ROCK HILL - Mrs. Arneda Victoria Smith Butler, 49, of 343 Cummings St. died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at home.
Homegoing appreciation celebration services will be 7 tonight at the Church of God of Prophecy, 830 S. Spruce St. The repass service will follow in the fellowship hall.
The body may be viewed from 9 to 10 :30 a.m. Saturday at J.B. Jenkins Funeral Home, 716 Kennedy St. NW, Washington, D.C. A homegoing celebration service will follow at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will be at Harmony Memorial Park, 7101 Sheriff Road, Landover, Md. Minister Bennie Smith will officiate.
Mrs. Butler was the daughter of the late Milton E. Smith and Alma K. Smith.
Surviving are her husband Stephen Butler Jr., Rock Hill; two sons, Stephen Butler III and Lawrence Butler; two daughters, Michelle Butler and Renee Smalls; two brothers, Robert Smith and Wesley Smith; and two sisters, Ethel Sweeney and Carolyn Scurry.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Ernest Lewis Boone, 76, of 317-B N. Jones Ave. died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare.
A memorial service will be 6 tonight at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Shytle officiating. Burial will be private.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Boone was a son of the late Lewis M. Boone and Onie Shelton Boone. Mr. Boone was an insulator with Austin Insulation Co. in Fort Mill. He was a Marine veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his daughter, Kathey B. Hunsucker of Rock Hill; his grandson, Brian Yannotti; and his great-grandson.
The family will receive friends tonight after the service.

Woodrow Byrum
ROCK HILL - Mr. Woodrow Wilson Byrum, 87, of 236 Pointe Circle died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000.
A memorial service was Wednesday at St. John's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. W. Timothy McClendon and Pastor Carol R. Cannon officiating. Private burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
A native of Waxhaw, N.C., Mr. Byrum was a son of the late Charles Franklin Byrum and Sara McKinney Byrum. He worked for a number of years with J.P. Stevens in food services. He was a 1974 retiree of Mackie Vending Co., to whom he sold his business, Vendine. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Golden K Kiwanis and a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Camp Ground in Union County, N.C. He was active with HOPE and Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Crane Byrum; his son, David Byrum of Chapin; two daughters, Woodeane Smith of Rock Hill and Sally Adkins of Easley; his brother, Allen Byrum of Rock Hill; and four grandchildren.

Ralph Kelley
FORT MILL - Mr. Ralph Clair Kelley, 85, of 9931 Charlotte Highway died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
Arrangements will be announced by Wolfe Funeral Home.
A native of Elkhart, Ind., Mr. Kelley was a son of the late Clarence Kelley and Mary Erb Kelley. He served in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II and served in France, England and Germany. A longtime resident of Charlotte, Mr. Kelley retired form Nibco Corp. where he was branch manager. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club, Toastmasters and the Lions Club. After retirement, he moved to Fort Mill and worked for Springs Recreation Complex in membership services for more than 20 years. He also taught reading in adult literacy programs. He was a former member of the Indian Land Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and the New Life Church of Pineville, N.C. He also was a Ham radio operator.
Surviving are his wife, Helen E. Kelley; two daughters, Nancy Segriff of Tarentum, Pa., and Karen L. Kelley of Long; his sister, Bonnie McKibben of Elkhart; two grandchildren and his great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Friday at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at home.

HOBE SOUND, Fla. - Mrs. Cheryl Lynn Brocato Lowder, 38, of 7702 S.E. Mammoth Drive died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at Martin Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord, with the Rev. Dwight Pearson officiating.
A native of Shelby, N.C., Mrs. Lowder was a daughter of Lurlene Standridge Brocato of Concord, and the late Frank Anthony Brocato. She was a professional engineer with Duke Energy Corp. for 15 years. She was a member of Chester ARP Church, the S.C. Society of Professional Engineers, Institute of Industrial Engineers, and the Society of Women Engineers. She was a registered professional engineer in South Carolina.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, William Aaron Lowder Sr.; two sons, William Aaron Lowder Jr. and Anthony Harward Lowder, both of the home; and two sisters, Barbara Ann B. Orr of Spartanburg and Deborah Louise Brocato of Arlington, Va.

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH - Mr. Douglas Dewitt Sweezy, 77, of North Myrtle Beach died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
Burial was Oct. 23, 1999, at Sunset Cemetery in Shelby, N.C., with the Rev. Dr. W. Timothy McClendon officiating. A memorial service followed at Cauthen Funeral Home in Rock Hill.
A native of Shelby, Mr. Sweezy was a son of Elijah Monroe Sweezy and Dolly Mae Gantt Sweezy. He was retired from textiles and operated several motels in Myrtle Beach. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and was of the Baptist faith. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are three daughters, Brenda Sweezy of McLean, Va., Sue Sweezy of San Francisco and Candy S. Wilson of Rock Hill; his brother, Hal Sweezy of Pennsylvania; his sister, Ann Bowen of Shelby, N.C.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Margaret Brakefield Ashe, 84, of Spring Arbor, 1800 India Hook Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Matthew B. Horne officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Mrs. Ashe was a daughter of the late George Brakefield and Ida White Brakefield. She was the widow of Alva B. Ashe. A homemaker, she was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sons, Alva R. Ashe and Lowell B. Ashe, both of Rock Hill; four sisters, Helen Bradford of Columbus, Ga., Jeanette Darby, Elizabeth Woodle and Doris Brakefield, all of Chester; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Bennett was a daughter of the late Robert Vance Jones and Rena Vincent Jones. A homemaker, she was the widow of Walter Banks "Bill" Bennett.
