MOUNT PLEASANT - Mr. Walker McWatters, 79, of 1309 Kings Court died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Barron Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ron Dillon officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.
A native of Chester, Mr. McWatters was a son of the late William Archie McWatters and Mary McWatters. He was an electrician at the U.S. Naval Shipyard in Charleston. He attended First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Wix McWatters; his daughter, Emma McWatters Hofford of Severna Park, Md.; his brother, Archie McWaters of Rock Hill; four sisters, Willie Mae Bagley, Louise Hutchins, Adele Paul and Carolyn Stevenson, all of Chester; and his grandson.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

GAFFNEY - Mrs. Helen Gregory Osment, 60, of 181 Fowler Road died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Will Vergara officiating. Burial will be at Rosemont Cemetery.
A native of Union, Mrs. Osment was a daughter of the late Noah Gregory and Merle Ray Gregory. She was a member of Blue Branch Baptist Church and was formerly a nurses' aide at Oakmont Nursing Home in Union.
Surviving are her husband, David Osment; two daughters, Donna White of Spartanburg and Beth Candler of Union; three sisters, Jane G. Brock of York, Joyce G. Edmondson of Myrtle Beach and Decie G. Craig of Union; and three grandchildren.
The family will be at the home of her daughter, Beth Candler, 202 Munro St., Union.

RICHBURG - Ms. Deborah Sue Friday Rogers, 47, of 214 Main St. died Monday, April 23, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at West End Baptist Church, with the Revs. Richard Dillingham, Daniel Cooper, Carl Fisher and Michael Lowery officiating. Burial will be at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.
Born in Rock Hill, Ms. Rogers was a daughter of Billy Lester Friday and Frances Louise Frady Friday. She was employed by Chester County School District. She was a cheerleader coach of Lewisville High School, the treasurer of South Carolina Cheerleaders Association and a member of the South Carolina Coaches Association. She was a member of Garden Sanctuary.
Surviving in addition to her parents are two sons, William Bradford Rogers and James Kelly Rogers, both of Richburg; two daughters, Mary Katherine Rogers and Kelly Elizabeth Rogers, both of Richburg; her brother, Billy Lester Friday Jr. of Rock Hill; two sisters, Carolyn Tennant and Marcy Odum, both of Rock Hill; and two grandsons.

YOUNGSTOWN, Fla. - Ms. Josie Lucille Smith, 60, formerly of Rock Hill, of 3913 Jenkins Road died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Fla.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Devinney officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.
A native of Rock Hill, Ms. Smith was a daughter of Lewis D. Smith and the late Sallie Robinson Smith. She was manager of Alvin's Magic Mountain in Panama City Beach, Fla. She was a member of Gulf Beach Baptist Church and was a former member of Eastside Baptist Church in Rock Hill. She was the widow of John P. Bullard.
Surviving in addition to her father are two daughters, Cathy Grainger and Rhonda Fitzpatrick, both of Rock Hill; her brother, David Smith of Wewahitchka, Fla.; four grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

HEATH SPRINGS - Mr. Pascal A. VanLandingham, 77, of 4569 Stoneboro Road died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral was Monday, April 23, 2001, at Beaver Creek Baptist Church, with the Revs. Mike Hammond, Paul Smith and Steve Neal officiating. Burial was at Beaver Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
A native of Heath Springs, Mr. VanLandingham was a son of the late William Pascal and Eulalia Bowers VanLandingham. He retired from Springs Industries. He was a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.
Surviving are his wife, Madylene Baker VanLandingham; his son, Michael B. VanLandingham of Charleston; his daughter, Andee Steen of Heath Springs; five grandsons; and his great-granddaughter.

HEATH SPRINGS - Mr. Ira Vick, 87, of 4497 Rob Neal Road died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lancaster Memorial Park, with the Revs. Koger Hunter and Steve Neal officiating.
A native of Lancaster, Mr. Vick was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Springs Industries, with 50 years of service. He was the widower of Myrtle McManus Vick.
Surviving are three stepsons, Charles Robinson of Merritt Island, Fla., David Robinson of Myrtle Beach and Gerald Robinson of Heath Springs; two stepdaughters, Sybil Reeves of Heath Springs and Joanne Smith of Hartsville; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

LANCASTER - Mr. Jewel Arvin Barnett, 81, of 1032 Hampton-Grace Ave. died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Heath Springs Residential Care Center.

A native of Cullman County, Ala., Mr. Barnett was a son of the late Lawrence Albert Barnett and Josie Brown Barnett. He was retired from Springs Industries.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Haney Barnett; two sons, Kenneth Barnett and Larry Barnett, both of Georgia; his daughter, Sonja Lynn Bell of Lancaster; his stepson, Thomas Duane Wood of Myrtle Beach; and six grandchildren.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Lenwood David Collins, 72, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Faith Assembly of God, with the Rev. Marv Horst officiating. Burial will be private.
A native of Florence, Mr. Collins was a son of the late Barney Collins and Rebecca Ann Filyaw Collins. He was a member of Faith Assembly of God. He was a retired security guard at Catawba Trucking and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys R. Collins; three sons, Randolph A. Collins of Columbia, Richard D. Collins of Columbus, Ga., and Michael W. Collins of Rock Hill; two daughters, Ana C. Glosson of Rock Hill and Chris Haynes of Albuquerque, N.M.; three sisters, Eunice Bryant of Manning and Eleanor Gray and Evelyn Collins, both of Waycross, Ga.; and 10 grandchildren.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Mr. David McAllister Glenn Jr., 79, formerly of Clover, died Saturday, April 21, 2001.
The funeral was Tuesday at Bethel Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. John Gess officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.
A native of Clover, Mr. Glenn was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David McAllister Glenn Sr. His family had farmed on the same land for five generations. He graduated from Clover High School in 1939. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the 2nd Division. He served in Europe during World War II and participated in the invasion of Normandy. He attended Clemson University and received a degree in textile engineering from Belmont Textile School in Belmont, N.C. He worked for Hoechst Celanese in Rock Hill, with 20 years of service. He served as deacon at Bethel Presbyterian Church. He was active in the men's Bible study. He attended Memorial Presbyterian Church in St. Augustine.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Johnson Glenn; two daughters, Judy Jackson of St. Augustine and Kay Clinton of Houston; two sisters, Nancy Wallace of the Bethel community in Clover and Jean Clemmer of Gastonia, N.C.; three brothers, James A. Glenn and Thomas E. Glenn, both of the Bethel community, and Joe C. Glenn of Gastonia; and six grandchildren.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Jeanes was a son of Essie Yongue Yarborough of Richburg and the late Rev. David Guyton Jeanes Sr. He was a former truck driver and was a member of Heath Memorial United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Surviving in addition to his mother are three daughters, Christina J. Michau of Chester, Dixie J. Threatt of Richburg and Tracey J. Deal of Chester; his sister, Carolyn J. Keasler of Fort Mill; his stepfather, Jack C. Yarborough of Richburg; two stepbrothers, Randy Yarborough and Ronnie Corder Sr., both of Chester; two stepsisters, Patricia Adams of Richburg and Roxann James of Rock Hill; and six grandchildren.

YORK - Mrs. Agnes Collins June, 76, of 25 Pinckney St. died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at home.
A native of York, Mrs. June was a retired spinner at Pharr Yarns, Clover Division, with 10 years of service. She was a member of New Home AME Zion Church and the New Home Church Aid Society.
Surviving are five sons, David L. Collins of the home, Arthur Lewis June of McConnells, Willie James June of Gastonia, N.C., Nathaniel Edward June of Rock Hill and Charles Henry June of Bessemer City, N.C.; four daughters, Rebecca J. Brown of Edgemoor, Lillie McConnell and Rosenna June Boger, both of Rock Hill, and Dianne June Johnson of Gastonia; three brothers, Woodrow Collins, John Frank Collins and Kay Collins, all of York; her goddaughter and caregiver, Dorothy Mae Chalk of the home; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Mrs. Mattie Sanders Wiggins of 521 Randolph Road, formerly of Chester, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Sanders officiating and the Revs. Curtis Washington and Terrance Grooms assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Chester, Mrs. Wiggins was a daughter of Lena Thompson Sanders of Chester and the late Floyd Tudy Sanders. She attended the public schools of Chester County and worked for the S.C. Department of Transportation. She also worked for the Department of Transportation in Virginia. She joined Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church in Chester at an early age.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her daughter, Telatha Thomas of Hampton, Va.; two sons, Walter F. Allen of the home and Walter Mabry of Newport News; her sister, Frances Carter of Chester; her brother, Orlando Sanders of Chester; and her friend, Walter F. Allen of Newport News.

A native of Charleston, Mrs. Koester was a daughter of the late William Edward Craven and Mary Thumbeleston Koester. She was a librarian and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in North Charleston. She was the widow of Frank W. Koester.
Surviving is her daughter, Mary K. Rushing of Clover.
The family will receive friends after the service.
