Vonnie Bertise Chestnut
CONWAY -- Retired Tech. Sgt. Vonnie Bertise Chestnut, 76, of the Hickory Grove Community and the husband of 54 years of Rosemary Emma Snape Chestnut, passed away Monday morning, Mar. 21, 2005, at his residence with his family and friends by his side.
Mr. Chestnut was born Nov. 27, 1928, in Conway, the son of Isaac Bert Chestnut and Elva Melvina Gilmore Chestnut. He was a retired Technical Sergeant of the United States Air Force. His military career began in the U.S. Army in 1950 during which time he served in the Korean War and was awarded numerous medals including the Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Medal. He completed his service in the U. S. Air Force, retiring in 1969 as a Technical Sergeant during which time he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star. He was a Mason.
Surviving in addition to his wife Rosemary are one son, Ronald Bert Chestnut and his wife Annette, of Conway; two daughters, Linda Elizabeth Jackson of Conway, Karen Ann Townley and her husband David, of Conway; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, James Hoyt Chestnut and wife Alston, of Conway; and one sister-in-law, Kathleen Chestnut of Cheraw.
Funeral service with Military Recognition will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Mar. 24, 2005, at the Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery directed by Palmetto Funeral Home of Conway.
Memorials are to be made to Mercy Hospice of Horry County.

GEORGETOWN -- Thelma Greene Davis, 77, died Monday, Mar. 21, 2005 in Perry, Ga., from natural causes. Arrangements will be announced by Wilds Funeral Home of Georgetown.
Ruth E. Hansen
SURFSIDE BEACH -- Ruth E. Hansen, age 82, of Oceanside Village, passed away Tuesday, Mar. 22, 2005 in the company of her loving family after a sudden illness.
Born Aug. 18, 1922 in Lima,
Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Olliney Osbourne Copeland and Dorothy Campbell Thomas. Mrs. Hansen had been a model and had served for 25 years as a postmaster. She had worked at Wright Air Force Base in
Ohio and was a member of the Eastern Star and was an officer in the American Legion Auxiliary. She was extremely active with the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and many other youth organizations. Mrs. Hansen was an avid bridge player and very active in her church. Mrs. Hansen was a very wonderful and loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother and always put her family first. She was loved and will be missed by her family and many, many friends. Mrs. Hansen was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Chris N. Hansen; grandson, J.Tyler Holland; sister, Beulah Reed; and brother, Herbert J. Copeland.
Surviving are sons, Chris N. Hansen II of Conway, and James A. Hansen of Galivants Ferry; daughter, Dorothy H. Holland and husband John, formerly of Conway; grandchildren, James A. Hansen III, Elizabeth Hansen and Drew A. Holland; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. Funeral services will be private.

Edmund Lee Holliday
LITTLE RIVER -- Edmund Lee Holliday, 78, of Little River, died Tuesday, Mar. 22, 2005 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Nov. 4, 1926 in Belton, S.C., a son of the late Asbury and Thelma Willingham Holliday.
He is survived by a daughter, Jeannie Banks and her husband Alan, of Ash, N.C.; five brothers, Charles Holliday of Anderson, Don Holliday, Jerry Holliday, Doyle Holliday, Pete Holliday, all of Taylors; three sisters, Jenny Wright of Anderson, Frances Forrester and Jean Cobb, both of Taylors; one granddaughter, Michelle Leigh Davis, and two great-granddaughters, Victoria Banks Davis and Savanna Leigh Davis.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Lee Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation follows the service.

Bertie Woodrow Jordan
FLORENCE -- Bertie Woodrow Jordan, 79, of South Charleston Road, died Tuesday, Mar. 22, 2005 in a Florence hospital after an illness.
Mr. Jordan was the last surviving child of Eb and Molly Herring Jordan. He was born in Conway, S.C. on May 26, 1925. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, The Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam Era, having retired after 22 years service with the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the V.F.W. and was a member of the Baptist Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a son, Dennis "Ricky" Jordan.
Surviving are his wife, Theresa Elizabeth Bauch Jordan of Florence; three daughters, Mary (Larry) Abbott of Florence, Doris (Tommy) Rabon and Joyce "Jo" (Lansey) Gore, both of Marion; nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. A private committal service will be held in the Florence National Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Abbott, 2541 S. Charleston Road, Florence, S.C. 29501.

Frank W. Pisani
LA GRANGE, N.C. --
The Rev. Dr. Frank Warren Pisani, 83, of West
Washington Street, died Tuesday, Mar. 22, 2005 at SunBridge Rehabilitation Center.
Frank was born in San Francisco to the late Jack and Zillah Pisani. Frank graduated from the University Of
California at Berkeley and then served as a 1st Lieutenant during World War II in Patton's Third Army. Following his military service, Frank attended Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Va. After graduation, Frank was rector at The Church Of The Holy Comforter in Tallahassee, Fla. Later, he served as the Associate Dean at Virginia Theological Seminary and then as President of St. Mary's College in Raleigh, N.C. Following his service at St. Mary's, he served on staff at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. He was rector at the Episcopal Church Of The Resurrection in Surfside Beach. After Frank's retirement to La Grange, N.C., he served as rector of Holy Innocents Episcopal Church for ten years.
Frank is survived by his wife of twenty eight years, Sara Frances Walters Pisani; two daughters, Caroline Pisani Bell and husband, Thomas of Goldsboro, N.C., and Sara Alice Pisani of Tampa, Fla.; son, John Franklin Pisani of Tampa, Fla.; brother, Richard Pisani of San Rafael,
Calif.; and a granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Bell.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Mar. 26, 2005 at 11 a.m. from Holy Innocents Episcopal Church with the Rt. Rev. Clifton Daniel III, the Rev. Tommy Tipton, and the Rev. Edward Kelaher officiating. Burial will follow in the Holy Innocents Episcopal Church Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Pisani home, 302 West
