ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lucille F. "Cindy" Kinghorn, 94, of Ebenezer Road died Monday, June 26, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service in Charlotte, with Dr. Tim McClendon officiating.
Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Charlotte.
A native of Pageland, Mrs. Kinghorn was a daughter of the late Cordel Funderburke and Laura Funderburke.
She was the widow of Charles Rutledge and Sylvestor Kinghorn.
She was retired from Mill Fabrics, where she was a manager.
She was an active member in the Order of Eastern Star, Catawba Chapter, where she often served as pianist.
She volunteered her musical talents to Westminster Towers and Sterling House, where she was a resident.
She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her sister, Naomi Cooper of Atlanta; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

CHESTER - Mr. Fred Mull, 81, of 2809 Dawson Drive died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Chester County Hospital.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. Oscar Burdette officiating.
Entombment will be at Grandview Memorial Park Mausoleum in Rock Hill.
A native of York, Mr. Mull was a son of the late Robert Douglas Mull and Lizzie Strickland Mull.
He was retired from Piedmont Natural Gas and attended York County schools. He was a member of the American Legion.
Surviving are his wife Virginia Burch Mull; his daughter, Linda M. Wilson of Rock Hill; his brother, John D. Mull of Catawba; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

John Roberts Sr.
NAPLES, Fla. - Mr. John F. Roberts Sr., 65, died Monday, June 26, 2000.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Roberts was a son of the late Lloyd Lee Roberts Sr. and Winnie Fred Strait Roberts.
He was a Marine veteran of World War II and was of the Presbyterian faith.
Surviving are his son, John F. Roberts Jr. of Rock Hill; three daughters, Judy Kimbrell of Naples, Linda "Bug" White of York and Debra Paggett of Rock Hill; two brothers, Lloyd Roberts of Charlotte and William W. Roberts of Naples; six grandchildren; and his great-granddaughter.

Dezzie Wright
LANCASTER - Mrs. Dezzie Plyler Wright, 70, of 707 Sumter St. died Monday, June 26, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Revs. Norman Dobson and Dr. Stuart Snow officiating.
Burial will be at Union Hill Baptist Church cemetery in Pageland.
A native of Pageland, Mrs. Wright was a daughter of the late John Phillip Plyler and Mary Kathryn Starnes Plyler.
She attended the High Point Freewill Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
She was a member of Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
Surviving are her daughter, Brenda Helms of Lancaster; her brother, John Franklin Plyler of Lancaster; her sister, Frances Laney of Lancaster; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Catherine Ainsworth
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Catherine Harris Ainsworth, 89, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at home.
A memorial service was June 9 at Galloway Memorial Episcopal Church in Elkin, N.C., after a graveside service at Hollywood Cemetery.
A native of Elkin, N.C., Mrs. Ainsworth was a daughter of the late Edwin Ephraim Harris and Catherine Alexander Harris.
She was the widow of Walter Ainsworth. A professor emeritus of English and folklore, Mrs. Ainsworth received a bachelor's degree from the University of
North Carolina at Greensboro and a master's degree from the University of
Michigan.
She finished pre-doctoral work at State University of
New York at Buffalo.
Mrs. Ainsworth taught at Niagara County Community College of the State University of
New York, at the State University of
New York at Buffalo, at Millard Fillmore College of the State University of
New York at Buffalo, and in the high schools of
North Carolina,
Florida, and
Michigan.
At the college level, she developed and taught courses on English Literature, American Folklore, Mythology, William Wordsworth, William Faulkner, Man at War and Death in the Arts.
In 1976, she established Clyde Press and published books devoted to American folklore including, "Jump Rope Verses Around the United States," "Folktales of America," and "Superstitions."
Surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth Eller Swanson of Mountain City, Tenn., and Clyde Harris Eller of Buffalo,
N.Y., and Rock Hill; her brother, Edwin Freeland Harris of Elkin, N.C.; two grandsons; and her great-grandson.

RANDALLSTOWN, Md. - Mr. James Craig, 90, formerly of Chester County, died Monday, June 26, 2000, at Stella Morris Hospice Center in Lutherville, Md.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Freewill Baptist Church in Maryland.
Burial will be at King Memorial Park in Randallstown, Md.
Surviving are his wife, Burma A. Craig; three sons, Glen A. Craig, Grant E. Craig and William G. Craig, all of Baltimore; two daughters, Glenda Y. Smith and Loria Garrison, both of Baltimore; and his sister, Hopie Craig Whitlock of Rock Hill.

LANCASTER - Mrs. June Baker Gamble, 68, of 2677 Knotty Pine Drive died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Gamble was a daughter of the late Douglas Alexander Baker and Mae Hunter Baker.
She retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Westside Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, John W. Gamble; two sons, James Douglas "Jim" Gamble of Mount Pleasant and John Kenneth "Ken" Gamble of Lancaster; her brother, Ferris Baker of Lancaster; her sister, Edna Wheeler of Lancaster; and three grandsons.

BLACKSBURG - Mr. John Roy Harding, 79, of 383 York Road died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at home.

Mr. Harding was a son of the late William P. Harding and Cleo Dover Harding.
He retired from Celanese Corp. after 34 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp.
He was a member of Buffalo Masonic Lodge 202 for 50 years and was a member of Blacksburg First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ella Mae Hudson Harding; his son, John P. Harding II of Clover; his daughter, Janice Moorhead of Blacksburg; two brothers, Ray Harding of Brunswick, Ga., and Rush Harding of Spartanburg; three sisters, Ione Martin and Irene Harding, both of Blacksburg, and Wilma Rhodes of Gastonia, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Alonzo E. "Pete" Melton, 70, of 900 Nightingale Road died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A native of Monroe, N.C., Mr. Melton was a son of Louzetta Helms.
He was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired police officer and was retired from Duke Power.
He was a member of the armed forces.
Surviving are his wife, Kay B. Melton; his son, Michael K. Melton of Rock Hill; four daughters, Leslie K. Melton, Diane Melton and Cindy M. Shafer, all of Rock Hill, and Donna M. Fogle of Columbia; his brother, Frankie Helms of Monroe; his sister, Mable Keefer of Monroe; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

LANCASTER - Mrs. Myrtle L. Robinson Plyler, 78, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at White Oak Manor.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Plyler was a daughter of the late Charles L. Robinson and Ada Adams Robinson.
She was the widow of Warren H. Plyler.
A homemaker, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her son, Larry W. Plyler of Lancaster; her sister, Martha Johnson of Heath Springs; and her granddaughter.

A native of Hazard, Neb., Mrs. Roach was a daughter of Phillip Townsend Livingston and Phyllis Geraldine L. Livingston of Lincoln, Neb.
She was a member of Corinth Church of Monroe. She worked at Kanawha Insurance as a customer service representative.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Gene Roach; three sons, Gary Roach of Monroe, Jerry Roach of Vernon, N.J., and Jason Roach of Lancaster; her sister, Cheryl Livingston of Lincoln, Neb.; and five grandchildren.
