CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Martha Hardrick "Mama Martha" Robbins, 101, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Mount Hopewell Baptist Church in York, with the Rev. John Gerald officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Mrs. Robbins was the widow of John Robbins Sr.
Surviving are four sons, Josie Robbins, James Robbins, Obadiah Robbins and John Robbins, all of Charlotte; four daughters, Ozella Goode, Jessie Foster and Martha Harris, all of Charlotte, and Maggie McCluney of Chester; her sister, Letha Goode of Charlotte; 53 grandchildren; 109 great-grandchildren; and 67 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Gethsemane Baptist Church.

Evangeline Smith
LANCASTER - Mrs. Evangeline "Vangie" "BB" Smith, 82, died Thursday, May 17, 2001.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Charlotte. Burial will be at Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia, N.C.
A native of Monroe, N.C., Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Guy M. Broome and Lilly Blake Haney Broome. She was a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church and was a former member of Enderly Park Baptist Church. She was a member of Paw Creek Legion Auxiliary. She was an accountant at Ivey's and Dillard's department stores and graduated from Harding High School in 1938. She was the widow of Jack Smith.
Surviving are two daughters, Jacque Linderman of Lancaster and Barbara Veste of Geneva, Fla.; her brother, George W. Broome of Charlotte; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Eastern Hills Baptist Church.

YORK - Mr. Harry Lee Wing Jr., 49, of 1370 Springlake Road died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be private.
A native of Kansas City, Mo., Mr. Wing was a son of the late Harry Lee Wing Sr. and Lillie Marie Sanders Wing. He was an assistant manager at Intermont Terminal in Charlotte.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Walker Wing; two daughters, Angela Boswell of Oklahoma and Sherry Wing of Tennessee; his brother, Robert Wing of Oklahoma; three sisters, Linda Lanning, Lorraine W. Jones and Cherokee W. Sourjohn, all of Oklahoma; and two grandchildren.

RICHBURG - Mrs. Mary Lorena "Rena" Wylie, 83, of Lakeview Living Center in Pineville, N.C., died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Mercy Hospital South in Charlotte.

11 a.m. Saturday at Union Cemetery in Richburg, with the Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating.
A native of Chester County, Mrs. Wylie was a daughter of the late Joseph Carson Keenan and Macie Louise McGarity Keenan. She was a former cafeteria worker for Chester schools. She was a former member of Richburg Presbyterian Church and graduated from Oakley Hall High School. She was the widow of Owens Thomas Wylie.
Surviving are her daughter, Janice Walker of Stallings, N.C.; her brother, Carson Keenan of Chester; her sister, Ellen K. Revels of Chester; and her granddaughter.

LANCASTER - Miss Geraldine Ashley, 62, of 1238 Wallace St. died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

A native of Lancaster, Miss Ashley was a daughter of the late Benjamin Kelly Ashley and Madge Thomas Ashley. She retired from Springs Industries.
Surviving are her brother, Jimmy Ashley of Lancaster; and three sisters, Christine Caskey of Winnsboro and Roberta Ellis and Vivian Ellis, both of Lancaster.

Joyce Barwick
GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Joyce Williams Barwick, 74, of 300 Duke St. died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Darrell Twitty officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
A native of Great Falls, Mrs. Barwick was a daughter of the late Herman Pearson Williams and Della Thompson Williams. She was a retired registered nurse, having been a hospital nurse most of her career before working in home health care. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she served on the hostess committee and as church treasurer. She also taught the children's Sunday school class. She graduated from Great Falls High School and received her nursing degree from Greenville General Hospital in 1947.
Surviving are her husband, Julian W. "Buzz" Barwick; two sons, Larry Barwick of Pawleys Island and Albert Barwick of Wagner; her daughter, Cindy Owings of Great Falls; her brother, Albert Williams of Lexington, Ky; and four grandchildren.

James Douthitt
DUARTE, Calif. - The Rev. James B. Douthitt, 92, died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Buena Vista Manor.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif., with the Rev. Cynthia Reyes-Fillmore officiating.
The Rev. Douthitt was a retired Presbyterian minister and served pastorates in Colorado, Nebraska, Arizona and California. From 1945 to 1954, he was pastor-evangelist at Ganado Mission on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona. In 1954, he began a new church in Whittier, which he served for 19 years.
Surviving are his wife, Levia Douthitt; his son, Kenneth Douthitt of Yakima, Wash.; and his daughter, Marilyn Magers of Rock Hill.

CHESTER - Mr. Samuel Davie Sr. of 620 Omega Drive died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at Chester County Hospital.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Gethsemane Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Charles D. Pratt officiating. Burial will be at the Davie family cemetery on Darby Road.
A native of Chester County, Mr. Davie was a son of the late Willie Bell Guy Davie and Charlie Davie. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and retired from Springs. He was the widower of Olenther Caldwell Davie.
Surviving are three sons, Charles Willie Davie of Raywood, Texas, Samuel Davie Jr. of Chester and Robert Davie of California; five daughters, Carrie Davie and Olenther Davie, both of the home, Wilma Digby of York, Arnetta Curry of Clover and Betty Brice of Chester; 40 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of his grandson, Ronnie Davie, 812 Darby Road.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the chapel of Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road.

Madge McCall
BELMONT, N.C. - Mrs. Madge Mills McCall, 74, of 122 Oak St. died Friday, May 18, 2001, at home.
The funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church in Belmont, with Father Richard P. Hokanson officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

A native of Gaston County, N.C., Mrs. McCall was a daughter of the late George Mills and Lela Mae Hancock Mills. She was a member of Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church, where she was involved with the Catholic Daughters. She was a member of St. Ann's Guild Women's Club and was a Eucharistic minister. She was retired from Piedmont Plastics in Charlotte, where she worked in the shipping department. She formerly worked at Belmont Abbey College in the monastery.
Surviving are her son, James Boyd "Bud" McCall of Gastonia; five daughters, Diane Rhinehardt of Kannapolis, N.C., Catherine "Tip" Overcash of Gastonia, Martha Cook of Charlotte, Bobbie Huntsinger of Smyrna and Patty Summitt of Dallas, N.C.; her brother, Edgar Hancock of Belmont; five sisters, Mildred Laye and Donna Keppes, both of Mount Holly, N.C., Jackie Sparks of Gastonia, Mitty Wentz of Concord, N.C., and Maxine Robinson of Belmont; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. McManus was a daughter of the late Johnny Carnes and Sally Small Carnes. She was a homemaker and was a member of Springhill Baptist Church. She was the widow of David D. McManus.
Surviving are two daughters, Peggy McManus of Lancaster and Sally Roberts of Mooresville, N.C.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her great-great-granddaughter.

A native of Clinton, Mrs. Massey was a daughter of the late Troy Clyde and Ethel Morris Smith. She was a member of Fourth Street Baptist Church. She was the widow of William Lee Massey.
Surviving are two sons, Hiram L. Massey of Hartsville and the Rev. Kevin Massey of Darlington; two daughters, Joan Odom of Hartsville and Dianne Massey of Rock Hill; her brother, Troy C. Smith Jr. of Easley; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

William Atkins
ROCK HILL - Mr. William "Bill" George Atkins, 79, of 3507 Midwood Road died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Tirzah ARP Church, with the Rev. Jan Senneker and Dr. S. Barry Eller officiating. A graveside service will be Monday at New Silverbrook Cemetery in Anderson, with the Rev. Floyd Junior Stansell officiating.
A native of Anderson County, Mr. Atkins was a son of the late Samuel Horace Atkins and Delma Pilgrim Atkins. He was a 1950 graduate of Clemson University and retired from Interstate Milling-A.D.M. in Charlotte. He was a member of Tirzah ARP Church and was a former deacon at first United Methodist Church in Royston, Ga. He was a former president of the chamber of commerce in Royston and was a former Royston city councilman. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received the Bronze Star. He was a member of the American Legion Frank Roach Post No. 34, the Veteran of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita Allen Atkins; two sons, Henry Kirk of Rock Hill and Todd Atkins of Roanoke, Va.; two daughters, Kathryn Atkins Morgan of Kansas City, Mo., and Sandra Atkins Graham of Spartanburg; his brother, Edward Atkins of LaGrange, Ga.; his sister, Louise Ham of Anderson; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.

A native of St. Paul, Minn., Mr. Terlinde was a son of the late William A. Terlinde. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was of the Baptist faith. He was senior project manager at AME, Inc., with more than 20 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Adam Terlinde; two sons, Michael Scott "Scotty" Terlinde of Rock Hill and Kenneth "Kenny" William Terlinde of the home; two daughters, Kelly Denise Terlinde of the home and Rebecca "Becky" Louise Terlinde of Myrtle Beach; his brother, Lloyd Terlinde of Rock Hill; two sisters, Pat Sutton of Rock Hill and Mitzie Phillips of Wallace, N.C.; and his stepmother, Josephine Pittman Terlinde.

A native of Bridgeton, N.J., Mrs. Wass was a daughter of the late Raymond Harvey Cherry and Edna Woodruff Cherry. She graduated from Westfield High School and attended Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pa. She worked for CBS in New York City, where she was a secretary for Walter Cronkite. She was the widow of Harold S. Wass Jr.
Surviving are her son, Allen S. Wass of Hudson, Ohio; her daughter, Susan H. Weathers of Charlotte; and two granddaughters.
