NEW YORK - Mrs. Bessie Jones Peterson of Hamilton Place, formerly of York, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at a New York hospital.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at New Home AME Zion Church in York, with the Rev. Dr. Clyde Jenkins officiating and the Rev. Dr. Willie Garrison eulogizing. Burial will be at Gold Hill Baptist Church cemetery in York.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary Collins of York; two sons, Frank Peterson of New York and Thomas Robinson of Rock Hill; her brother, Harry Jones of New York; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Thompson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, 6 Highway 321 Bypass in York.
The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Jade Platko
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Jade Renee Platko, 6-month-old daughter of Lisa Renee Piņa of Corpus Christi and Richard Alan Platko of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000.
A funeral Mass will be Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at Memory Gardens cemetery.
Surviving in addition to her parents are two brothers, Robert Zachary Piņa and Angel Rene Piņa, both of Corpus Christi; her sister, Melanie Paige Piņa of Corpus Christi; her maternal grandmother, Caroline Mondragon of Corpus Christi; her maternal grandfather, Rene Rodriguez of Corpus Christi; her paternal grandmother, Elaine Platko of Rock Hill; her paternal grandfather, Keith Forsyth of Canada; her maternal great-grandfather, Ramon Rodriguez; and paternal great-grandmother, Edna Tretocki.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 tonight at Memorial Funeral Home, Crosstown Chapel.
Regina Polston
LANCASTER - Mrs. Regina Altman "Dollie" Polston, 63, of 2451 Campbell Lake Road died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The graveside service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Camp Creek Baptist Church, with the Revs. Cecil Johnson and Eddie Usher officiating.
A native of Andrews, Mrs. Polston was the daughter of the late Eddie Lee Altman and the late Bealuh Mae Altman. She was a homemaker and a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, James E. Mackey Sr.; two sons, Charles "Shorty" Polston and Michael Polston, both of Lancaster; two daughters, Brenda P. Davenport and Kicki P. Kennington, both of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hartley Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Vickie P. Kennington, 2718 Camp Creek Road.

Howard G. Wilson
Waxhaw, N.c. - Mr. Howard G. Wilson, 96, of 8701-B Beraka Place, Waxhaw, N.C., died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
A native of Genoa, N.Y., Mr. Wilson was a son of the late George D. Wilson and Emma Jane Harnden Wilson. A member of the Newark Baptist Church, Mr. Wilson was a retired heavy equipment operator.
Surviving are his son, Merle Wilson of Sevierville, Tenn.; his daughter, Gene Hyland of Waxhaw, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Thomas Bigham
CHESTER - Mr. Thomas Woodrow Bigham, 83, of 682 Great Falls Highway died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will be at Union Cemetery in Richburg.
A native of Chester, Mr. Bigham was a son of the late C.W. Bigham and Eliza Brantley Bigham. Mr. Bigham was a retired electrician and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a former teacher of the Agoga Class. He was a graduate of Chester County schools. Mr. Bigham was a 50-year member of the Richburg Masonic Lodge No. 89.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret M. Bigham; three sons, William David Peeples and Michael Marion Austin, both of Chester, and Walter Austin of Cairo, Egypt; his daughter, Louise Turner of Fort Lawn; two brothers, E.L. Adams of Edgemoor and James Bigham of Chester; two sisters, Betty Bagley and Carrie Dover, both of Chester; and five grandchildren.

Elouise Byers
YORK - Mrs. Elouise "Bunny" Haggins Byers, 67, of Trenton, N.J., died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Water's Edge Nursing Center in Trenton.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Gold Hill Baptist Church in York, with the Rev. George McCoy officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of York, Mrs. Byers was a daughter of the late Alice Haggins Mitchell. She was a member of the Gold Hill Baptist Church, where she was an usher and choir member. She later joined Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Trenton, where she was a member of the Willing workers.
Surviving are six brothers, Jimmy Mitchell and Andrew Mitchell, both of Rock Hill; Frank Haggins of Trenton; and Ernest Mitchell, Carl Mitchell and William Haggins, all of York; six sisters, Wilie Mae Byrd and Christine Young, both of York; Pauline Gundy of Trenton; and Maggie Curry, Johnnie Mae Hefty and Ivy Lee Miller, all of Rock Hill.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Gold Hill Baptist Church and at other times at the home of Christine Young, 135 Hickory Lane, York.

Clyde Carter
ROCK HILL - Mr. Clyde Carter, 70, of 1427 Hands Mill Highway died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Monday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Mike Wallace officiating.
A native of Newberry, Mr. Carter was a son of the late Jess C. Carter and Rachel Thomas Carter. He was the widower of Susie Parrish Carter.
Mr. Carter was retired from the York County Natural Gas Co. and worked for several construction companies performing pipe line construction. He was a Beef Master cattle farmer and member of the Beef Master Cattle Association. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and was a member of the American Legion. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are two sons, Michael A. Carter of Rock Hill and Thomas C. Carter of Carrollton, Ga.; two daughters, Lyn C. Bagwell of Fort Mill and Christine C. Smith of Rock Hill; his brother, Johnny Carter of Rock Hill; his sister, Geneva Adams of Rock Hill; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Greene Funeral Home and other times at the home of Lyn Bagwell, 125 Amelia Drive, Fort Mill.
Kevin Cunnup
ROCK HILL - Mr. Kevin Wayne Cunnup, 19, 111 Mitchum Road died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Jerry Devinney officiating.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Cunnup was a son of Charles Larry Cunnup and Karen Hammond, both of Rock Hill. He attended Rock Hill High School and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Cunnup was employed as a drywall installer with Southern Drywall in Rock Hill.
Surviving in addition to his parents are two brothers, Charles David "Nuppy" Cunnup and Jonathan Paul "Jay" Cunnup, both of Rock Hill; and his maternal grandmother, Thelma Hammond of Rock Hill.

Mildred Davidson
YORK - Mrs. Mildred "Jo" Whitesides Davidson, 65, formerly of Clover, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at White Oak Manor.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Woodside Cemetery in Clover, with the Revs. Shady Lane and Earl Combs officiating.
A native of York County, Mrs. Davidson was a daughter of the late Muril Cloninger Whitesides and Ira Whitesides. She was the widow of the Rev. Burt L. Davidson. She and her late husband were founders of the Free Spiritual Tabernacle Church in Clover.
Surviving are three sons, the Rev. Lanny Davidson, Randy Davidson and Ben Davidson, all of Clover; two daughters, Arlene D. Patterson and Cindy D. Wheeler, both of Clover; three brothers, Novak Whitesides and Larry Whitesides, both of Kings Mountain, N.C., and Hugh "Whitey" Whitesides of Spartanburg; and two sisters, Iris Thomas of Clover and Ann Lee Bostic of Ranlo, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Robert Johnson Sr.
CHESTER - Mr. Robert Wayne "Rabbit" Johnson Sr., 64, of 123 Oakland Ave. died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Chester County Hospital.
The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donald Scoggins officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Great Falls.
A native of Boaz, Ala., Mr. Johnson was a son of Eunice Gray Johnson Doster of Ridgeway and the late Marvin Johnson. He was a retired maintenance mechanic for Sequa Chemical Co. He was a graduate of Chester County schools.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife, Judy B. Johnson; two sons, Robert Johnson Jr. and David Johnson, both of Chester; four daughters, Penny Hollis, Tracy J. Mobley, Teresa J. McAteer and Patricia J. Bailey, all of Chester; his stepson, Jack Strickland of Chester; his stepdaughter, Laura Spurlock of Chester; 14 grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

Lucille Mosley
CLOVER - Mrs. Lucille Mosley of 744 Guinn St. died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, in Clover.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Gold Hill Baptist Church in York, with the Revs. George McCoy, Stellie Jackson, Roderick Pendleton and Dr. Benjamin Hinton officiating. Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery in Filbert.
A native of York County, Mrs. Mosley was a daughter of the late Joe Brown and Omiga Rodey Brown. She was educated in the York County school district and later moved to Salisbury, N.C. and then to Philadelphia. She was employed by Textile Processors and Health Care services until her retirement in 1983. She attended the Upper Room Baptist Church in Philadelphia.
Surviving are three sisters, Louise Barnette of Philadelphia, Mattie Sitgraves of Rock Hill and Bessie B. Pitts of Clover; two brothers, John Brown of Philadelphia and J.C. Brown of Clover; and three grandchildren.
The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. today.
The family will be at the home of Bessie Pitts, 744 Guinn St., Clover.

Rose Patterson
COLUMBIA - Miss Rose Marie Patterson of 140 Flora Drive died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000.
The funeral will be noon today at Leevy's Funeral Home, Taylor Street Chapel, in Columbia. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Cemetery in Rock Hill.
A native of York County, Miss Patterson was a daughter Verleen Strong of Columbia and Wardell Patterson of Rock Hill.
Surviving in addition to her parents are four sisters, Geraldine Nelson, Wanda Patterson, Robin McClain and Yvonne Mabry, all of Rock Hill; two brothers, Wardell Patterson and Dannie Patterson, both of Rock Hill.
The family will be at 115 Hillcrest Ave., Columbia.
Donald Spoon
CLOVER - Mr. Donald Lee Spoon, 49, of 1188 Galway Lane died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at home.
The funeral will be private.
A native of Tyler, Texas, Mr. Spoon was maintenance director of Magnolia Manor in Rock Hill.
Surviving are his wife, Jolene Kay Schmidt Spoon; his daughter, Lisa Marie Spoon of Elmira, N.Y.; and his son, Cody Shane Keegan Carson of Broomfield, Colo.

Lorenzo Steele
YORK - Mr. Lorenzo Steele, 87, of White Oak Manor died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Mount Zion Baptist Church in McConnells, with the Rev. A.J. Johnson officiating and the Rev. Dr. John McCoy delivering the eulogy. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Mr. Steele was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a retired farmer.
Surviving are his niece and caregiver, Betty Steele Smith of Greensboro, N.C.
