Bonnie Byrum
CLOVER - Mrs. Bonnie Levodia Cook Byrum, 69, of 205 Hilltop Lane died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at M.L. Ford Sons Funeral Home, with the Revs. Eugene Blackwell and Olivene Martin officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
A native of Union County, N.C., Mrs. Byrum was a daughter of the late William Olin Cook and Ethel Bates Cook. She was the widow of Hood G. Byrum. Mrs. Byrum was a former beautician and was retired from Pinkney Mills in Gastonia, N.C.
Surviving are her son, Ronald Dean Byrum of the home; five sisters, Beulah Erwin, Helen Easler and Patsy Simpson, all of Clover, Geneva Stephens of Belmont, N.C., and Vivian Whitlock of Gastonia; her grandchild; and her great-grandchild.

Eugene Kendrick
CHESTER - Mr. Eugene Erskine Kendrick, 69, of 562 McDowell Drive died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Westside Baptist Church, with the Revs. Ken Carter and Mark Chapman officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.
A native of Lockhart, Mr. Kendrick was a son of the late Glen Kendrick and Kate Dabbs Kendrick. He was the original owner of Gene's Restaurant in downtown Chester. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Mr. Kendrick was a 25-year veteran of the Air Force and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a high school graduate and later attended the University of South Carolina. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 244 in Lockhart.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine Darby Kendrick; his son, Michael Kendrick of Carlisle; two daughters, Wanda Roberts of and Carolyn Parsons, both of Chester; his brother, Ralph Kendrick of Jonesville; his sister, Julia Griffin of Union; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Roger Robbins
MARY ESTHER, Fla. - Mr. Roger Dean Robbins, 45, of Mary Esther, Fla. died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at home.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, with the Rev. Olin Giles officiating.
A native of York, Mr. Robbins was a son of Mary Ruth Martin of York and the late William A. Robbins. Mr. Robbins was a truck driver and carpet installer.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Valerie Sullivan Robbins of Mary Esther; two sons, Cody Alexander Robbins of Mary Esther and Derrick Robbins of York; two brothers, Gene Robbins of York and Jimmy Robbins of Blacksburg; and his grandson.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mary Ruth Martin, 20 McCorkle St., York.

Vestil Simpson
MONROE, N.C. - Mrs. Vestil Barnard Simpson, 90, formerly of Waxhaw, N.C., died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, in Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Monroe.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Unity ARP Church, with the Rev. Dr. Guy Smith officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Iredell County, N.C., Mrs. Simpson was a daughter of the late Curtis Barnard and Cennie Brown Barnard. She was the widow of John Clay Simpson. She was a retired employee of Springs Industries and a member of Unity ARP Church in Lancaster.
Surviving are her brother, Quentine Barnard of Kannapolis, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Cecil Lanning of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Sarah Bost of Greenbelt, Md.

CLOVER - Mr. Robert Lee Swartz, 68, of 1321 Colonial Drive died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A native of Seward, Neb., Mr. Swartz was a son of the late Robert Lee Swartz Sr. and Margaret Blacker Swartz. He was a veteran of the Air Force and a clock repairman for many years. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church.
Surviving are his wife, Anna Speedman Swartz; two stepdaughters, Patricia Ann Norris of Athens, Ala. and Martha Lou Eckman of Pearl, Miss.; two stepsons, Roy David Wilkins of Bowling Green and William James Wilkins of Carson City, Neb.; and his sister, Patricia Emmie of Denver, Colo.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Danny Thomas Walker, 38, of 426 1/2 W. White St., died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Daggett Duncan officiating.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Walker was of the Protestant faith and was a former heavy-equipment operator.
Surviving are his mother, Idell Wells Moore of Rock Hill; his stepfather, Fred C. Moore of Rock Hill; two brothers, Vance C. Walker of York and Freddie Moore of Texas; two sisters, Tammie Walker of Rock Hill and Marie Shockley of Pineville, N.C.

LANCASTER - Mr. Mark Dennis Adams, 38, of 2348 Lass St. died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Taylor's Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Troy Leach officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
A native of Lancaster, Mr. Adams was a son of James Edward Adams and Virginia Mae Craig Adams of Lancaster. Mr. Adams was a truck driver for Smith Petroleum Co. and attended Taylor's Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Judy Ingram Adams; his son, William Matthew "Matt" Cole of the home; and his brother, Ronnie Lynn Adams of Lancaster.
The family will be at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James E. Adams, 1305 Rocky River Road, Lancaster.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Blaine Roosevelt Ashford, 41, of 1033 Barrow Court died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Harvest Ministries of the Church of God of Prophecy, with Bishop Ernest Richmond officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Ashford was a graduate of Rock Hill High School. He was a songwriter and producer for the Smith Sisters and Family of Rock Hill. He was an evangelist in the Church of God of Prophecy.
Surviving are his wife, Belinda Smith Ashford; three daughters, Tonia Ashford, Lashawn Ashford and Jasmine Ashford, all of Rock Hill; his parents, Bishop and Mrs. Roosevelt Ashford of Rock Hill; and his sister, Lisa Ashford Smith of Rock Hill.

YORK - Mrs. Marie Williams "Granny" Case, 75, of 907 E. Liberty St. died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A native of Cosby, Tenn., Mrs. Case was a daughter of the late Ernest Ivan Williams and Dewey Breeden Williams. She was of the Baptist faith and attended the York Senior Center.
Surviving are her son, Gary Poe of Gastonia, N.C.; her daughter, Linda Nations of Smyrna; two brothers, Elmore Williams of Sevierville, Tenn., and Vernal Williams of Cosby, Tenn.; two sisters, Omaleane Spurgeon and Jean Jenkins, both of Cosby, Tenn.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

FOLEY, Ala. - Mr. Scott E. Gettys, 34, of 203 S. Cypress St. died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham, Ala.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele, Ga., with the Rev. Willie Beasley officiating. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. today at Riverchase Presbyterian Church in West Hoover, Ala., with the Rev. Steven Mitchell officiating.
A native of Mecklenburg County, N.C., Mr. Gettys was a son of the Rev. William Millen Gettys and Mary Katherine Glenn Gettys of Cordele. He was a insurance adjuster and a member of Sigma Chi at the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a member of Riverchase Presbyterian Church.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are three sisters, Loida Gettys Mercer of Cordele, Venise Gettys Grier of Lancaster and Angie Gettys Thompson of Baton Rouge, La.

J.C. Long
LANCASTER - Mr. J.C. Long, 81, of 612 Wylie St. died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Needham Williamson officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
A native of Arden, N.C., Mr. Long was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class. He was a Navy veteran and served in the Submarine Corps as a Torpedoman's Mate First Class during World War II. He later served in and retired from the Navy Reserves.
Mr. Long was a brakeman and retired from the L&C Railway Co. He served as an auxiliary deputy sheriff for the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office and retired after more than 20 years. He was a Boy Scout leader for more than 50 years and was given the Silver Beaver Award.
Mr. Long served as a volunteer reader for Brooklyn Springs Elementary School. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Stafford Graham American Legion Post No. 31.
Surviving are his wife, Miriam Shannon Long; two sons, John Long of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and William Long of Lancaster; two brothers, Cecil Howard Long of Amhurst, Va., and Neil Davis Long of Vallejo, Calif.; his sister, Harriett Louise Bannon of Hickory, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

A native of Bryson City, N.C., Mrs. Powell was a daughter of the late James Marcus Cook and Eva Mae Jenkins. A homemaker, she was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her husband, Robla Powell; four sons, James Thomas Cook of Kings Mountain, N.C., Johnny Marvin Cook and Richard Lee "Bo" Powell, both of Gastonia, N.C., and Robert Bryan Powell of Lincolnton, N.C.; three daughters, Carla Marie Jolly and Suzanne Powell McFalls, both of Clover, and Donna Carol Willis of Waco, N.C.; five brothers, Charlie Cook of Mountain Home, Idaho, James L. Cook of Pierce, Idaho, Carl Cook of Orfino, Idaho, Billy Ray Cook of Sylva, N.C., and Sherill Cook of Gadsden, Ala.; her sister, Eilene Cash of Gadsden, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mary Wright
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mary Jo Huffstetler Wright, 62, of Rock Hill, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at Kingston Nursing Center in Conway.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Carl Harris officiating.
A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Wright was a daughter of the late Lamar Clayton Huffstetler and Dolly Porter Huffstetler. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. A 1955 graduate of Rock Hill High School, Mrs. Wright attended the College of Commerce in Rock Hill and was a retired secretary.
Surviving are her son, Christopher Dean Wright of Conway; and her grandson.
