William Darrell Franklin "Bill" Ray
MULLINS -- William Darrell Franklin "Bill" Ray, 76, of Mullins, S.C., husband of Betty Floyd Ray, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004 at McLeod Regional Medical Center.
Born in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., on Aug. 1, 1928, he was the son of the late Otis Franklin and Mattie Hudson Ray.
He was a retired x-ray and laboratory technologist and a Marine Corps veteran. He was a member of the Mullins First Baptist Church, the Men's Bible Class, and the Senior Saints Choir. He was also a member of the Damascus Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Darrel Ray Farlow and her husband Craig, of Simpsonville, and Vencie Ray Maxey and her husband Rick, of Conway; three brothers, Theodore Ray of Smithfield, Va., Graham Ray of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Gordon Ray of Jackson, N.C.; two sisters, Mildred Ray of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Pat Whitby of New Bern, N.C.; four grandsons, William Alton Maxey and Lewis Hayden Maxey of Conway, and Reid Allen Farlow and Matthew William Farlow of Simpsonville.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Nadine Ray Eldridge and three brothers, James Elmo Ray, Valton Ray, and Frederick Ray.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, at Meares Funeral Home, Mullins, S.C. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at Meares Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Kirkland officiating. Burial will follow in Cedardale Cemetery.

Mitchell Alexander Siaweleski
SURFSIDE -- Mitchell Alexander Siaweleski, 44, died at his home.
He was born March 16, 1960, in New Jersy, son of Alexander and Jane Zuchowski Siaweleski.
He was an airline mechanic and was a catholic.
Survivors include his parents of Calabash, N.C.; a brother, Paul Siaweleski of Myrtle Beach; his sister, Phyllis Novkovic of Bridgewater, N.J., and his aunt, Sophie Furka of Surfside Beach.
Services and burial will be in Boundbrook, N.J. at a later date.
McMillan-Small is serving the family.
Wilma C. Sisson
MYRTLE BEACH -- Wilma C. Sisson, 84, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004.
She was born Dec. 28, 1919 in New York, a daughter of the late Floyd and Clara Vincent Cole.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. McMillan-Small Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Sgt. Micah I. Spires
FT. CAMPBELL, Ky. -- Sgt. Micah I. Spires, age 28, of Society Drive in Conway, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004 at Ft. Campbell, Ky.
SGT. Spires was born in Atlanta, Ga., a son of Tonya Spires. He enlisted in the US Army on July 10, 1994 and reported to Ft. Sill, Okla. for basic training as a field artillery forward observer. Upon completing training at Ft. Sill, he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 9th Field Artillary Regiment at Ft. Stewart, Ga. and quickly attained the rank of Sergeant. In 1996, he was nominated by his Chain of Command to attend the US Military Academy Preparatory School in Ft. Monmouth, N.J. After successful completion of a year of rigorous academic work, he secured an appointment to the acedemy and entered as a member of the Class of 2001. After more than two successful years as a cadet, Sgt. Spires was forced to leave West Point due to complications arising from a back injury sustained while playing rugby. After a period to convalesce, he re-entered Active Duty military service as a combat medic.
As a medic, Sgt. Spires was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 187th infantry Regiment while the battalion was in Baghdad, Iraq. For nine months, he served as a senior line medic in the battalion as they conducted daily patrols in the Ninevah Province of Northern Iraq. Redeploying from Iraq in January 2004, Sgt. Spires was assigned as a Squad Leader in the battalion's medical platoon where he continued to lead soldiers with unmatched passion and selfless care for others until his untimely death.
Sgt. Micah Spires' military awards and decorations include the Combat Medic Badge, the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal. He was very proud to serve his country, and was a 1994 graduate of Conway High School.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Conway, are his grandfather Frank Spires and his wife Lynn of Conway; one uncle Gregory Spires and his wife Leeny of Dorchester; one aunt Che' Martin and her husband Stony, of Goose Creek; one niece, AnnaJane Martin and a nephew, Daniel Martin, both of Goose Creek, and several close aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday from Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carl Hunsucker officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 6 to8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

MURRELLS INLET -- Linda Kay Terrell Yandle, 61, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004.
Services will be 9 a.m. Sunday, at Garden City Beach Pier with Pastor Thomas Nelson officiating.
Donald R. Brewer Sr.
JOHNSONVILLE -- Donald R. Brewer Sr., 61, husband of Judy Player Brewer, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, in a Columbia hospital after an illness.
Mr. Brewer was born in Williamsburg County, a son of Helen Thompson Brewer and the late Dewey Brewer Sr. He was a graduate of Hemingway High School and owner of Don's Scrap Iron and Metal Company. Mr. Brewer was a Shriner and a Mason with Indiantown Masonic Lodge #165.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Judy Player Brewer of the home, and his mother, Helen Thompson Brewer of Hemingway, are two sons, Donald R. "Donnie" Brewer Jr. and his wife Tammy, of Johnsonville, and Ashley Brewer and his wife Melanie, also of Johnsonville; four grandchildren, Graysen Brewer, Altman Brewer, Evelyn Brewer, and Madelyn Rose Brewer, all of Johnsonville; four sisters, Pam Matthews and Dorothy Cox, both of Hemingway, Janice Nettles of Johnsonville, and Patsy Brewer Detwiler of Summerton; and two brothers, Dewey Brewer Jr. of Hemingway and Buddy Rogers of Georgetown.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Old Johnsonville United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Old Johnsonville Cemetery directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

North Myrtle Beach -- Henry C. Broadwell Sr., 86, husband of the late Maria Ehringer Broadwell, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 at Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston.

MYRTLE BEACH -- Vincent Francis Fabrizio Sr., 81, died at home Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004.
He was born Dec. 18, 1922 in Washington, D.C., a son of the late Francis and Carmel Perusso Fabrizio.
Survivors include his loving wife, Martha Hughes Phillips Fabrizio; a son, Vincent F. Fabrizio Jr. of Falls Church, Va.; a sister, Jean Canger and her husband Al, of Fair Lawn, N.J.; a niece, Pamela Parker of Lorton, Va.; two nephews, Douglas Hunter of Clovis, Calif., and Philip Hunter of San Antonio.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
