Claude Stokes, 46, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born July 1, 1957, in Macon, Ga., he was a son of Maron Thomas Stokes and the late William Wines.

ELLIOTT M. ROBBINS
AIKEN -- Elliott Matthew Robbins, 52, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at his residence, 201 North Gate Circle, Aiken.
Born Jan. 25, 1951, in Rock Hill, he was a son of the late Matthew Robbins and Ida Worthy Robbins.
The family will receive friends at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Worthy "Tex" and Emma Robbins, 1278 Little Star Road, Manning.

CAMDEN -- Funeral services for Rozene Dority Stokes, 88, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Antioch Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth Bouldin and the Rev. Gene Stokes will officiate.

Mrs. Stokes, widow of Clifton C. Stokes, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004. Born in Bishopville, she was the daughter of the late Henry Pinckney and Mary Atkinson Dority. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Bobby McCaskill, Joyce and Ravon Spencer, Marian and Warren McGill, Marlene and Randy Deas, all of the Antioch community, Linda and Norman Dillingham of Terrell, N.C., Iris and Bob Latham of Rock Hill; sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Hazel Stokes of Inman and Kenneth and Angela Stokes of Augusta, Ga.; 23 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Brown of Bishopville.

Bobby Sylvester Jennings, 51, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Willie E. Blair, 74, widower of Thelma Glencamp Blair, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at his home, 920 Collins St.
Born Dec. 14, 1929, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Charles and Annie Singleton Blair.

JAMES BRADLEY TALLON Sr.
LAMAR -- Jimmy Tallon, 84, of Lamar, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Lamar First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Lamar cemetery directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home of Lamar.
Mr. Tallon was born in Sumter County. He was the son of the late Paul Kistler and Annie Laurie Gopfert Tallon. Mr. Tallon served his country in the United States Army. While in the Army, he was a member of the last division of the Horse Calvary. Mr. Tallon was a member of the Lamar First Baptist Church, where he taught the Senior Citizens Men's Class No. 1. Mr. Tallon worked for the South Carolina Highway Department for many years before retiring in 1971. After his retirement, he became a teacher, having taught auto mechanics at the Darlington Career Center, Chesterfield-Marlboro Technical College, and Florence-Darlington Technical College. Mr. Tallon was also a member of the Lamar American Legion Post No. 94. Jimmy loved his family, his friends, and his church. He also enjoyed spending time at the "Ponderosa, " where he raised his many animals.
Mr. Tallon was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mrs. Meda Randolph Tallon.
Survivors include his son, James Bradley Tallon Jr. and Penny of Lynchburg; two daughters, Sara Ann and Charles Caban of Marietta, Ga., and Miriam and Bradley Swiler of Florence; one brother, William G. and Mary Tallon of Elgin; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. today at Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home in Lamar.

MARIE D. JONES
Marie Drayton Jones, 45, wife of 23 years to Matthew Jones Jr., died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 14, 1958, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of James Drayton Sr. and the late Inez Porcher Drayton. She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Sumter High School. She attended Central Carolina Technical College, where she studied early childhood development and nursing. She accepted Christ in her life and was a faithful and dedicated member of Beulah UME Church, where she served in various capacities including juvenile president, junior missionary vice president, missionary department secretary, Sunday school teacher of the junior class, and a devoted youth leader.
Survivors include three daughters, Cateshia Syntrell Pinkney, Delketria and Edwinayah Drayton, all of Sumter; eight brothers, James (Rosemary) Jr., Albertus (Andrea), Curtis (Vickie), Michael (Kenyetta), Lee Otis, Francis, Tyrone and Stacey, all of Sumter; five sisters, Linda (Leroy) McLeod, Beatrice (Willie) Charles, Geneva (Johnny) LaCosta, all of Sumter, Mary (Jasper) Edwards and Tracey Drayton, both of Mount Holly, N.J.; and one grandchild, Shy'Heem Tyshrionne Bobby Pinkney of Sumter.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Drayton Vasquez.
The remains will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Beulah UME Church, Wedgefield, with the Rev. Jackie Holland, pastor, assisted by Pastor Barbara Davis, Elder Roosevelt Boyd, Minister Ivory Mitchell, Elder James Drayton Jr. and Minister Loretta Jones.
Burial will be in Beulah UME Churchyard cemetery, Wedgefield.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Lillie Baxter Hamilton, 85, widow of Jerry Hamilton, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 7, 1918, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Nazareth and Luetisha Tindal Baxter.

JOHN EDMUND W. REEVES
John Edmund Wellesley Reeves, 77, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, in Cambridge, England.
Born and educated in New Zealand, he taught chemistry at Felsted and Gordonstoun Schools in England and Scotland until 1969. Mr. Reeves served as an education specialist at Teheran University from 1969-1971 and from 1971-1986 as an education consultant for the British Council in Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria and Bangladesh. After retirement, he served as a science education consultant for the Asian Development Bank.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan Mary Reeves; a daughter, Virginia Corley of Sumter; a son, Philip Reeves of India; and another daughter, Sally Evans of Cambridge; their spouses; and five grandchildren, including Helen Corley of the College of Charleston, and Matthew Corley of Sumter.
Funeral services were Jan. 16, at Great St Mary's Church, Cambridge, England.
SUSANNAH LESANE
JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Susannah Lesane, 76, widow of Julius Lesane, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at Greenville Hospital, Jersey City, N.J.
Born March 30, 1927, in Alcolu, she was a daughter of the late Edster Tomlin Sr. and Alice Blackwell Tomlin. She received her education at Westminister Public School in Clarendon County. At an early age, she received Christ and was baptized. She relocated to Jersey City, N.J., and joined New Hope Baptist Church, where her favorite song was "May the Work I've Done Speak For Me." Years later, she joined New Bethel Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member for more than 20 years. "Sue, " as she was affectionately known, was employed for more than 15 years at Jonathan Logan, until they closed. For the next 15 years, she worked at Central Laundry with many of her friends. Her last 15 years before retirement were spent in the Dietary Department at Greenville Hospital.
Survivors include her only child, Alice (Walter) McLeod; three sisters, Sarah China, Mary Kennedy and Ann McFadden, all of Sumter; four granddaughters, Geraldine (Melvin) Williams, Jacqueline (John) McLeod-Williams, Suzette (Derrick) DeLoach and Deaconess Lakeisha (Deacon Michael) Lynch; 12 great-grandchildren; three aunts; three sisters-in-law; a special friend of more than 35 years, Otis Jenkins of Jersey City, N.J.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Leroy, John Wesley, Lee and Willie Tomlin; and one sister, Naomi Tomlin.
The body will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul AME Church, Plowden Mill Road, with the Rev. Dr. B.J. Glover, pastor.
Burial will be in Durant cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the home of her sister, Mary Kennedy, 1890 Roche Road, Sumter 29153.
