Josephine Head
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Josephine H. Head, 69, of 1130 Neely Store Road died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at Mercy Hospital South.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oakdale Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Devinney officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Head was a daughter of the late Clayton Hammond and Ester Eagin Hammond. She was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Aaron Head; two sons, William Aaron Head of Van Wyck and Frank "Pete" Head of Rock Hill; four daughters, Phyllis Lewis of Chester, Linda Gay of Gaffney, Nancy King of Clover and Teresa Dellinger of Rock Hill; her brother, Paul Hammond of Fort Mill; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 16 step-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel and other times at home.

John Munchick
ROCK HILL - Mr. John Robert Munchick, 60, of 1935 Bristol Parkway died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Burial will be at Powhatan Cemetery in Powhatan Point, Ohio.
A native of Shadyside, Ohio, Mr. Munchick was a son of Anna Hanasky Munchick of Shadyside, Ohio and the late John Munchick. He graduated from Ohio University and was a former teacher and retired salesman. He was a sales associate at Home Depot in Rock Hill.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his son, Brett Munchick of Columbus, Ohio; and his brother, Jim Munchick of Medina, Ohio.

Lela Rowe
CLINTON - Mrs. Lela C. Rowe, 90, of 18 Tallwood Homes died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at National Health Care of Laurens.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Gray Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
A native of Walhalla, Mrs. Rowe was a daughter of the late Will Ervin and Lillie Ester Burdette Chasteen. She retired from Greenwood Mills, Blalock Plant. She was a member of Church of God in Laurens.
Surviving are two sons, Fred William Rowe of Rock Hill and Charles Douglas Rowe of Fort Mill; four daughters, Dorothy Davis of Laurens, Mary Pearson of Camano Island, Wash., Georgia Faye Bishop of Joanna and Betty Riddley of Greenville; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Dorothy Davis, 202 Derring St., Laurens.
James Pixler Jr.
CLOVER - Mr. James A. Pixler Jr., 76, of 1187 Bowling Green Drive died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 7 p.m. today at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, with the Revs. Benny Helms and Tommy Oliver officiating. Burial will be Sunday at Washington Cemetery in Portland, Wis.
A native of Jamesville, Wis., Mr. Pixler was a son of the late James A. Pixler Sr. and Pearl Pixler. He was the widower of Blanche M. Pixler and Dorothy Mae Pixler. He was a World War II and Korean War veteran.
Surviving are four sons, James Pixler of Wisconsin, Lee Pixler of Marshall, Wis., Curt Pixler of Arkansas and Dale Riddle of Sun Prairie, Wis.; six daughters, Marsha Pixler and Patricia Crowley, both of Ruby, Mari-Jo Riege and Sharon Fassbender, both of Waterloo, Wis., Wanda Brady of McChesney Park, Ill., and Tori Pixler of Marshall, Wis.; his brother, John Pixler of Prairie Du Chien, Wis.; three sisters, Eudora Mahoney of Madison, Wis., Pearl Starker of Sun Prairie and Mabel Pixler of Madison; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends following the service.

George Small
CAMDEN - Mr. George Benjamin Small, 69, of 2148 Mallard Road died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at Kershaw County Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel, with the Revs. Terry Greene, Donald Coppedge and Fred Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Midway Baptist Church cemetery.
A native of Kershaw, Mr. Small was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin Small and Frances Byrd Small. He was a member of Northgate Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and teacher in the Men's Bible Class. He was president of the Wateree Home Owners Association and was a retired pilot with United Air Lines. He was an Air Force veteran.
Surviving are his wife, June Streseman Small; his son, Steven Michael Small of Fremont, Calif.; five brothers, Robert Small of Florence, Grady Small of Indianapolis, Jackie Small of Jefferson, Joe C. Small of Fremont and Charles M. Small of Newport News, Va.; and five grandchildren.

John Anderson
YORK - Mr. John R. Anderson, 82, of 2533 Highway 161 died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at Beverly Health Care.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Filbert Presbyterian Church in America, with the Rev. Wallace Tinsley officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
A native of Wilkesboro, N.C., Mr. Anderson was a son of the late G. Harold Anderson and Sally Anderson. He worked in management at Crest Stores Co. He was a member of Filbert Presbyterian Church In America, where he was a deacon and elder and was a member of the men's bible class.
Surviving is his wife, Kathryn Stowe Anderson of York.

Nancy Barnette
RICHBURG - Mrs. Nancy Jean Hargreaves Barnette, 38, of Richburg died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at home.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cathedral of the Cross Church, 13925 Irwin Road in Charlotte, with the Revs. Curtis Cameron and Richard Hamm officiating.
A native of West Islip, N.Y., Mrs. Barnette was a daughter of Peggy Knause Bassett and the late Chester Hargreaves. She graduated from Olympic High School in Charlotte. She worked for Allegiance Brokerage Co. of Charlotte. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Richburg.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Clyde Barnette; two sons, Aaron Barnette and Alec Barnette, both of the home; her brother, Tim Hargreaves of Concord, N.H.; and two sisters, Betsy Allbee of Blacksburg, Va., and Pamela Sherer of Rock Hill.

BALTIMORE - Mrs. Mary White Chambers, 92, of 2825 E. Federal St., formerly of Blackstock, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000.
The funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Southern Baptist Church in Baltimore, with Pastor Higgs officiating. Burial will be at Arbeautus Cemetery.
A native of Chester, Mrs. Chambers was a daughter of the late Will Chambers and Mary Chambers. She was the widow of the Rev. William White. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Blackstock and attended Southern Baptist Church. She was a retired domestic worker.

Crawford Howell
ROCK HILL - Mr. Crawford Ashley Howell, 73, of 1886 Holland Road died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Adnah United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michael S. Leonhardt and Dr. Jerry K. Sosebee officiating. Burial will be at Adnah United Methodist Church cemetery.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Howell was a son of the late Fred C. Howell and Rose Ashley Howell. He retired as fire chief from the city of Rock Hill and was instrumental in starting the South Carolina Fire Academy. He was a charter member of the Rock Hill Rescue Squad and was a U.S. Marine veteran. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Katie West Howell; two sons, Rick A. Howell of Chapin and Chuck L. Howell of Rock Hill; two daughters, Karen H. Morton and Candee H. Brakefield, both of Rock Hill; two brothers, Fred L. "Dick" Howell of Rock Hill and Len Howell of Bullocks Creek; his sister, Joyce Pendleton of Rock Hill; and nine grandchildren.

CHESTER - Mr. Thomas Charlie McNinch, 76, of 1917 New Hope Church Road died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Barron Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Chris Snelgrove officiating. Burial will be at New Hope United Methodist Church cemetery.
A native of Chester, Mr. McNinch was a son of the late William Charlie McNinch and Louise Lipford McNinch. He retired from Capco Paving in Rock Hill and attended schools of Chester County. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Idell Faile McNinch; his son, Charles P. Ferguson of Montgomery, Ala.; his daughter, Elaine F. Furr of Rock Hill; two brothers, Ralph McNinch of Chester and Roy McNinch of Charlotte; two sisters, Ruth Wrenn and Jean Richardson, both of Rock Hill; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

William Rawls
COLUMBIA - Mr. William Martin "Bill" Rawls, 71, formerly of Rock Hill, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000.
A memorial Mass will be 4 p.m. Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church in Rock Hill. The Rosary will be recited at 6:45 tonight.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Rawls was a son of the late Tadeus Frontis and Ethel Whitsel Rawls. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired from Westinghouse, Charlotte Turbine Plant. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 6 and a volunteer at the VA Hospital. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Society and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel Vidrine Rawls; three sons, William Martin "Marty" Rawls Jr. and Paul B. Rawls Sr., both of Rock Hill, and John P. Rawls of Sacramento, Calif.; his brother, Tadeus F. "Sonny" Rawls of Charles-ton; three sisters, Frances Romain of Rock Hill, Doris Lewis of Rock Hill and Nancy Cannon of Cambridge, Md.; and five grandchildren.

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Floyd Thomas Jr. of 1723 West Blvd. died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at home.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Thomas was a son of Carrie Carter Thomas and Floyd Thomas Sr. He attended the public schools of New York. He worked for B.F.I. Waste System in Charlotte in the maintenance department.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his daughter, Candance Michelle Thomas of Charlotte; three sisters, Gloria Satterwhite and Joyce Thomas, both of Chester, and Nettie Thomas of Lancaster; and his brother, Floyd Thomas of Lancaster.
The family will receive friends at the home of his mother, Carrie Carter Thomas, 214 Peyton St., Chester. There will be no viewing at the funeral home.
