CHESTER - Mr. Ernest Dennis Gladney Jr., 39, of 109 Lowry St. died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Brown's Chapel AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Otha L. Smith officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Mr. Gladney was a son of Ernest Gladney Sr. and Anna Gladney. He was member of Brown's Chapel AME Zion Church and was a 1980 graduate of Chester High School. Mr. Gladney was a former employee of the Chester County school district.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his brother, Johnny Rambert of Chester; and two sisters, Jacqueline Gladney and Ernestine Clifton, both of Chester.
The family will receive friends at the residence. The body will be carried to the church at 2 p.m. Monday and may be viewed from 2 to 9 p.m. today at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.
Anne Gregory
KERSHAW - Mrs. Anne Brown Gregory, 95, of 203 N. Matson St., died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at the Kershaw County Medical Center in Camden.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel of the First Baptist Church in Kershaw, with the Rev. Bryant D. Fersner officiating. Burial will be at the Kershaw City Cemetery.
Mrs. Gregory was a daughter of the late Charles and Lena Joiner Brown. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, played the piano and directed the choir. She graduated from the University of Georgia and was a teacher and homemaker.
Mrs. Gregory was the widow of Ralph Gregory.
Surviving are her daughter, Annolyn Mackey of Rock Hill; her sister, Grace Hawkes of Thomaston, Ga.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

CARLISLE - Mr. Jerry H. "Frog" Johnson, 48, of 7712 Ashford Ferry Road, formerly of Charlotte, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Old Hope Station Baptist Church in Fairfield County, with the Revs. David Rice officiating and Moses Lightner delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A native of Spartanburg County, Mr. Johnson was a son of Sarah Johnson of Carlisle and the late Eddie Gist. He was a member of the Old Hope Station Baptist Church and attended Fairfield County public schools.
Surviving in addition to his mother are five brothers, Ronald Johnson of Blair, James Johnson of Chester, Spencer Johnson and Roy Johnson, both of Carlisle and Bernard Johnson of Rock Hill; and his sister, Nancy Davis of Chester.

ROCK HILL - Mr. William Monroe Hays Latham, 84, of 4186 Old York Road died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's United Methodist Church, with Dr. W. Timothy McClendon and the Rev. Carol Cannon officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.
A native of Sharon, Mr. Latham was a son of the late Samuel Jackson Latham and Orrie Shillinglaw Latham. He was retired from Marshall Oil Company and was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church.
Mr. Latham was the widower of Helen Mitchell Latham.
Surviving are his daughter, Faye Latham Smith of Rock Hill; his sister Alda Latham Rabon of Rock Hill; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill chapel, and at other times at the home of his daughter, Faye Smith, at 821 Gist Road.

LEXINGTON - Mrs. Ila Elizabeth Meetze, 79, of 351 Barr Road died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000.

A native of Lexington, Mrs. Meetze was a daughter of the late Augustus and Clara Conner Wingard. She was a housewife and was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her husband, F. Raymond Meetze; two daughters, Ann Wood of York and Margie Bundrick of Lexington; and five grandchildren.

CHESTER - Mr. Major Wilson Roddy, 82, of 32 E. White St. died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at the Chester County Hospital.

A native of Waxhaw, N.C., Mr. Roddy was a son of the late James Thomas Roddy and Mamie Hallman Roddy. He was retired from Springs Industries in Chester and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 16 and of the Nazarene faith.
Surviving are his wife, Willie Mae S. Roddy; his sister, Pauline Grant of Chester; and a number of nieces and nephews.

LANCASTER - Mr. Ralph Leslie Threatt, 75, of 2638 Knotty Pine Drive died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at Lancaster County Convalescent Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Dr. Harold Owens officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
A native Lancaster County, Mr. Threatt was a son of the late Clifford Threatt and Henrietta Threatt. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he retired from Springs Industries-Leroy plant and was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Surviving are his wife, Cornelia Threatt; his son, Erwin Threatt of Columbia; his daughter, Melanie Wallace of Lancaster; his brother, Clifford Threatt Jr. of Kershaw; three sisters, Carolyn Gatwood of Cary, N.C., Annie Goodwin of Will Point, Texas, and Lily Grey Parker of Colleyville, Texas; and two grandsons.

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Emma Simpson Walker, 86, formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at St. Joseph Hospital.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at the Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Catawba, with the Rev. Ray Thompson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A daughter of the late Joe Simpson and Annie Simpson, she was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church. She was the widow of Roosevelt Walker.
Surviving are two sons, Nathaniel Walker of Charlotte and Theodore Walker, both of Rock Hill; two daughters, Rose Walker of Augusta, Ga., and Joe Ann Walker-Cathcart of Columbia; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

ROCK HILL - Mr. James W. "Kudda" Adams, 48, of 1021 Henderson St. died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at home.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Archie Stover officiating and the Rev. Billy Wilson assisting. Burial will be at the Crossroads Baptist Church cemetery.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Adams was a son of the late William Biggers and Fannie Elizabeth Adams. He attended York County public schools.
Surviving are his son, Antonio Mitchell of Rock Hill; his daughter, Della Rene Mitchell of Rock Hill; three brothers, Clayton Adams, Barry Adams and Gary Adams, all of Rock Hill; his sister, Elizabeth Ann Adams of Rock Hill; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Sylvia Elizabeth Heaney Clem, 88, of 205 Ingram St. in Kershaw died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at White Oak Manor in Lancaster.

A native of Fairmont, Mrs. Clem was the daughter of the late Hohn Hamilton and Ethel May Roach Heaney. She was the widow of the late Paul Wilson Clem Sr.

Clem of Almena, Wis.; two brothers, Walter Raymond Heaney of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Jennings Robert Heaney of Nutley, N.J.; three sisters, Mary Katherine Bischoff of Houston, Texas, Pauline Marie Rush of Bunker Hill, W.Va., and Ethel Evelyn Storm of Worthington, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A native of York County, Mrs. Gladden was a daughter of the late Robert Wheeler and the late Sally Wheeler. She was the widow of Everette Gladden. Mrs. Gladden retired from Rock Hill Printing &Finishing Company and was a member of the former White Street Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary Walters of Rock Hill; four grandchildren; and seven grandchildren.
