James Miller
ROCK HILL - Mr. James Curtis Miller of 1127 Constitution Blvd. died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greater Foundation AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Leroy McCrea officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Miller was a son of the late Dill Miller and Isabel Witherspoon Miller. He was a member of Greater Foundation AME Zion Church and was a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Miller belonged to the Masonic Booker T. Washington Lodge, was a chair leader at the Church and belonged to hymn choir No. 1. He was a member of the AP&B Society. He attended the public schools of York County.
Surviving are his wife, Lula Miller of Rock Hill; his son, Paul Lindsey of Rock Hill; three daughters, Claudette Marrison of Harrisburg, Penn., and Tawanda McKinney and Jannatta Richardson, both of Rock Hill; three sisters, Sarah Miller of Winston-Salem, N.C., Arletha Robin-son of Charlotte and Mary Patton of Rock Hill; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Minnie Mobley
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Minnie Lee Mobley of 260 Blanche Circle died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Nazareth Baptist Church, with the Revs. John T. McCoy and Rodney Freeman officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of York County, Mrs. Mobley was a daughter of Jannie Flood of Rock Hill and the late Clarence Flood. She was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church and attended public school in York County.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her son, Jimmie Mobley of Rock Hill; her daughter, Joann Mobley Gordon of Rock Hill; three sisters, Bessie Gillcrease of Rock Hill, Inez Purrington of Queens, N.Y., and Susie Baldwin of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and her grandchild.
The family will receive friends at her mother's home at 241 Blanche Circle.
The body may be viewed from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church at noon Wednesday.
J. Eugene Sullivan
LANCASTER - Mr. J. Eugene Sullivan, 85, of 5788 Tabernacle Road died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tom Wilkes III officiating. Burial will be at Tabernacle United Methodist Church cemetery.
A native of Lancaster, Mr. Sullivan was a son of the late James Oscar Sullivan and Margaret Josephine Ormand Sullivan. He was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church and was the former owner and operator of Sullivan Small Engine Repair, Sales and Service. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he served with the Corps of Engineers. A member of Stafford Graham American Legion Post No. 31, Mr. Sullivan was a Mason and was a member of Wannamaker Lodge No. 329 and Hejaz Shrine Temple.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Rowell Sullivan; and three sisters, Floride Duncan and Katherine Jones, both of Lancaster, and Connie Carnes of Myrtle Beach.

Dennis Collins
FORT MILL - Mr. Dennis Roger Collins, 55, of 1326 Banks Road died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Unity Cemetery, with the Rev. David Kemp officiating.
Mr. Collins was a son of Janie Fields Collins of Fort Mill and the late Richard Collins. He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of American Legion Post 43. A graduate of Fort Mill High School, he was a self-employed painter and avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are two sons, Roger Collins of Fort Mill and Jamie Collins of York; two daughters, Tammy Croom of York and Teresa Windham of Gastonia, N.C.; his brother, Gene Collins of Fort Mill; his sister, Janis Armstrong of Fort Mill; and nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Fort Mill Funeral Home and other times at the home of his sister, 2410 Holbrook Road.
Charles Ellis
LANCASTER - Mr. Charles Boyd Ellis, 52, of 177 W. Shiloh Unity Road died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hartley Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Mike Hammond officiating.
A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Ellis was a son of Effie Mae Melton Ellis of Lancaster and the late William Baxter Ellis. He was a carpenter.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Rhonda Riley Ellis of the home; two sons, Chris Ellis and Charles Morris, both of Lancaster; two daughters, Charlene Hall of Lancaster and Melissa Ellis of Beaufort; his stepson, Herman Lester Jr. of Grundy, Va.; three stepdaughters, Tammy Looney of Lenior, N.C., Rita Atkins of Kentucky and Michelle Blankenship of Grundy, Va.; his brother, Larry Ellis of Lan-caster; five grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.

LANCASTER - Mr. Curtis Adams, 81, of 1102 Hampton Grace Ave. died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at White Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Bobby Bailey and the Rev. Elton Lane officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
A native of Greenwood County, Mr. Adams was a son of the late Thomas Earl Adams and Martha Carrie Proctor Adams. He was retired from Springs Industries and a member of White Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ida Hudson Adams of the home; his son, Jerry Adams of Lancaster; two daughters, Earline McNeely of Lancaster and Ginny Fickling of Collinsville, Va.; two sisters, Azalee McCoy of Honea Path and Ernestine Thompson of Lancaster; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his great-great-grandchild.

Curt Bearden
SENECA - Mr. Curt Ess Bearden, 94, of 253 Tokeena Road died Sunday, November 21, 1999, at the Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oconee Memorial Park, with the Rev. Randy Keasler and Cecil Loftis officiating.
A native of Oakway, Mr. Bearden was a son of the late William Walker Bearden and Mary Hill Bearden. He was the widower of Frederica Margaret Clayton Bearden. He was a retired county health inspector with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He served in the Air Corps Reserves and worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. He is a graduate of Long Creek Academy and Clemson Agricultural College in 1928.
Surviving are his son, Clayton Zeigler Bearden of York; two daughters, Carolyn Anita Bearden of Seneca and Phyllis Elaine Bearden of Green-ville; and his granddaughter.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Brown-Oglesby Funeral Home in Seneca.

John Caldwell Sr.
CLOVER - Mr. John William Caldwell Sr., 89, of 875 Glenn Road died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bowling Green Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Bob Abel officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Gaston County, Mr. Caldwell was a son of the late Edward Newman Caldwell and Mary Robbie Riddle Caldwell. He was the widower of Martha Parrish Caldwell. He was a lifetime member of Bowling Green Presbyterian Church, where he served as Elder, deacon and superintendent of the Sunday school. He served as a trustee on the Clover school district board from 1947 until 1970. He was a member of the South Carolina Election Board. He was retired from Charlotte Aircraft and a retired farmer.
Surviving are his two sons, Dick Caldwell and Bill Caldwell, both of Clover; his daughter, Sis Bentley of Clover; his brother, Joe Caldwell of Clover; his sister, Betty C. Taylor of Gastonia, N.C.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the church fellowship hall and at other times at the home of his daughter, Sis Bentley, 889 Glenn Road, Clover.

CHESTER - Mrs. Ruby Pendergrass Land of 565 Vance Drive died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church in the Wilksburg community, with the Revs. J.E. Darby officiating and the Revs. Curtis Washington, James Good, Columbus Pendergrass and Larry Jackson assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Mrs. Land was a daughter of the late Vinnie Pendergrass. She was the widow of Paul Lee Land. She attended the public schools of Chester County. She joined Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church at an early age, where she was a member of the senior choir and Senior Missionary Society.
Surviving are eight children, Joelene Tripplett of Buffalo, N.Y., Lorine Hardin of Lowrys, Mable Camps, Terry Pendergrass Sr., Willie Pendergrass, Kenneth Pendergrass Sr. and Richard Land, all of Chester, and Rickie Pendergrass of Rock Hill; three stepchildren, Paul Land Jr. of Amityville, N.Y., Sue Mae Chambers of Inwood, N.Y., and David Land Sr.; her sister, Marie Pendergrass of Cheektowaga, N.Y.; 39 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Lorine Hardin, 793 Charity Road, Lowrys.
The body may be viewed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at Christopher King's Funeral Home at 703 Old York Road, Chester.
The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Beatrice Slade
CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Beatrice Sexton Slade, 85, of Charlotte died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at home.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Griffin, Ga., with the Rev. Franklin Gibson officiating.
A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Slade was a daughter of the late James Thomas Sexton and Lucy Agnes Sexton. She was the widow of Robert Slade. Mrs. Slade was a self-employed certified public accountant.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.

Shirley Smith
CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Shirley Leach Smith, 43, of 308 S. Clarkson St. died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Edward Garrison officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Rock Hill. She was in sales with Mutual Distributors.
Surviving are her husband, Jerome Smith; her daughter, Angelic O. Grier of Charlotte; her parents, Sammie and Bessie Adams Leach of Rock Hill; three sisters, Emma Marshall of Clover, Bessie L. McKulty of Anderson and Azalee Leach of Rock Hill; and her granddaughter.

HEATH SPRINGS - Mr. Andrew Jackson Wilson, 90, of 3672 Hoke Road died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

A native of Lancaster, Mr. Wilson was a son of the late Edward Wilson and Martha Taylor Wilson. He was 50-year member of Camp Creek United Methodist Church and had been the owner of Wilson Grocery. He was retired from J.P. Stevens Co.
Surviving are his daughter, Peggy Boone of Heath Springs; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Edmonds; two daughters, Sherrie Edmonds of Greer and Fonda E. Nesbitt of Rock Hill; and two sons, Hiawatha Edmonds Jr. of Greer and Stephan Edmonds of Simpsonville.
