Mildred Kimmerley

CHESTER - Mrs. Mildred Kolp Kimmerley, 61, of 1769 Brown Road died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Bishop officiating. Burial will be at Lando Cemetery.

A native of Philadelphia, Mrs. Kimmerley was a daughter of Mildred Proud Kolp of Chester and the late George Wesley Kolp. A seamstress, she attended the National Park, N.J., schools.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Norman Kimmerley; two sons, Norman S. Kimmerley Jr. and Robert C. Kimmerley, both of Mantua, N.J.; two daughters, Mildred Ann Kimmerley of Chester and Bonnie Marie Sommerkamp of Westville, N.J.; her brother, Bruce Kolp of Westville; two sisters, Dorothy Mae Whittaker of Vineland, N.J., and Gloria Asay of Tom's River, N.J.; and her grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Barron Funeral Home.

John Read Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. John McArthur Read Sr., 87, of Rock Hill, formerly of Rome, Ga., died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Rome. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens in Rome.

A native of Dover, Ga., Mr. Read was a son of the late William Embry Read and Ola Mae Robinson. He was co-founder of the accounting firm of Read, Martin and Slickman in 1951. He graduated high school in Midville, Ga., and attended Oglethorpe University. He worked for a time for the Rome branch of the Atlanta-based Respess and Respess, CPAS.

Mr. Read was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school and served on the administrative board. He was a member of the Rome Kiwanis Club and served as president, director and treasurer. He was active in the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants and served as president, chairman of the board of directors and member of the Board of Education Foundation. He represented the Georgia Society for four years as a member of the Council of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. Read was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America. He served as president, vice president and finance chairman of the Northwest Georgia Council, chairman of the council's long-range planning committee, the capital development campaign and the council service center building committee. He was a member of Waguli Lodge of the Order of the Arrow. For his service to the Northwest Council, he was awarded the Silver Beaver Award. Mr. Read represented the local council on Region Six Executive Committee, for which he was given the Silver Antelope Award.

Surviving are his wife, Juanita Haynie Read; two sons, Dr. John M. Read Jr. of Wilmington, N.C., and William H. Read of Rock Hill; his daughter, Kathryn R. Moore of Tucker, Ga.; his brother, Silas C. Read of Weaverville, Ga.; three sisters, Elizabeth R. Faust of Augusta, Ga., Myrtle R. Rearden of Aiken and Ruth R. Adams of Aiken; six grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Rome or to the Northwest Georgia Council of Boy Scouts of America.

Nolan Snelling

ROCK HILL - Mr. Nolan Philip Snelling, 61, of India Hook Road died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999.

The funeral will be private.

A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Mr. Snelling was a son of the late David Snelling and Bernice Baynes Snelling. He was owner and operator of Nolan's Bar in Rock Hill.

Surviving are three sons, David N. Snelling of Sewell, N.J., Brian B. Snelling of Buffalo, N.Y., and Jason G. Snelling of Tampa, Fla.; and his brother, David Snelling of Greenwood.

Kirsten Bullard

FORT MILL - Mrs. Kirsten P. Bullard of Fort Mill died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at McEwen Funeral Service on East Morehead Street in Charlotte, with the Rev. Art Gatewood officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

A native of Aarhus, Denmark, Mrs. Bullard retired after 22 years as the bookkeeper for Display Fixtures. She formerly lived in Charlotte and North Myrtle Beach. She was a member of McGee Presbyterian Church, Paw Creek American Legion Auxiliary, West Gate Chapter 343 Order of the Eastern Star, Areme Order of the White Shrine and Order of the Amaranth.

Surviving are her husband, Robert L. Bullard Jr.; her children, Lise Burnett of Clarksville, Va., Robert L. Bullard III of Wallisellen, Switzer-land, and Grethe Whitman of Tega Cay; her sisters, Ellen Guldberg Skaarup of Fyn, Denmark, and Inge Borucki of Greenfield, Wis.; and seven grandchildren.

Floyd Dease

LANCASTER - Mr. Floyd Dease, 66, of 1078 Old Landsford Road died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Lancaster Church of God, with the Rev. Lacy Jones officiating. Burial will be at the Rich Hill Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of Heath Springs, Mr. Dease was a son of the late Roy Dease and Sadie D. Dease. He was retired from Springs Industries and attended the Lancaster Church of God.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce Ann Carter Dease; two daughters, Becky Joyce Dease and Sherry Miles, both of Lancaster; three brothers, Gene Dease, Leroy "Tug" Dease and James "Bo Pete" Dease, all of Lancaster; his sister, Dorothy Threatt of Greenville; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Alberta Elliott

FORT MILL - Mrs. Alberta Smiley Elliott, 81, of 1149 Hensley Road died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Salisbury Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, N.C.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Sisk Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gene Flack officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

A native of Orange County, N.C., Mrs. Elliott graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Nursing Program. She worked privately as a nurse and was a homemaker.

Surviving are her son, John Smiley of Fort Mill; her sister; Martha Martin of Woodlyn, Pa.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at home.

Robert Hunter

BEDFORD, N.Y. - Mr. Robert Glenn Hunter, 70, of 183 Hickory Kingdom Road died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A native of Clintonville, Pa., Mr. Hunter was a son of the late Hilton Harold Hunter and Myrna Pierce Hunter. He was retired from the office-furniture industry. He was a vesteryman at St. Mary's Church of Bedford. He was a Mason. An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Hunter served with the 82nd Airborne. He was a graduate of Ohio University, where he was a member of Theta Chi.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Miller Hunter; his son, Robert G. Hunter II of Atlanta; his daughter, Rondi Phillips of Charlotte; and his sister, Avonell Irwin of Sarasota, Fla.

York Funeral Home in York is in charge.

Helen Benson

YORK - Mrs. Helen Lentz Benson, 69, of 3519 Innsbruck Court died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at home.

A graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain, N.C., with the Rev. Randy Madson officiating.

A native of Concord, N.C, Mrs. Benson was a daughter of the late Charles Lentz and Eva Doby Lentz.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Benson; her son, Robert Clyde Benson of Rhonda, N.C.; and two sisters, Margaret Taylor of Green-wood and Hazel Morrison of Concord.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Clover.

Todd Bucher

FORT MILL - Todd Curtis Bucher, 18, of 629 Beacon Knoll died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at home.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Parish Hall in Fort Mill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Jack Hardaway officiating. Burial will be at Crown Memorial Park in Pineville, N.C.

A native of Charlotte, Todd was a 1999 graduate of Fort Mill High School.

Surviving are his parents, Thomas Maynor and Linda Radcliffe Bucher; two sisters, Kristen Godwin of Mint Hill, N.C., and Gretchen Weber of Charlotte; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. E.R. Bucher Jr. of Raleigh, N.C.; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Radcliffe of Vista, Calif.

Alice Burguson

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Alice R. Burguson, 92, of Rock Hill died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at home.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, with the Rev. Dr. Charles Foss officiating.

A native of Rocky Mount, N.C., Mrs. Burguson was a daughter of George A. Rumph and Mary Elizabeth Grayson Rumph. She was the widow of Edwin Floyd Burguson. She was retired as executive secretary to the president of the Air Transport Association in Washington. Mrs. Burguson was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour. She received the Paul Harris Award from Rotary International. She was a member of the Little Garden Club of Rock Hill, the Daughters of the Nile and Eastern Star.

Surviving are two daughters, Sarah B. Strait and Barbara B. Griffith, both of Rock Hill; her brother, George A. Rumph of St. Petersburg, Fla.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight and following the service at the home of Frank and Sarah Strait, 934 Myrtle Drive, Rock Hill.

James Burris

FAIRFIELD, Calif. - Mr. James Russell Burris of 1752 Barton Court, formerly of Rock Hill, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, in Fairfield, Calif.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Willie G. Boulware officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Burris retired in 1975 as a Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. He joined the service in 1954. For more than 20 years he was employed by the East Bay Municipal Utility District of Oakland, Calif. Mr. Burris was a member of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local Chapter 44, the Retired Veterans and Firma Lodge No. 27 of Vallejo, Calif.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Lowery Burris; his daughter, Ayanna Burris of Woodbridge, Va.; his mother, Mary L. Tate of Rock Hill; and his sister, Barbara M. Boulware of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends at the home of his mother, Mary L. Tate, 928 Martin Ave. and at 954 Carolina Ave.

Nancy Eiler

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Nancy Sanders Eiler, 56, of 2801 Long Shadow Lane died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at India Hook United Methodist Church, with the Revs. William F. Heustess and Ben Barnett officiating. Burial will be private.

A native of Lando, Mrs. Eiler was a daughter of Sadie Orr Sanders of Rock Hill and the late Dewey C. Sanders. She was a 1961 graduate of Chester High School. She studied floral design with Derita Floral Designs and at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and in Columbia. She was the former owner and operator of Nancy's Flowers Etc. Mrs. Eiler also was licensed in real estate in North and South Carolina.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Roy Eiler; two daughters, Andrea Eiler Oliver and Amy Eiler Scott, both of Rock Hill; her brother, James C. Sanders of Charleston; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the home of her daughter, Andrea Eiler Oliver, 135 Silver Leaf Circle, Rock Hill.
