Lawrence Hawkins

ROCK HILL - Mr. Lawrence Edward Hawkins, 69, of 1052 Allendale Circle died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Revs. Claude Dick and Lawson Horton officiating.

A native of Duncan, Mr. Hawkins was a son of the late Arthur Hawkins and Martha Mae Turner Hawkins. He was a retired printer with Rock Hill Printing Finishing with 32 years of service. He was a member of West End Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and taught in Training Union and Sunday school.

Surviving are his son, Eric Hawkins of Rock Hill; his daughter, Karen Hawkins Bolt of Rock Hill; two brothers, Richard Hawkins of Reidsville and Tommy Hawkins of Fort Mill; five sisters, Mildred London of Rock Hill, Sara Snow of Reidsville, N.C., Gail Clippard of Greenville, and Kathleen Johnson and Margaret McGown, both of Duncan; three grandchildren; and her great-granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his daughter, Karen Bolt, 1066 Allendale Circle, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to West End Baptist Church, 1727 McConnells Highway, Rock Hill, SC 29732 or to the American Heart Association, SC Affiliate, P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, SC 29260.

James Kendrick

ROCK HILL - The Rev. James W. Kendrick, 46, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, in Marlboro County.

The body may be viewed at noon Saturday at Bostic and Thompson Funeral Home in Columbia.

A native of Rock Hill, the Rev. Kendrick attended school in York County. He was a member of the First Born Church of the Apostolic.

Surviving are his wife, Tamara Kendrick of Rock Hill; his mother, Etta Mae Kendrick of Rock Hill; two sisters, Magdlene Wade of Rock Hill and Annette Kendrick of Greenville; five brothers, Allen Kendrick of Lancaster, and Christopher Kendrick, Johnny Kendrick, John Kendrick and Michael Kendrick, all of Rock Hill; two daughters; two stepsons and four grandchildren.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Wilma Mills

ROCK HILL - Mr. Wilma L. Mills, 60, of 174 McFadden St. died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Gold Hill Baptist Church in York, with the Rev. George McCoy officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Mills worked at Becker Minerals as a loader operator and was a member of Gold Hill Baptist Church. He was educated in the Fairfield County public schools. Mr. Mills was the son of James H. Mills and Mary Robinson Mills of Rock Hill.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Hattie Moore Mills; his son, Michael A. Mills of the home; his daughter, Pat Warren of Rock Hill; five brothers, Henry Mills of the home, Eddie Mills and Jerry Mills, both of Rock Hill, Johnny Mills of Gastonia, N.C., and Charles A. Mills of Niceville, Fla.; two sisters, Rosa Mills and Sharon M. Cherry, both of Rock Hill; five grandchildren; his great-grandchild; and his niece, Michelle Mills of Rock Hill, who was a caretaker.

The family will receive friends at the home. The body may be viewed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Parker Funeral Home.

The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. today.

Wiley Mosley

KERSHAW - Mr. Wiley Wentford Mosley, 69, of 4833 Mosley Road died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at home.

The funeral was Thursday at Florence National Cemetery in Florence with the Rev. Bill Morris officiating.

A native of Kershaw, Mr. Mosley was a son of the late William "Bill" Mosley and Maggie Lula Spradley Mosley. He was a mechanic at Paynes Auto Shop, a member of Buffalo Baptist Church and a veteran of the Army and Air Force.

Surviving are two brothers, William B. Mosley of Kershaw and Wakeford C. Mosley of Lancaster; and two sisters, Perley Lucille Hunter of Columbia and Susie M. Outen of Laurens.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Albert McWatters

CHESTER - Mr. Albert Erskine McWatters, 67, of 2514 Knox Station Road died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Orr's Baptist Church, with the Rev. Curtis Marshall officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. McWatters was a son of the late Johnny James Alexander McWatters and Bessie Jeanette Quinton Mc-Watters. He was a retired truck driver and was a member of Orr's Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Hazel M. McWatters; his son, Albert E. Mc-Watters Jr. of Richburg; two daughters, Naomi Jeanette Kee of Chester and Sherry Yvonne Boggs of Richburg; eight brothers, James T. McWatters, Dewey L. McWatters, Harold McWatters, Robert M. McWatters and Carl J. McWatters, all of Chester, Gene A. McWatters of Charlotte, Clarence A. McWatters of Fort Mill and Grady A. McWatters of Gilbert; three sisters, Minnie L. McWatters, Hazel E. King and Eva J. Simmers, all of Chester; and six grandsons.

Memorials may be made to Orr's Baptist Church, 1266 Lancaster Road, Chester, SC 29706.

Barron Funeral Home is in charge.

Shirley Shugart

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Shirley Faulkenberry Shugart, 51, of 452 Willowbrook Ave. died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial gathering will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul United Methodist Church.

A native of Gastonia, N.C., Mrs. Shugart was a daughter of Addie Roberts Faulkenberry of Lowell, N.C. and the late Ralph Faulkenberry. She was owner and operator of S.F. Shugart Tax Service.

Surviving in addition to her mother, are her son, Adam Shugart of the home; her daughter, Lisa S. Porter of Charlotte; her sister, Montine Armond of Alto, Ga.; and her half-sister, Barbara.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Charlotte Burnette

CLOVER - Mrs. Charlotte Priddy Burnette of 1584 Jim McCarter Road died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at home.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lakeview Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Tim Humes officiating.

A native of Mayo Dan, N.C., Mrs. Brunette was a daughter of the late Lois Goad Priddy and Fletcher Priddy.

Surviving are her husband, Robert K. Burnette; her son, T.J. Burnette of Clover; two daughters, Robin McQueen of Clover and Patricia Burnette of York; two brothers, Charles Priddy of North Carolina and Buddy Priddy of Charleston; her sister, Margaret Simmons of Belmont, N.C.; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Monday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

Lisa Ford

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lisa Cook Ford, 30, of 1157 Princeton Road died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Patricia Griffith-Fallaw and David Kemp officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Ford was a daughter of Robert B. "Bob" Cook and Janette Johnston Cook. She was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and Winthrop University and was a recipient of the E.C. Giles Scholarship. Mrs. Ford was a member of the National Social Workers Association and Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband, Jeffrey Wayne Ford; her daughter, Briana Lacey Ford of the home; her brother, Robert B. Cook Jr. of Charlotte; and her sister, Susan C. Reeves of Rock Hill.

Robersenia Jackson

BLAIR - Ms. Robersenia Jackson, 46, of 31 Slice Drive died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Gethsemane Baptist Church, with the Rev. Norris Turner officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Fairfield County, Ms. Jackson was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. She graduated from McCrorey Liston High School and earned her bachelor's degree from Allen University. She was a member of the Silver Hill Chapter No. 244 of the Order of the Eastern Star and a former member of the McCrorey Liston PTO.

Surviving are her parents, Frank and Cora Jackson of Blair; her son, Brian Alexander Jackson; five sisters, Sondra J. Pearson of Winnsboro, Bessie M. Gallman, Frankie R. Jackson, Sherri D. Jackson, all of Blair and Geraldine Caldwell of Newberry; and five brothers, James M. Jackson of Peru, Ind., Bishop Alfred Jackson of Rock Hill, Stephen G. Jackson of Omaha, Neb., Stephon G. Jackson of Irmo and Corey M. Jackson of Winnsboro.

James Kendrick

ROCK HILL - The Rev. James W. Kendrick, 46, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, in Marlboro County.

Betty Shugart

CHESTER - Mrs. Betty Colvin Smith Shugart, 71, of 139 College St. Ext. died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Purity Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Mark Mason officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

A native of Lockhart, Mrs. Shugart was a daughter of the late Charles Augustus Smith and Ruth Colvin Smith. She was the widow of Wylie Molton Shugart. She was a retired secretary with the South Carolina Department of Engineering. She was a member of Purity Presbyterian Church and was a graduate of Chester High School.

Surviving are two sons, Wylie Molton Shugart Jr. and Charles Michael Shugart, both of Chester; two daughters, Ruth Gladden of Chester and Edith Laws of Blackstock; her brother, Charles Augustus Smith of Granite Falls, N.C., two sisters, Helen Todnem of Marshall, Minn., and Mildred Bagley of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Purity Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 279, Chester, SC 29706.

Sybil Taylor

CLINTON - Ms. Sybil Taylor, 55, of the Whitten Center died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at Laurens County Hospital.

A memorial service will be 2:45 p.m. Monday at the Whitten Center chapel.

Ms. Taylor was the daughter of Elizabeth Hollis Taylor of Rock Hill and the late Huber Topping Taylor.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her brother, Tony Taylor of Arcadia, Calif., and her sister, Lynn Taylor Fredericks of New York.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Unit 301, Whitten Center, P.O. Box 239, Clinton, SC 29325.

William Snyder

ROCK HILL - Mr. William Edward "Red" Snyder, 77, of 4149 Rillaby Ave. died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Rawlinson Road Baptist Church, with the Rev. Terry L. Corder officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Snyder was a son of the late John L. Snyder and Mary Kinard Snyder. He was a member of Rawlinson Road Baptist Church. He was retired from Hoechst Celanese Corp. after 36 years of service. He was a member of the Frank Roach American Legion Post No. 34 in Rock Hill. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Geneva Thompson Snyder; his son, Michael D. Snyder of Chapin; his daughter, Patsy Snyder Weber of Rock Hill; two brothers, Charles L. Snyder of Gaston and Arthur C. Snyder of Rock Hill; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Green Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorial may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Maria Weatherwax

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Mrs. Maria Izabel "Bel" Weatherwax, 53, of St. Augustine, formerly of Tega Cay, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.

Memorial services were in St. Augustine.

A native of San Paulo, Brazil, Mrs. Weatherwax was of the Catholic faith. She had lived in St. Augustine since August.

Surviving are her husband, Daniel Weatherwax; her daughter, Lisa Marie Weatherwax of St. Augustine; her mother, Ondina Izabel Tumulo Tristao of Campinas, San Paulo; her sister, Ana Celia Tristao Bressani of Campinas; two brothers, Joaquim Fernando Tristao and Jose Fernando Tristao, all of Campinas; her stepdaughter, Joyce Lynn Weatherwax of Las Vegas; two stepsons, Danny Richard Weatherwax of Big Pine Key, Fla., and Gary Allen Weatherwax of Youngsville, N.C.; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
