Pearl Stringfellow
PITTSBURGH - Mrs. Pearl Chisholm Stringfellow died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at Universal Presbyter-ian Hospital.
The funeral was Friday at Mount Hopewell Baptist Church in Rodman.
A native of Chester County, Mrs. Stringfellow was a daughter of the late Will Chisholm and Purlar Shelton Chisholm.
Surviving are four brothers, Nathaniel Chisholm, Elliott Chisholm, Alfonzy Chisholm and John Charles Chisholm, all of Portsmouth, Va.; and five sisters, Annie Mae Young, Ella Caldwell and Teresa Caldwell, all of Rock Hill, and Mildred Moffatte and Ada Young, both of Portsmouth, Va.
The family will receive friends at the home of her sisters, 352 Arnold St. and 602 Clarinda St., Rock Hill.

Noreen Clarner
COCOA BEACH, Fla. - Mrs. Noreen "Nora" Johanesen Clarner, 78, of Cocoa Beach, formerly of Rock Hill, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at home.
A memorial Liturgy will be noon Aug. 12 at The Oratory in Rock Hill. Burial will follow at The Oratory.
Surviving are her son, Walter Clarner of Cocoa Beach; her daughter, Gina Clarner Misle of Rock Hill; two brothers and two sisters, all of
Florida; and a granddaughter.

William Hines
LANCASTER - Mr. William Edward "Bill" Hines, 75, of 3530 Cimmeron Road died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Lybrand officiating. Burial will be at Florence National Cemetery in Florence at 3 p.m.
A native of Goldsboro, N.C., Mr. Hines was a son of the late Wade Hines and Ella Mattie Johnson Hines. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant and was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Nguyen Thi an Hines, of the home; his son Nguyen Van Thanh Hines of Charleston, W.Va.; two daughters, Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy Hines of Bridgeport, W.Va. and Nguyen Thi Ly Tram Hines of Charlotte; and one grandson.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster.
Coleman Tolbert
KERSHAW - Mr. Coleman "Frank" Tolbert, 69, of 4393 Ernest Scott Road died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at home.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church, with the Revs. Steve Anglin and Howard Suttles officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Born in Kershaw, Mr. Tolbert was a son of the late Oscar Reed Tolbert and Nealie Catoe Tolbert. He was a member of the Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church and the adult men's Sunday school class. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a mason and a member of Abney Masonic Lodge No. 211.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby Jacobs Tolbert; his daughter, Darlene Beckham of Kershaw; two sisters, Blanche T. Ray of Kershaw and Annie Ollie T. Beavers of Joppa, Md.; and three grandchildren.

Barney Wallace
FORT MILL - Mr. Barney Lee Wallace, 81, of Fort Mill died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at Mercy Hospital - South in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at McEwen Funeral Service Chapel, 727 E. Morehead St. in Charlotte. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
A native of Charlotte, Mr. Wallace was a son of the late Columbus Harrison Wallace and Sarah Ethel Lawing Wallace. A U.S. Army WWII veteran, he was a lifelong member of both the Paw Creek American Legion Post 353 and D.A.V. Chapter 32 and was accepted into the Pack Rats of the D.A.V.
Mr. Wallace was a former member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church and attended Paw Creek High School. A truck driver for most of his life, he also worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Mecklenburg County, N.C. , and at a marina in Miami where he retired as a disabled veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Gulledge Wallace; his son Jerry Wallace; five brothers, Baxter Wallace, Russell Wallace and Elwood Wallace, all of Charlotte, Dennis Wallace of Monroe, N.C., and Donald Wallace of Prattville, Ala.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Hazel Williams
YORK - Mrs. Hazel Bowling Williams, 74, of York died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A native of Charlotte, Mrs. Williams was a daughter of the late Mack Bowling and Nora Pallas Parker Bowling.
Surviving are her husband, James Williams Sr.; three sons, Richard Williams, James Williams Jr. and Gordan Williams; two daughters, Brenda Lineberger and Shirley Harris; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Floyd Thomas Jr. of 1723 West Blvd. died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at home.

LANCASTER - Mrs. Lillian Louise Catoe Deese, 76, of Lancaster died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mahaffey Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Thurman Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Antioch Baptist Church cemetery.
A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Deese was a daughter of the late Haskell Catoe and Esther Stogner Catoe. She was the widow of Walter Deese.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Sarah Funderburk, Brenda Hilley, Linda Sims and Deborah Hatcher, all of Lancaster; four sons, Donald A. Deese, Jerry L. Deese and Michael W. Deese, all of Lancaster, and Harold R. Deese of Blythewood; three sisters, Faye Lucas and Eva Adams, both of Lancaster, and Catherine Inman of Martinsville, Va.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

LOWELL, N.C. - Mrs. Mary Craig Crooke, 72, of 310 E. First St. died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at The Presbyterian Church of Lowell, with the Rev. Tim Arnold officiating. Burial will be private.
A native of Gaston County, N.C., Mrs. Crooke was a daughter of the late Alfred C. Craig and Maryella Catherine Jarrett Craig. She was a charter member of The Presbyterian Church of Lowell and was retired from Dillard's department store.
Surviving are her son, Paul Crooke of Lowell; two daughters, Beth Crooke of Rock Hill and Susan Craig Crooke of Gastonia; her sister, Barbara C. Mills of Lowell; and her granddaughter.

YORK - Mrs. Margaret Virginia Greene Tritt, 79, of 426 Deer Meadow Road died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wolfe Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Mill, with Dr. Robert Hensley officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.
A native of Cliffside, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Fletcher Greene and Mae Susan Wesson Greene. A former resident of Fort Mill, Mrs. Tritt worked for Springs Industries and Lance and as a hostess of Wendy's and Hardees. She was a charter member of King James Baptist Church in York.
Surviving are her husband, Charles L. "Pop" Tritt of York; two sons, Charles V. Tritt of Augusta, Ga., and Chris Thomas of York; three daughters, Ann Hammond of Rock Hill, Joyce McCraven of South Windsor, Conn., and Brenda Hensley of York; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Lester Thomas King, 71, of 2963 Pump Station Road died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christian Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul Blake officiating. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Carolina Memorial Park in Concord, N.C.
A native of Waxhaw, N.C., Mr. King was a son of the late James H. King Sr. and Virginia McGuirt King. He was the widower of Lavinia King. He was a member of Christian Baptist Church and formerly worked for Kannapolis Construction Company. He was a retired carpenter and cabinet maker.
Surviving are his wife, Mamie King; five daughters, Sara Barker of Gastonia, N.C., Debera Deal of China Grove, N.C., Mary Weckesser of Rock Hill, Margaret Lynch of Fort Mill and Linda Bradley of Pace, Fla.; his stepmother, Francis King of Fort Mill; four brothers, Rufus King of Kannapolis, N.C., Claude King of High Point, N.C., and Jerry King and James "Heath" King, both of Rock Hill; two sisters, Irene McCarter of Colorado Springs,
Colo., and Helen Sherer of Rock Hill; two stepdaughters, Ann Napisa of Virginia and Pam Capps of Douglasville, Ga.; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

YORK - Mrs. Annie R. Dorsett, 79, of 201 Blackburn St. died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at home.

A native of York County, Mrs. Dorsett was a daughter of the late Sam Robinson and Maggie Norman Robinson. A homemaker, she was a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene in Rock Hill. She was the widow of Robert "Dee Dee" Dorsett.
Surviving are four sons, Robert Dorsett, Johnny Dorsett, Charles Dorsett and Phillip Dorsett, all of York; four daughters, Marian Ivey Burbach, Betty Allen, Diane Randall and Vera Wilson, all of York; two brothers, Glenn Robinson of York and Sam Junior Robinson of Clover; three sisters, Ida Porter of Rock Hill and Willie Neil and Mary West, both of York; 21 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

CHESTER - Mr. Nelson Douglas, 58, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

A native of Chester, Mr. Douglas was the son of Ida Douglas of Charlotte.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his sister, Ruby Douglas of Charlotte.

YORK - Mr. Ralph C. Perrine, 92, of 214 Herndon Ave. died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Hope Baptist Church, with the Rev. Wayne Smith officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
A native of
West Virginia, Mr. Perrine was a son of the late H.B. Perrine and Ella Hedlee Perrine. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, John T. Perrine of York, Ralph W. Perrine of Greenville and Stefan C. Perrine of Millum,
Colo.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
