PHILADELPHIA – Lillian Lesane Weary, 71, wife of William Weary, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.
Born Feb. 25, 1933, in Mayesville, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Flora Solomon Lesane.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 2175 Avenue A in Mayesville.

LUCILE J. McCOY
ORANGEBURG – Mrs. Lucile Johnson McCoy, 94, of 948 Whittaker Parkway in Orangeburg, died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter.
The casket will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at New Bethel Baptist Church in Orangeburg with the Rev. Nathaniel Preston officiating. Burial will be in Belleville Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg.
Born Sept. 19, 1909, she was a daughter of the late Mr. Riley Braswell and the late Mrs. Suda Burns (Benny) Johnson. Mrs. Lucile Johnson McCoy was born in Elm City, N.C. She received her formal education in the public schools of Richmond, Va., and Elm City. At an early age, she began working in the local church. After marrying her late husband of 40 years, they settled in Orangeburg, where she joined New Bethel Baptist Church and served as mother of the church. She was the widow of the late Chester McCoy. She was preceded in death by a brother, Riley Braswell Jr.; and a very special aunt, Mrs. Maggie Burns.
Survivors include a son, Chester B. McCoy of Orangeburg; a daughter-in-law, Mary McCoy of Sumter; two grandsons, Charles (Angela) McCoy and Lonnie (Gale) McCoy, all of Sumter; four great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Ned Braswell of Camden, N.J.; and other relatives and friends.

ELIZABETH L. WHITE
Elizabeth "Bessie" L. White, 89, died Monday, March 22, 2004, at a local nursing center.
Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin C. White and the late Martha Murray White.
Miss White was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross at Stateburg and was a retired registered nurse at Tuomey hospital with 42 years of service in obstetrics.
Surviving are one sister, Martha W. Kearney of Sumter; one nephew, William E. White Jr.; one niece, Susan M. White of Sumter; one great-niece, Elizabeth White of Sumter.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William E. White Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross Chapel with the Rev. Richard Archer officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 tonight at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.

GREELEYVILLE – Davis Laford Richburg, 74, husband of Genevieve "Genny" Eaddy Richburg, died Monday, March 22, 2004, at his home in Greeleyville.
Born April 29, 1929, in Foreston, he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Carrie Holladay Richburg. He was a retired truck driver for Mishoe Oil. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion Post and VFW in Kingstree.
Mr. Richburg leaves behind his wife of Greeleyville; two daughters, Dawn (Billy) Reardon of Lexington and Janet (Randy) Elvington of Florence; two stepdaughters, Joyce B. Witherspoon of Kingstree and Charlene (Greg) B. Moses of Florence; a brother, Walter Richbourg of Manning; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ben Richburg.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 24, 2004, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning. Burial will follow in Foreston cemetery.

Myrtle Billups Gibson, 86, widow of James S. Gibson Sr., died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at her home.
Born in Summerton, she was a daughter of the late Alphonzo W. Billups and the late Clara Bounds Billups. Mrs. Gibson was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
Surviving are two sons, James S. Gibson Jr. of Beaufort and Jack W. Gibson of Sumter; four daughters, Kathy Murdock of Columbia, Clara Ward of Nakina, N.C., Marie Beaver of Hurricane, W.Va., and Elaine Secrist of Winona, W.Va.; a brother, James T. Billups of Trussville, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stephen Taylor and the Rev. Phil Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Trinity United Methodist Church Fellowship Sunday School Class.

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Eugene Douglas Ham Jr., of Wilmington, died Monday, March 22, 2004.
He was born Feb. 18, 1940, in Sumter, the son of the late Eugene Douglas and Alene Skipper Ham. Mr. Ham was retired from CP&L after 38 years of service. He was a Master Mason and a member of Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rose Coker Ham; two sons, Rick Ham and wife, Heather, of Chesapeake, Va., and Ed Ham and wife, Amy, of Morrisville, N.C.; three grandchildren, David and Kelly Ham and Chloe Barrington-Ham; and a sister, Ann Geddings of Sumter.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today in Andrews Hampstead Chapel. Entombment will follow in the Sealawn Mausoleum.

Lauderdale, Carrie Byrd of Virginia, Ella Graham, Ruby Barr and Cora (Edward) Soles, all of Lake City, and Annie Hannah of Florence; one brother, Henry (Queen) Wallace of Florida; two sisters, Corine (Robert) Gist and Verlene Spates of Lake City; 39 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

MANNING -- Pauline Blackmon Hodge Bryant, widow of George A. Bryant Sr., died Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter.
Born Jan. 1, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Leance Hartsville and Rowena Frierson Blackmon. She was first married
to the late Herbert "Bink" N. Hodge Sr. Mrs. Bryant was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Paulette Thames of Kingstree; four sons, Herbert N. Hodge Jr. and Harold G. Hodge Sr. of Sumter and George A. Bryant Jr. and Thomas Paul Bryant of Manning; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mildred Ann Witherspoon.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Pec Chatham and the Rev. Tommy Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in Manning cemetery.
