Mary Taylor
KERSHAW - Mrs. Mary Katherine Mills Taylor, 76, of 4693 Bethune Road died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Abney Baptist Church, with the Revs. Todd Morris, Mendel Baker and Larry Plyler officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Pageland, Mrs. Taylor was a daughter of the late John Pardue and Frances Cornelia Tadlock Mills. She was retired from Kendell and a member of Abney Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. She was a member of the WMU and Sunshine Senior Adult Club.
Surviving are her husband, Ernest Donson Taylor; her son, Ernest Carroll Taylor of Kershaw; her daughter, Wanda Kay McManus of Kershaw; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home Kershaw Chapel and other times at home.

Allen Thompson
MORRISTOWN, N.J. - Mr. Allen J. Thompson, 71, formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at Morristown Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be noon Wednesday at the Church of God and Christ in Morristown. Burial will be at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Thompson was a son of Eliza Joseph Thompson of Rock Hill. He worked at the A.W. Alward Company Inc. of Bernardsville, N.J. He was a member of the Laborers International Union of North America No. 472 and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Lillie Shanklin Thompson; his son, Larry Thompson of Hopatcong, N.J.; his daughter, Gisell Thompson of Morristown; his brother, Frank Thompson of Rock Hill; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the church.

CLOVER - Mrs. Carolyn Thomas Brown of 305 Cedarhurst Drive died Friday, March 28, 2003, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C.

Sarah Brown
UNION - Mrs. Sarah Benfield Brown, 79, of Union, formerly of York, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Oakmont Nursing Home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Bratton Funeral Home in York, with the Rev. James L. Correll officiating. Burial will be at Oakbrook Memorial Park in Greenwood.
A native of York County, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Jack K. Benfield Sr. and Annie Lee McFarland Benfield. She was a public school teacher and taught in Charlotte, Greenwood, Charleston, W.Va., and the Roanoke, Va., school systems. She did her undergraduate and graduate studies at Winthrop University. She was a published poet and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in York. She was the widow of Harold M. Brown.
Surviving are her son, Stephen Benfield Brown of Abbeville; her daughter, Kathryn Brown Ramsperger of Rockville, Md.; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Kathleen Caskey
GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Kathleen Dew Caskey, 81, of Ridgeway Road died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at Lexington Medical Center in Lexington.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Greenlawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Roberts officiating.
A native of Sumter County, Mrs. Caskey was a daughter of the late Walter L. Dew and Jeanette Tallon Dew. She was a homemaker was a member of Great Falls First Baptist Church. She attended Sumter County schools. She was the widow of Keiver Moore Caskey.
Surviving are two daughters, Christine Caskey Ulmer of Cameron and Sonja Caskey Turner of Jacksonville, Fla.; her brother, J.T. Dew of Bishopville; her sister, Helen Harrison of Macon, Ga.; and her grandchild.
The family will receive friends after the service.

YORK - Mr. James Franklin "Jay" Collins, 46, of 513 California Circle died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at New Home AME Zion Church, with Dr. C.J. Jenkins officiating and Evangelist Diane June Smart conducting the eulogy. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of York, Mr. Collins was a son of the late Albert Collins and Kather Hills McConnell.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Rhodes Collins; four sons, James Franklin Hughes of York, Clarence Rhodes of Fairfax, and Tio Rhodes and James Rhodes, both of the home; three daughters, Tina Rhodes and LaShawn Rhodes, both of the home, and Teresa Rhodes of York; two brothers, William Collins and Robert McConnell, both of Rock Hill; seven sisters, Dorothy Burris, Josephine Hope and Annie Mae McConnell, all of York, Christine Burris of High Point, N.C., and Ellen Collins, Elaine McConnell and Janie McConnell, all of Fort Mill; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at home.
The body may be viewed from 4 to 7:30 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Sunday.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Clarence Lansing Hungerford III, 63, of 463 E. Baskin Road died Tuesday, March 25, 2003.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Grandview Memorial Park, Hollis Lakes, with the Rev. Jerry Devinney officiating.
A native of Horsehead, N.Y., Mr. Hungerford was a son of the late Clarence Lansing Hungerford II and Anna O'Buckley Hungerford. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Anna Hamblin Hungerford; three sons, Donald Davis of Horsehead, Clarence Hungerford IV of Kershaw and Douglas Hungerford of Rock Hill; six daughters, Dawn Davis of Anchorage, Alaska, Cynthia Hayes and Wendy Ceece, both of Horsehead, Sandra Davis of Phoenix and Jill Hungerford and Nancy Hungerford, both of Rock Hill; his brother, Charles O'Buckley of Trinity, N.C.; his sister, Sharon Peete of Myrtle Beach; and 15 grandchildren.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Barbara Robinson McDaniel, 69, of 2151 McConnells Highway died Friday, March 28, 2003, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Bethesda Presbyterian Church in York, with the Rev. David Bender officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.
A native of Lowrys, Mrs. McDaniel was a daughter of the late James Richard Robinson and Nannie VanTassel Robinson. She was a homemaker and was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her husband, Bobby McDaniel; her daughter, Allison Paul of Rock Hill; four sisters, Madeline Hagler, Dorothy Gordon, Jean Blackmon and Nettie Benfield, all of York; and three grandchildren.

SHARON - Mr. Corey Sebastian Slaughter, 31, of 4784 Lockhart Road died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Bratton Funeral Home in York, with the Rev. Tommy Hope officiating and the Rev. Tony Grant assisting. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in York.
A native of York County, Mr. Slaughter was a son of Roger Slaughter of York. He was a truck driver for Waste Management Co. in Gastonia, N.C., and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian faith.
Surviving in addition to his father are his wife, Mandy Chambers Slaughter; his son, Chase Slaughter of the home; his brother, Oliver Slaughter of Rock Hill; and his paternal grandparents, Ivan Cook and Alice Cook of York.

LANCASTER - Mrs. Mildred Johnson Small, 70, of 1429 Pine Springs Drive died Friday, March 28, 2003, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at High Point Free Will Baptist Church, with the Revs. Randall White and Tim Larrimore officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Small was a daughter of Pearl Carter Johnson of Lancaster and the late Gilbert Johnson. She was a member of the High Point Free Will Baptist Church and was retired from Springs Industries.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her son, Bruce Marion Small Sr. of Lancaster; her brother, Wayne Johnson of Taff, Calif.; four sisters, Ruth Taylor of Lancaster, Shirley Cook of North Myrtle Beach, Doris Peck of Newport News, Va., and Helen "Shelby" Williams of Clover; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
