LANCASTER - Mrs. Mary Springs Threatt, 73, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
A memorial will be 2 p.m. today at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rex Faile officiating.
A native of Lake City, Mrs. Threatt was a daughter of the late Fred Springs and Leeida Gainey Springs. She was the widow of James Threatt. She retired from Springs Industries.
Surviving are his son, Johnny E. Hinson of Kershaw; his daughter, Mary Jones of Lancaster; two brothers, J.R. Springs of Sumter and Fred Springs Jr. of Lancaster; three sisters, Jessie McDonald of Lafayette, La., Mildred Powell of Lancaster and Annett Mahaffey of Pageland; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

LANCASTER - Mr. Tony Lamar Outen, 40, of 1094 W. Shore Drive died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Cecil Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Outen was a son of Bobby Baxter Outen and Ola Mae Deason Outen. He was a group superintendent for Leitner Construction Co. in Rock Hill. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his brother, Jerome Outen of Lancaster; and his sister, Gail Shrader of Lancaster.

Thelma Snipes
LANCASTER - Mrs. Thelma Eubanks Snipes, 76, of 329 City Ave. died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Plyler officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
A native of Chesterfield County, Mrs. Snipes was a daughter of the late Leonard Eubanks and Martha Knight Eubanks. She was retired from the preparation department of Springs Industries Lancaster Plant. Mrs. Snipes was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Julius Snipes; two sons, Jessie Snipes of Columbia and Randy Snipes of Lancaster; her sister, Clarene Snipes of Lancaster; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

William Threatt
ROCK HILL - Mr. William Earl "Bill" Threatt, 56, of 718 Hillcroft Place died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel, with the Revs. George Dye and Jan Senneker officiating. Burial will be at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.
A native of Lancaster, Mr. Threatt was a son of the late John Amos Threatt and Bernice Adams Threatt. He was a truck driver for Frito-Lay. He was a member of Corinthian Masonic Lodge No. 416 and First Baptist Church in Fort Mill. He served in the Army First Infantry Division during the Vietnam War where he received the Bronze Star. He served in the Air National Guard.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy Legg Threatt; his son, Matthew Scott Threatt of Fort Mill; three daughters, Pamela Frances Threatt of Arcata, Calif., Susan Elizabeth Threatt of Fort Mill and Amanda Brooke Threatt of Rock Hill; his brother, John Amos Threatt Jr. of Pageland; four sisters, Arlene Rollins of Lancaster and Joyce Airington, Linda Smith and Martha Gardner, all of Fort Lawn.

Bessie Hudson
CHERRYVILLE, N.C. - Mrs. Bessie Mull Hudson, 97, of 201 C St. died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Carpenter's Funeral Home, Cone Memorial Chapel, with the Revs. Keith Love and Phil Deon officiating. Burial will be at City Memorial Cemetery in Cherryville, N.C.
A native of York County, Mrs. Hudson was the widow of W.E. Mull and Frank Hudson. She retired from Nu-Way Manufacturing Co. in Cherryville. She was a spinner.
Surviving are nine grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Anna Wislous
TEGA CAY - Mrs. Anna Marie Zizwarek Wislous, 83, of Tega Cay died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000 at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, N.J. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Linden, N.J.
A native of Elizabeth, N.J., Mrs. Wislous was a daughter of the late Joseph Zizwarek and Elizabeth Krause Zizwarek. She was the widow of Joseph Wislous. A homemaker who lived in Elizabeth, she moved to South Carolina in 1984.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Grimshaw of Tega Cay and Elizabeth Colavito of Old Bridge, N.J.; two sisters, Elsie Nebenfuhr of Palm Bay, Fla., and Theresa Brokaw of Cranford, N.J.; her stepbrother, Martin Danco; four grandchildren; and her great-grandson.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Rezem Funeral Home.

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Daisy Woods Benton, 56, formerly of Chester, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Baptist Church in Charlotte, with Pastor Moss officiating. Burial will be at Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens.
A native of Mecklenburg County, Mrs. Benton was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church where she was an associate minister. She was a member of the missionary circle and was a Sunday school teacher. She was a retired registered nurse at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Surviving are her husband, John Benton of Charlotte; two sons, Charles Lovett and Antonio Lovett, both of Charlotte; her daughter, Sharon Lovett of Charlotte; five brothers, David Woods, Robert Woods and Tony Woods, all of Charlotte, and Paul Woods and Jerry Woods, both of Los Angeles; six sisters, Bertha Anderson, Joyce W. Hooker, Cathy Sloan, Doretta Miller and Derda Kelley, all of Charlotte, and Carolyn Woods of Los Angeles; and three grandchildren.

COCOA BEACH, Fla. - Mrs. Noreen "Nora" Johanesen Clarner, 78, formerly of Rock Hill, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at home.
A memorial liturgy will be noon today at The Oratory in Rock Hill. Burial will follow at The Oratory.
Surviving are her son, Walter Clarner of Cocoa Beach; her daughter, Gina Clarner Misle and son-in-law, Ralph Misle of Rock Hill, with whom she had lived; two brothers and two sisters, all of Florida; and her granddaughter.

LANCASTER - Mrs. Ida B. Deese Gainer, 79, of 4599 J. B. Denton Road died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Gainer was a daughter of the late Hoyt Deese and Martha Mahaffey Deese. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was a retired seamstress at Skyline Ltd. She was the widow of Floyd Daniel Gainer.
Surviving are her son, Glenn Gainer of Lancaster; her daughter, Linda Nicholson of Ruby; her half-brother, Clarence James Bowers of Lancaster; her sister, Betty Spivey of Angier, N.C.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

GASTONIA, N.C. - Mrs. Ruth Seigle Hester, 86, of 326 Queens Court died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

A native of King County, Wash., Mrs. Hester was a daughter of Henry Seigle and Otta Jones Seigle. She was the widow of Charles G. Hester.
Surviving are her son, Charles "Bucky" Hester; her daughter, Janice H. O'Neal of Gastonia; four brothers, Cecil Seigle, Carl Seigle, John Seigle and Earl Seigle; three sisters, Ruby German of Lenior, N.C., Addie Seigle and Bobbie Seigle, both of Lawrenceville, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Reba Curry Kyger, 76, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at Harris Hospice Center at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Grottoes Church of Christ, with the Rev. Roger Hart officiating. Burial will be at Port Republic Mutual Cemetery, Port Republic, Va.
A native of Beiry Branch, Va., Mrs. Kyger was a daughter of the late Phillip Curry and Clare Bell Knicley Curry. She was retired from Genesco Inc. She was a member of Church of Christ in Grottoes, Va.
Surviving are her daughter, Shirlene Howard of Charlotte; her sister, Mary Cassidy of Kissimmee, Fla.; her grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

CHESTER - Kenneth G. Mingo Jr., infant son of Kenneth G. Mingo Sr. of Lancaster and Kerri McCrorey of Chester, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at Chester Co. Hospital.
A graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Old Wilson Baptist Church Cemetery.
Surviving are two brothers, La Trazes McCrorey of Chester and Klayshad Mingo of Lancaster; two sisters, Jada McCrorey of Chester and Keon Mingo of Lancaster; his maternal grandmother, Rosa Lee McCrorey of Chester; his maternal grandfather, Charles Crockett of Richburg; his paternal grandmother, Barbara Hinson of Lancaster; and his maternal great-grandmother, Clara Brown of Chester.

Ronald Preston
ROCK HILL - Mr. Ronald Dean Preston Sr., 67, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A private memorial service was held Friday.
A native of Canton, Ohio, Mr. Preston was a son of the late Harlan Preston and Jessie Merrell Preston. He worked in the heating and air conditioning business, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Harley's Owners Group.
Surviving are his son, Ronald D. Preston Jr. of York; his sister, Norma Shelton of Canton, Ohio; and one grandson.

John Shillinglaw
ELKIN, N.C. - Mr. John E. Shillinglaw, 70, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at New Silverbrook Cemetery in Anderson, with the Revs. William Brown, David J. Bailey and Dale Walker officiating.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Shillinglaw was a son of the late John H. Shillinglaw and Mary E. Craig Shillinglaw. He was the widower of Joan Speer Shillinglaw.
He retired from Duke Power Co. and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Anderson. He attended Elkin Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sons, John C. Shillinglaw of North Charleston and Robert H. Shillinglaw of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Carrie Hall Shillinglaw, Martha E. Shillinglaw and Mildred S. Roddey, all of Rock Hill.
