Alma McManus
LANCASTER - Mrs. Alma Knight McManus, 98, formerly of Lynwood Drive, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at White Oak Manor.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at West Side Cemetery, with the Rev. Roy Barnes officiating.
A native of Lancaster, Mrs. McManus was a daughter of the late James M. Knight and Martha Harris Knight. She was the widow of Lawton McManus and was the owner and operator of Alma's Cafe.
Surviving are her daughter, Mykkel L. Wallace of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; her sister, Dorothy Strom of Tallahassee, Fla.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends after the service.

James Merritt
INDIAN LAND - Mr. James Elliott "Bill" Merritt, 90, of 525 Bolick Road, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thurs-day at Indian Land Baptist Church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of York County, Mr. Merritt was a son of the late Andrew Hill Merritt and Bessie Felts Merritt. He was retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. He served in the South Carolina National Guard.
Surviving are his wife, Elma Stallings Merritt; his son, Jimmy Merritt of Indian Land; two daughters, Kathy Osborne and Carol Lucas, both of Indian Land; his stepson, David Sutton of Indian Land; his stepdaughter, Ann Griffin of Indian Land; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home of David and Kathy Osborne, 9069 Bolick Road.
Clyde Thompson
YORK - Mr. Clyde Edward Thompson of 1132 Sharon Road died Monday, March 27, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Clinton Chapel AME Zion Church, with the Rev. S. Franklin Russell II officiating and the Revs. Keith Hunter, Z.B. Wells and other ministers assisting. Burial will be at the Hopewell United Methodist Church cemetery.
A native of York, Mr. Thompson was a son of the late Walter Thompson and Bessie Currence Thompson. He was a member of Clinton Chapel AME Zion Church and served on the Steward Board. He was also a member of the Western York County National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He was a farmer, owned a nightclub for more than 40 years, then operated a pulpwooding company. In 1971, he opened Thompson Funeral Home, which he operated until 1980. Later, he operated Thompson Rental Properties.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret D. Thompson; and two sisters, Eula Davis and Ruth Thompson, both of York.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 8 tonight at Thompson Funeral Home. He will be placed in the church at noon Thursday.

YORK - Mr. Lindsay B. Williams, 81, of 115 Sterling Drive died Tues-day, March 28, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

CLOVER - Mr. Clyde Wright of 721 Kings Mountain St. died Monday, March 27, 2000, at the Brian Center in Gastonia, N.C.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Green Pond United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Amiri Hooker officiating.
The family will receive friends at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Robyn Bixenman
CHESTER - Mrs. Robyn Teates Bixenman, 45, of 1736 Pondside Drive died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 7 tonight at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Fox officiating. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Warrenton (N.C.) Baptist Church.
A native of Warrenton, Mrs. Bixenman was a daughter of Jane Enright Teates and the late Robert Campbell Teates. She graduated from Fauquier High School in Warrenton in 1973 and the University of Virginia in 1977 with a bachelor of science in nursing. She worked at St. Luke's Hospital in New York City from 1977 to 1980, then at The Fauqier Hospital from 1980 until she and her husband moved to Rock Hill.
While at Fauquier, she worked in the recovery room as a head nurse in the Tom Frost wing and ACLS instructor in the Home Health Department.
Over the past 11 years, she worked with her husband's medical practice as nurse and practice manager. She was a member of the American Practice Managers Association and had served as chairwoman of the Board of York County Hospice. She was a member of Warrenton Baptist Church, where she was organist.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Dr. William R. Bixenman; and her brother, Timothy Teates of Edinburg, Va.
The family will receive friends after the service tonight and from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Moser Funeral Home, 233 Broadview Ave., Warrenton, Va.

Raymond Bowling
LAKE WYLIE - Mr. Raymond "Ray" J. Bowling, 81, of Atria Assisted Living Center, 4877 Charlotte Hwy., formerly of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at Atria.
A native of Durham, N.C., Mr. Bowling was the son of the late John Henderson Bowling and Mattie Oakley Bowling. Mr. Bowling attended UNC-Chapel Hill and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II as a flight engineer. He worked in the NASA program for Martin Marietta and Grummnal Aircraft Corporations in Cape Canaveral, Fla. Mr. Bowling was retired from Duke Power Co., where he worked at the McGuire and Catawba nuclear stations. He was the widower of Mildred "Liz" Bartlett Bowling.
Surviving are his daughter, Lynda Stephany Bowling Richbourg of Lincolnton, N.C.; and his sister, Deanna B. Adams, of Durham.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at Atria at Lake Wylie and Clements Funeral Home in Durham.

ELLENBORO, N.C. - Mrs. Madge Greene Bridges, 92, of Ellenboro died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at Henderson Care Center in Forest City, N.C.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Walls Baptist Church, with the Revs. Dr. Robert Toneya and Roger Overton officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Rutherford County, N.C., Mrs. Bridge was a daughter of the late Edney Greene and Dora Cogdell Greene. She was the widow of Bryon B. Bridges. She was retired from Reeves Brothers in Chesnee and was a member of Walls Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Zelene B. Jackson of York and Ava Bowen of Savannah, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

SPARTANBURG - Mr. Rudy De Foix "Bub" Crocker, 81, of 410 Pierpont Ave. Ext. died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at Magnolia Manor of Inman.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, with the Rev. Lane Bembenek officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
A native of Spartanburg, Mr. Crocker was a son of the late John Roland Crocker and Alice Kaufman Crocker. He was retired from the U.S. Post Office and was a member of Retired Federal Employees. He also was a former Spartanburg County police officer.
Mr. Crocker was a member of Joy Lutheran Church and was a former member of Nativity Lutheran Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Lutheran Men. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion Post No. 28.
Surviving are his wife, Dortha Rose Crocker; two daughters, Flicka Gault of Rock Hill and Susan Heatherly of Spartanburg; and two granddaughters.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel and at other times at the home of his daughter, Susan Heatherly, 113 Derby Down, Spartanburg.

Allie Gouldin
CHARLESTON- Mrs. Allie Keels Gouldin, 89, of Hanahan, formerly of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at Heartland Healthcare.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Tom Bohart officiating.
A native of Blythewood, Mrs. Gouldin was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Keels and Dora Rose Keels.
Surviving are her stepson, Jake Gouldin of Rock Hill; her brother, Walker Keels of North Charleston; her niece; and four nephews.
Visitation will follow the graveside service.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Barbara Gilreath Holland, 71, of 1315 Quiet Acres, formerly of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Shytle officiating. Burial will be private.
A native of Anderson, Mrs. Holland was a daughter of the late Mack Gilreath and Clara Gilreath. She was a disabled retiree of Publix Supermarkets in St. Petersburg, Fla., and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her brother, John Gilreath of Pawleys Islands; her sister, Joan Tethel of Rock Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

CASSATT - Mr. Kenneth Burnette Knigge Jr., 37, of 2439 Mount Hebron died Monday, March 27, 2000.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the home. Burial will be at a later date.
Born in Houston, Mr. Knigge was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Burnette Knigge Sr. He was an auto body technician for Hixon's Auto Repair.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Michaele B. Knigge; his son, Trevor Dean Knigge of Garrison, Texas; his brother, Marc Crane of Darlington; and his sister, Joy Crane of Darlington.

FORT MILL - Mrs. Lillie Simmons Lambert, 92, of 1657 Hensley Road died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Unity Cemetery, with the Revs. Roland Dry and James Herron officiating.
A lifelong resident of Fort Mill, Mrs. Lambert was a daughter of the late Benjamin Simmons and Fannie Simmons. She was retired from Springs Industries. She was a former Sunday school teacher, played the piano and was director of the UMW at Temple Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Carl Lambert; her son, Buddy Lambert of Rock Hill; her daughter, Marilyn Neely of Fort Mill; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Small was a son of the late Ira Boyd Small and Annie Clements Small McClellan. Mr. Small was a retired general foreman for Shop 31 with the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Rich Hill Baptist Church and was an Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Mary E. Smith Small; his son, Barber Russell Small Jr. of Rocky Mountain, N.C.; two daughters, Ann Joyner of Heath Springs and Lorainne Price of Mount Pleasant; his sister, Mary Stowe of Carson, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
