CONWAY -- Martha S. Simmons, 73, died Sunday, Mar. 27, 2005 at Conway Medical Center following an illness. Arrangements will be announced by Palmetto Funeral Home of Conway.
Richard O'Neil Singletary
WHITE LAKE, N.C. -- Mr. Richard O'Neil Singletary, 77, of South Ocean Boulevard, and also of Clarkland Village, White Lake, N.C., died Saturday, Mar. 26, 2005 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach.
Mr. Singletary is survived by a son, Richard Singletary Jr. and his wife Cynthia, of Greenville, N.C.; four daughters, Martha Woods of Winston Salem, N.C., Rachel Singletary of Myrtle Beach, Laura Singletary of Jensen Beach, Fla. and Alice Singletary of Chapel Hill, N.C.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Mar. 31, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fred Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Old Trinity Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Mar. 30 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Kinlaw Funeral Home of Elizabethtown, N.C.

Edward C. Smith
HARTSVILLE -- Edward C. Smith, age 73, died Saturday, Mar. 26, 2005.
Edward was born in York, Pa., a son of the late Charles E. Smith Jr., and Laretta Kohler Smith. He was a Veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are daughters, Karla Tompkins, Barbara Taylor, Red Lion, Pa.; brothers, Gene Carlton Smith, Pasadena, Calif.; Jack Winfred Smith, Darlington; four grandchildren; and special friend, Margaret Langley.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Edward Smith III.

Charles Ringnald Thompson Jr.
CONWAY -- Charles Ringnald Thompson Jr., age 70, of Snowhill Dr., died Saturday, Mar. 26, 2005 at his residence following an illness.
Mr. Thompson was born in Conway, a son of the late Charles Ringnald Thompson Sr., and Selma Gregg Thompson. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Hut Bible Class and the Masonic Lodge # 65 AFM. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Waccamaw Shrine Club and retired from Monumental Life Insurance Company.
Surviving are his wife, Billie M. Thompson of Conway; three daughters, Vicki T. Smith and husband Craig, of Conway, Sonia T. Cargill and husband Todd, of Myrtle Beach and Cathy Moen and husband Dave, of Conway; one sister, Sylvia Avant and husband William "Billy," of Conway; five grandchildren, Kimberly Smith, Christopher Smith, Mary Allison "Alli" Cargill, Madison Moen, and McKenna Moen.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m.Tuesday at Hillcrest Cemetery with the Rev. Ben Barnett officiating.

HEMINGWAY -- Johnny Derrell Williams, 48, died Saturday, Mar. 26, 2005. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Little Star Free Will Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
James Donald Young II
LONGS -- James Donald Young II, 24, of Longs, died Friday, Mar. 25, 2005.
He was born on April 5, 1980, in Wooster, Ohio, a son of James D. and Karen White Young.
James is survived by his mother, Karen Honeycutt and her husband Coy, of Longs; his father, James D. Young and his wife Pam, of Paintville, Ky.; a son, Salvator Joseph Young; a daughter, Celina Young, both of Longs; a brother, Buddy Dixon of Mullins; a sister, Karen Young of Conway; and his girlfriend and mother of his children, Brenda Pagilone of Longs.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Lee Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. at Lee Funeral Home Chapel.

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH -- Johnny L. Idol, 72, of North Myrtle Beach, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at his home.
He was born on Oct. 11, 1932 in Richmond County, N.C., a son of the late John L. and Autan Phipps Idol.
Mr. Idol is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Parnell Idol of North Myrtle Beach; a son, Johnny "Bubba" Idol and his wife, Vicki, of Rockingham, N.C.; a daughter, Gloria I. Snead of North Myrtle Beach; two brothers, Thomas Idol of Rockingham, Bobby Idol of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Helen Vowels of Vine Grove, Ky., Betty Williamson of Swansboro, N.C., Shirley Chavis of Rockingham; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Glen Idol and a sister, Patsy Cook.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday at East Rockingham Free Will Baptist Church, East Rockingham, N.C.
