega.
Surviving are daughters, Erin Jeffords of Charlotte, N.C., and Hayden Jeffords of Clemson; her mother of Sumter; sister, Paulette M. Willard of Columbia.
Mrs. Jeffords was loved by many and will be missed by all.
JAMES MACK
James Mack, 78, husband of Ernestine Smalls Mack, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at his home, 131 Providence St.
Born Oct. 13, 1926, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Jarett and Martha Mack. The family will receive friends at the home, 131 Providence St.
Services will be announced by Williams Funeral Home Inc.
CEDRIC MOORE
Cedric Moore, 23 died on Saturday, July 24, 2004, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia. Born in Sumter County on Dec. 7, 1980, he was a son of Bernadine Moore and Robert Lee Gregg.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his uncle and aunt, Franklin and Harriett Moore, 488 Allen Drive in Sumter.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Palmer Memorial Chapel of Sumter.
HOWARD VOGEL
Howard "Neal" Vogel Jr., 44, died Friday, July 23, 2004.
Born in Atlanta, he was a son of the late Howard Neal Vogel Sr. and the late Virginia "Ginny" Lee Fenters Vogel.
He attended Wise Drive Baptist Church and was employed by Boyle Collision Center.
Survivors include a brother, Carl Ray Vogel and his wife, Marci, of Powder Springs, Ga.; three sisters, Salley Ruth Hooker of Sulphur, La., Suzanne Moore and her husband, Wayne, of Sumter, Peggy Diane Graham and her husband, Michael of Newnan, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Dearld Sterling officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge, Ga.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of his sister, 1211 Rockdale Blvd.

Essex Durant Jr., 51, husband of Bertha M. Durant, departed this life on Saturday, July 24, 2004, in Clarendon County. Born Oct. 10, 1952, in Sumter County, he was the son the late Essex and Dora Rhames Durant Sr. The family will receive friends at the home, 22 Lakeside Drive, Sumter.

MODENA HOOD
Modena Hood, 90, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Hood and the late Maggie Lou Oxendine Hood.
Miss Hood was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church.
Surviving are one sister, Nina Lee Benenhaley of North Augusta and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Long Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Carroll Waddell, Dr. Eleazer Benenhaley and Rev. Charles Carter officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Clayton Benenhaley, Wilbur Benenhaley, Timothy Benenhaley, Robby Carter, David Hood, Calvin Still and Harvey Hood.

ELIZABETH RICH WITHERSPOON
GABLE -- Elizabeth Rich Witherspoon, 68, wife of Joseph Thomas Witherspoon Jr., died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Colclough Chovine Rich and the late Ruby Elise Bradham Rich.
Mrs. Witherspoon was a lifetime member of Concord Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the church choir. She was a retired nurse and a hospice volunteer.
Surviving are her husband of Gable; a sister, Gloria Rich Hickman of Manning; a grandson, Robert Blake of Maine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Thomas Witherspoon III.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Concord Presbyterian Church with the Rev. William Albert officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

LAKE CITY -- Mrs. Ruth Chandler Smith, 87, widow of Roy Smith, died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Carolinas Hospital System, Florence.
She was born May 2, 1917, in Clarendon County.

Sandra Elaine Lloyd Epps, 49, widow of Erwin I. Epps, died Sunday, July 25, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late William Leon Lloyd and the late Virginia Fields Lloyd.
Surviving are three sons, Robert Taylor of Carthage, N.Y., Michael Taylor and Charles Epps, both of Sumter; a daughter, Michelle Epps of Sumter; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Mack Hemingway officiating.
Burial will be in Zoar Community cemetery.
