Frances Longshore Kinsey, 80, formerly of Newberry, died Thursday, December 11, 2003 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Kinsey was born on September 21, 1923 in Newberry County. She was a retired employee of J. B. White and Dillard Department Stores and was a former high school teacher. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She graduated from Silverstreet High School and was class Valedictorian. She was a graduate of Newberry College, class of 1944.
Mrs. Kinsey is survived by a son, Lance G. Kinsey of Los Angeles, CA, a sister, Virginia L. Medlock of Newberry; two brothers, Hugh F. Longshore, Jr. and Donald L. Longshore, both of Newberry; two grandchildren, Matt Livingston Kinsey and Logan Michelle Kinsey, both of Los Angeles, CA. She was predeceased by a sister, Annette L. Clark.
Funeral services for Frances Longshore Kinsey will be conducted at 3:00 P. M. Sunday at the Whitaker Funeral Home by the Rev. Randy Monk. Interment will be in New Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 P. M. Sunday at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry.

Helen Davis Darby

Helen Davis Darby, 96, formerly of 1197 Chapman Street, Newberry, widow of William J. “Bill” Darby, died Monday, December 8, 2003 at the J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home.
Mrs. Darby was born on October 9, 1907 in Newberry, a daughter of the late Issac S. and Jessie Miller Davis. She retired from Baker-Buddin Insurance Agency and also worked at Newberry Memorial Gardens. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
Mrs. Darby is survived by a son, Mike Darby of Newberry, a sister and brother-in-law, Atlee D. and John B. Lindsay, Sr. of Newberry. She was predeceased by a sister, Clara D. Ridout; and four brothers, Aubrey I. Davis, Pearce C. Davis, J. R. “Bill” Davis, and Jackson B. Davis.
Memorial graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 A. M. Wednesday at the Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Steven Counts and the Rev. Floyd Sides.

J. Walker Schumpert, Jr.

J. Walker Schumpert, Jr., 66 of Columbia, died Friday at the Lexington Medical Center.
Mr. Schumpert was born on May 20, 1937 in Newberry, a son of the late John Walker and Elizabeth Reese Schumpert. He was a graduate of Newberry College, a retired systems analysis and was an organ donor. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Columbia and was a former member of the congregational council. He was also a member of Lutheran Men and the Dutch Square Walkers.
Mr. Schumpert was a very loving husband and father and he is survived by his wife, Pawnee Counts Schumpert of the home; a daughter, Kathy Pawnee Schumpert of Cumming GA; a son, Dwayne Walker Schumpert of Irmo; a brother and sister-in-law, R. David and Kathy Schumpert of Mountville; a sister-in-law and spouse, Ruby and Earl Deaton of Prosperity; and two nieces, Amy S. Owen of Cheraw and Laurie S. Carlton of Laurens.
Funeral services for J. Walker Schumpert will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church by the Rev. Gary Loadholt. Interment will be at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday at Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Chapin.

Dan G. Perry, Sr., 70, of 558 Glenn Street Extension, died Friday, January 30, 2004 at his residence.
Mr. Perry was born on June 6, 1933 in Franklin, TN, a son of the late J. J. and Frances Davenport Perry. He was a retired dairy farmer and attended Central Ave. Baptist Church in Whitmire.
Mr. Perry is survived by wife, Margie McMurtury Perry of the home; three daughters and son-in-law, Faye P.and Terry Brooks and Becky P. Brown, both of Newberry and Janet P. Moates of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Dan G. Perry, Jr.and Tina Perry of Newberry; three sisters, Ethel Spear of Franklin, TN, Joann Williams and Lou Travis, both of North Carolina; a brother, Roger Perry of Silverstreet; seven grandchildren, Felicia Brooks, Daniel Brown, Kevin Brown, Dan Perry, III, Dianna Moates, Martin Moates, III, and Renee Perry. Special friends of the family, Reynaldo Munoz, Brad Bright, and Debra Vance.
Funeral services for Dan G. Perry, Sr. will be conducted at 2:00 P. M. Monday at Central Ave. Baptist Church by the Rev. Wako Cotney. Interment will be Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Visitation will from 12:30 to 1:45 P. M. at Central Ave. Baptist Church in Whitmire.

Robert Ian Hentz, infant son of William Robert Hentz, Jr. and Angel Huffman Hentz of 779 SC Hwy 202, Little Mountain, died Thursday at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia
Besides his parents of Little Mountain, he survived by his maternal grandparents, Roy and Nancy Huffman of Saluda; paternal grandparents, Bobby and Glenda Hentz of Little Mountain; maternal great-grandmothers, Ruby Huffman of Wagener and Mary Daniels of Aiken; paternal great-grandmother, Mildred Hentz of Little Mountain.
Private graveside funeral services will be conducted Saturday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Little Mountain.

Donna Seeliger, 51, formerly of Newberry, known lovingly as DeDe, wife of Dan Seeliger entered into eternal rest Saturday, January 24, 2004, in her sleep at their home in Davenport, Iowa.
Mrs. Seeliger was born on 0ctober 24, 1952 in Augusta, Maine. She was the daughter of Ransom (Randy) Bush of Silverstreet, and the late Jean Bush, mother to Tonya Burton Garland, mother-in-law of Dicky Garland, grandmother to Jacob Garland, all of Silverstreet, sister to Charles and Gwen Bush of Brady, TX, and Ronda and Jim Perry of Silverstreet, aunt to Julie, Kris and Wyatt Davis of Columbia, Rustin Scott and Leslie Bush of Dallas, TX, Jamie, Angela and Jody Perry of Pomaria and Marlene Bush of Dallas, TX, daughter-in-law of Walter and Cathryn Seeliger of Madison, WI and stepmother to Brent Seeliger of Davenport, IA and Tiffany and Todd Shull of Columbia, as well as sister-in-law to Scott Seeliger.
Donna lived in Silverstreet for 29 years before moving to Iowa in 1999. She leaves behind many other family members and friends.
Funeral services for Donna Bush Seeliger will be held Friday, at 3:00 P. M. at Whitaker Funeral Home by Rev. Eddie Bledsoe. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Springdale Section.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to7:00 P.M. Thursday at Whitaker Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends at her father’s home, 911 SC Hwy 121 in Silverstreet.

Carl R. Frick

Carl R. Frick, 89, of 608 Dreher Island Road, Little Mountain, died Monday, January 26, 2004 at his residence.
Mr. Frick was born on February 22, 1914 in Lexington County, a son of the late Wilbur R. and Nina Riddle Frick. He was a retired farmer and carpenter. He was a member of the St. Peter’s (Pineywood) Lutheran Church, a member of Primetimers of the church, a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and a former member of the church council.
Mr. Frick is survived by his beloved wife of over 70 years, Nettie Cannon Frick of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Retha F. and Frank Alewine of Chapin and Nancy F. and David Frick of Little Mountain; two sisters, Kathleen Shealy of Prosperity and Alda Rae Cannon of Little Mountain; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Jerry Frick, a brother J. E. Frick; a grandson, Patrick Frick and a great-grandson, T. J. Shealy.
Funeral services for Carl R. Frick will be at 2:00 P. M. Wednesday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Chapin by the Rev. David Tholstrup. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P. M. Tuesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Chapin and the family will be at the residence, 608 Dreher Island Road, Little Mountain.
