SILVER SPRING, Md. - Mr. Gaylord G. Mitchell of 12823 Broadmore Road, formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Montgomery Hospital. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fort Lincoln Funeral Home Chapel, Brentwood, Md.
Surviving are three brothers, Freddie Gist and Jessie Gist Jr., both of Rock Hill, and Alvin Gist of Columbia; and two sisters, Deloise Adams and Elaine Gist, both of Rock Hill.

Rena Patterson
ARCHDALE, N.C. - Mrs. Rena Crutchfield Patterson, 85, of Westwood Health & Rehabilitation Center died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at the center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sechrest Chapel in High Point, N.C., with Dr. Fred Senter officiating. Burial will be at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
Born in Sanford, N.C., Mrs. Patterson was a daughter of the late Thomas J. Crutchfield and Alice Medlin Crutchfield. She was the widow of George Everett Patterson. She was a 1937 graduate of Guilford General Hospital. She was a retired private duty nurse and a former member of the Private Duty Nurses Club. She was a member of English Road Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday school class.
Surviving are her son, Dr. Tom Patterson of Rock Hill; two daughters, Ann Cannon of High Point and Nancy Myers of Trinity, N.C.; seven grandchildren; seven great - grandchildren; and one step great - grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Mable Perry
FORT MILL - Mrs. Mable Ruth Holder Perry, 75, of 152 Ed Thompson Road died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, in Gastonia, N.C.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carolina's Cornerstone Church, with Dr. George Dye officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.
Mrs. Perry was the widow of John Elliot Perry.
A native of Juliette, Ga., Mrs. Perry was retired from Celanese Acetate Corp., was a member of the ladies auxiliary VFW Post No. 9138, was a former secretary for the Fort Mill Band Booster Club and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her daughter, Brenda Denton of Fort Mill; two sons, Michael Perry of Fort Mill and Larry Perry of Gastonia; her sister, Jeanette West of Fort Mill; 10 grandchildren; 17 great - grandchildren; and her great - great grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Fort Mill Funeral Home and other times at the home of Brenda Denton, 227 Pine St.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Pearly Ayers Strickland, 93, of 2433 Greenwood Road died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greene Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel, with the Rev. William Forsythe officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Strickland was a daughter of the late Earlie Brown and Annie Ayers Brown. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - day Saints, Catawba ward.
Surviving are three sons, Jeff Harris, Morgan Harris and Pat Loughney, all of Rock Hill; three daughters, Charlotte A. Branham of the home, Lottie Pruitt of Fingerville and Nola Campbell of Rock Hill; two sisters, Evelyn B. George of Rock Hill and Lizzie J. Burns of New Mexico; 35 grandchildren; 75 great - grandchildren; and 99 great - great - grandchildren.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Marjorie L. Bower, 75, of 1137 Mary Dale Lane died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Patricia Griffith - Fallaw officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Repose Cemetery in Haverstraw, N.Y.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Bower was a daughter of the late Charles G. Lusher and Isabella S. Goodfellow Lusher. She was a homemaker and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She worked with the Girl Scouts, 4 - H Clubs and Cooperative Extension Service.
Surviving are her husband, William J. Bower; her son, Wayne C. Bower of Rock Hill; two daughters, Christine L. Rickert of Waterford, Va., and Susan L. Bushinski of Virginia Beach, Va.; her sister, Vera Keller of Walkill, N.Y.; and 10 grandchildren.

CHESTER - Mr. Nathaniel "Nay" Culp Jr. of 104 Peace St. died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at 118 Ashford St.
The funeral will be 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Friendship Baptist of Columbia Street in Chester, with Pastor W. E. Page officiating. Burial will be at Friendship Baptist Church cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Mr. Culp was the son of Dorothy Culp Dunovant and John Dunovant. He graduated from Chester Senior High School where he was a basketball and baseball player. He was a member of the Chester National Guard Reserve.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his son, Anthony Culp of Chester; his daughter, Lakerdia Worthy of Chester; seven brothers, William Culp, John Culp, James Young, Johnny Young, Lamont Dunovant, Carlos Dunovant and Curtis Waters, all of Chester; his sister, Shonnta Lewis of Chester; and his grandparents, Joe Harrison Culp and Reba Dunovant, both of Chester.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Will Davis, 74, of 1151 Pecan Circle died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at home.
A graveside service with Masonic rites will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Philadelphia United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Revs. Micky Smith and Scotty Gibson officiating.
A native of Edgefield, Mr. Davis retired from Springs Industries and Worthington Steel. He was a Mason for 40 years and was a member of Catawba Lodge No. 56. He was a member of York County Crescent Shrine Club. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 43.
Surviving are two sons, Billy Ray Davis and Harold Davis, both of Fort Mill; his daughter, Pauline Oates of Fort Mill; four brothers, Pink T. Davis, Erskine Davis, Teat Davis and Rufus Davis, all of Augusta, Ga.; and five grandchildren.

CHESTER - Mr. Lonzo Gregory of 2780 Cassels Road died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at Chester County Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church in the Wilksburg community, with Pastor Curtis Washington officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Mr. Gregory was a son of the late James Gregory and Hattie Sanders Gregory. He was a member of Sandy River Baptist Church and attended Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church. He was a member of the A.P.&B Society. He was a retired construction worker at Springs Industries.
Surviving are his wife, Dollie Cornwell Gregory; four sisters, Rachel Robbins and Maggie Land, both of Chester County Nursing Center, Louise Cureton of New York and Easter Laws of Charlotte; two nephews that he raised, Sundra T. Sanders of Ridgeville and Clarence D. Sanders of Chester; two nieces that he raised, Dorothy Lee Johnson of Baltimore and Carlotte Sanders of Chester; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Wednesday at Chris King Memorial Chapel and at home.
The body will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. Wednesday until the service.

FORT MILL - Mrs. Mary Ellen Parker Jackson, 80, of 14 Rea Circle died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at home.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Draytonville Baptist Church cemetery in Gaffney, with the Revs. Jim Parrish and Matthew Hanke officiating.
Mrs. Jackson was the widow of Henry Jackson. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church. She retired from Gold Tex Cloth Manufacturing Co.
Surviving are her son, Robby Clary of Gaffney; her daughter, Sybil Broome of Fort Mill; four grandchildren; and eight great - grandchildren.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Ray Mason of 1037 Glenarden Drive died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A native of York County, Mr. Mason was a son of the late James Mason and Cammie Mobley Mason. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He graduated from Emmett Scott High School.
Surviving are four daughters, DeQueta Young, Pamela Williams and Camela Williams, all of Rock Hill, and Vernia Adams of Charlotte; two stepdaughters, Connie Roseboro and Karen Roseboro, both of Rock Hill; two sisters, Ernestine Gordon of Rock Hill and Phyllis Jackson of Sedalia, N.C.; and six grandchildren.
Violet McMahon
MANTEO, N.C. - Mrs. Violet Padgett McMahon, 84, of 161 Etheridge Road died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at home.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Roanoke Island Memorial Gardens in Manteo, with the Rev. Spottswood Graves officiating.
Mrs. McMahon was a daughter of the late Alfred Roland and Bessie Price Padgett. She was the widow of John B. McMahon Sr. She was a homemaker and an avid angler.
Surviving are four sons, James McMahon of the home, Thomas McMahon of Manteo, Robert D. McMahon of Bells Island and John B. McMahon II of Elizabeth City, N.C.; two sisters, Madelyn Strawn of Charlotte and Daisy Burrus of Rock Hill; and three grandchildren.

GREER - Mr. Oma Colton Morrow Jr., 74, of 8326 Reidville Road died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wood Mortuary, with the Revs. Herbert Stephens officiating. Burial will be at Crest Memorial Gardens.
A native of Spartanburg County, Mr. Morrow was a son of the late Oma Colton and Onie Collins Morrow. He was the widower of Margaret J. Morrow.
He retired from Lyman Printing and Finishing and was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Larry Morrow of Rock Hill and Steve Morrow of Landrum; his sister, Nan M. Reese of Boulder, Colo.; and his grandson.
