EASLEY - Mr. Bobby Cecil Nivens Jr., 41, of 100 Oak Knoll Road died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Norris First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Royce Addis officiating. Burial will be at Robinson Memorial Gardens.

A native of York, Mr. Nivens was superintendent of vehicle maintenance with Duke Energy at the Oconee Nuclear Station. He was a member of Norris First Baptist Church and the Spares and Pairs Sunday school class. He was a Mason and Shriner.

Surviving are his wife, Lori Meares Nivens; two daughters, Karen Nivens Whitfield of Liberty and Tonya Joni Nivens of McConnells; his parents, Bobby C. and Joanne Green Nivens Jr. of York and Vernia Compton and Walter B. Carroll of Rock Hill; his sister, Lisa Carroll Roach of Sumter; and his grandson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Robinson Funeral home in Easley and at other times at home.

W. Leighton Plyler

LANCASTER - Mr. William Leighton Plyler, 76, of 1014 Hilldale Drive died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tony Adams officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Plyler was a son of the late John Baxter Plyler and Ada Parks Plyler. He was the retired owner and operator of W.L. Plyler's Grocery. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Mr. Plyler was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Ethel Snipes Plyler; and two brothers, Lewis Dale Plyler and Chalmers Plyler, both of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Marguerite Abell

CUMMING, Ga. - Mrs. Marguerite Isenrich Abell, 72, of 2710 Portabella Lane, formerly of Chester, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at Sun Alliance Hospice in Atlanta.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Deacon Jon Dwyer officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

A native of Solothurn, Switzerland, Mrs. Abell was a daughter of the late Ernest Isenrich and Martha Von Arx Isenrich. She was the widow of Dr. Thomas Glenn Abell. She served as business administrator of Dr. Abell's medical practice. Mrs. Abell earned her master's degree in business administration from the University of Kaufmaennischer Verein St. Gallen, Switzerland. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Roswell, Ga.

Surviving are her son, Enrique S. Abell of Roswell; three daughters, Isabellita A. Sierra of San Francisco, Ponti A. Edwards of Rock Hill and Heidi Secker of Charlotte; two sisters, Helen Herzog and Rosemarie Isenrich, both of St. Gallen, Switzer-land; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Saturday at Barron Funeral Home.

Christine Catoe

LANCASTER - Mrs. Christine Cauthen Catoe, 49, of 1128 Townes Ave. died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the East Side Baptist Church, with the Revs. Joel Rhyner and Donald Tillman officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Catoe was a daughter of Frances Cornelia Whitley Cauthen and the late William Lee Cauthen. She was retired from the bakery/deli at Bi-Lo and a member of the East Side Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Otis M. Catoe; her daughter, Debra Llanos of Lancaster; two brothers, Charles Cauthen of Polkton, N.C., and Donnie Cauthen of Lancaster; four sisters, Judy Roberts of Great Falls and Ruth Adams, Alice Robinson and Bonnie Powers, all of Lancaster; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, and at other times at the home.

Doris Deas

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Doris Ann Deas, 61, of 2999 Glenstone Drive died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Saturday at West End Baptist Church, with the Revs. Mike Lowery, Jerry Devinney and James A. Lowery officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

Mrs. Deas was a daughter of the late Paul Lowery and Myrtle Lowery. She was a warehouse supervisor at Celanese and a member of the West End Baptist Church and of the Kathryn Raye Circle Group.

Surviving are her husband, Levy Deas; her daughter, Rhonda Devinny of Rock Hill; two stepsons, Larry Deas and Jerry Deas, both of Rock Hill; two brothers, James A. Lowery of Gastonia, N.C., and Edward Lowery of Charlotte; her sister, Betty Cameron of York; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Equitty Durham

PHILADELPHIA - Mr. Equitty "Nute" Durham, 64, of 2018 72nd Ave., formerly of Rock Hill, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 1999, in Philadel-phia.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church in North Hills, Pa.

Mr. Durham was a son of the late James Douglas and Rosa Lee Colvin. He was a retired self-employed landscaper.

Surviving are his wife, Willene C. Durham; three daughters, Cynthia Durham and Tania Carroll, both of Philadelphia, and Flo Crawford of York; his son, Michael Durham of Philadelphia; two brothers, Daniel L. Colvin and Isaac Durham, both of Rock Hill; two sisters, Elizabeth "Cat" Adams and Frances Cureton, both of Rock Hill; and seven grandchildren.

John E. Gibson Funeral Home in Philadelphia is in charge.

Wright Funeral Home in York is in charge of local arrangements.

Jean Rushford

CLOVER - Miss Jean Rushford, 75, of 1267 Southwood Drive died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at New Hope Church of God in Gastonia, N.C., with the Rev. Y.Z. Isaac officiating.

Survivors include her cousin, Andrew Rushford of Orange City, Fla.; and her caretakers, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Traas of the home.

The family will receive friends at home.

Betty Stroud

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Betty Aileen Sanders Stroud, of White Oak Manor, formerly of Chester, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at Presbyterian Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Armenia United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Fant Steele officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Stroud was a daughter of the late Peter Sanders and Annie Roberts Sanders. She was the widow of Charlton Franklin Stroud.

Mrs. Stroud was a graduate of Chester High School. A homemaker, she was a member of Armenia United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Daniel Charlton Stroud of Kershaw and Donald Franklin Stroud of Rock Hill; three daughters, Susan Moser of Sharon, Sandy Lindsay of Charlotte and Rebecca Andrade of Ormond Beach, Fla.; her sister, Annie Mae Wrenn of Chester; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Susan Moser, 2390 Openwood Court, off Burris Road in Sharon.

LANCASTER - Mr. Clinton B. Allen, 73, of 900 Hilldale Drive died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Harvesttime Assembly of God, with the Revs. Bill Allen and Allen Brazell officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Opp, Ala., Mr. Allen was a son of the late Gifford Allen and Jenny Jones Allen. Mr. Allen was a retired sheet metal fabricator. He was a member of Harvesttime Assembly of God.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys Qualls Allen; his son, Heyward Allen of Lancaster; his daughter, Agnes Allen Hudson of Lancaster; his brother, Fulton Allen of Lancaster; five sisters, Mattie Barron and Elsie Mae Lewis, both of Lancaster, Irene Davis, Buena Qualls, and Ossie Nowlin, all of Opp, Ala.; three grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Agnes Hudson, 1080 Garnette Road, Lancaster.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Mount Prospect Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Stringfellow Jr. officiating.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his maternal grandparents, Floyd Hardin and Agnes A. Hardin of Chester; his paternal grandmother, Lottie Anderson of McConnells; and his maternal great-grandmother, Frances White of Chester.

John Adams

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - Mr. John Elliott Adams, 86, of 123 James St., formerly of Chester, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at Northeast Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. P. C. Holland officiating. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park.

A native of Chester, Mr. Adams was a son of the late Elliott Adams and Nannie Ferguson Adams. He was the widower of Marie Feaster Adams. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the A.L. Brewer Gospel Choir. He attended the Old Wilson Baptist Church of Chester.

Surviving are two daughters, Delta Flowe of Raleigh, N.C., and Blondine Irving of Detroit; two brothers, Robert Adams of Kannapolis and J.T. Adams of Toledo, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Foster Roberts

GREAT FALLS - Mr. Foster Floyd Roberts, 71, of 555 Gardendale Circle died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Great Falls Nazarene Church, with the Revs. Henry Adams and Kenneth Compton officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

A native of Camden, Mr. Roberts was a son of the late Foster F. Roberts and Stella Poore Roberts Self. He was the widower of Jeanette Brewer Roberts. He was a retired weaver from J. P. Stevens Co. He was a member of Great Falls Nazarene Church.

Surviving are six sons, Foster "Buck" Roberts of Simpsonville, David Roberts of Lancaster, Mike Roberts of Chester, Donnie Roberts of Blackstock, and John Roberts and Charles "Chucky" Roberts, both of Great Falls; his daughter, Glory East of Great Falls; two brothers, Earl Roberts of Great Falls and J.W. Roberts of Gastonia, N.C.; 26 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

Victor Volikas

YORK - Mr. Victor David Volikas, 42, of 323 S. Shiloh Road, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Sept. 4 at the United Church of Christ in Devon, Conn.

Mr. Volikas was of the Protestant faith and worked with Red Clay Industries and Blythe Construction Co.

Surviving are his mother, Marilyn M. Volikas of the home; three brothers, James Volikas and Raymond Volikas, both of Devon, Conn., and George Schwab of West Haven, Conn.; four sisters, Cheryl Ziegler of Ansonia, Conn., Betty Ann Curbank of Shelton, Conn., Christine Volikas of Devon, Conn., and Josephine Merlo of York; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home in Rock Hill and at other times at the home.

Ethel Williams

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Ethel Revels Williams, 71, of 203 Locust St. died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Great Falls Baptist Church, with the Revs. Doug Irvin and Curtis Cameron officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Williams was a daughter of the late Thomas Leroy Revels and Kate Lloyd Revels. She was retired from J.P. Stevens Co. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and the Great Falls Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 211.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph "Joey" Martin Williams of Great Falls and T. Randy Williams of Atlanta; her brother, Wade H. Revels of Greenville; two sisters, Jeanette McAteer of Great Falls and Sarah Cameron of Lancaster; and her grandson.

Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home is in charge.
