Bert H. Chestnut
MYRTLE BEACH -- Bert H. Chestnut, 77, of Dogwood Lane, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004 in Myrtle Beach.
He was born April 24, 1927 in Conway, and was a son of the late Alva and Cynthia Todd Chestnut.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star among others. He retired from the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base after 32 years. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Phoebe Walters Chestnut; two sons, Alan and his wife Tina, Roger and his wife Shonda; two grandsons, Aaron and Clay.
A private service will be held at the request of the family. Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 3000 N. Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29577.

Jacqueline Morgan Coleman
LITTLE RIVER -- Jacqueline Morgan Coleman, 75, died peacefully at home on Aug. 27, 2004 of cancer.
Born July 31, 1929 in Fuquay Varina, N. C., she was the daughter of the late William Nathan Morgan and Lelia Carter Morgan. She fought a very brave and admirable battle for 10 years. In the end, she made courageous decisions about her life. Mrs. Coleman was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother.
Jackie is survived by her high school sweetheart and devoted husband of 55 years, William Bryan Coleman, Sr. She is also survived by five children, Tana Melton and son-in-law, Dennis Melton, of Denver, N. C.; William Bryan Coleman, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Kay, of Cary, N. C.; Debbie Coleman of Currie, N. C.; Patricia Kircheis and son-in-law, Ted Kircheis, of Hickory, N. C. and Jana Hobbs of Wilmington, N. C.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her mother, father, and sister, Elizabeth Morgan Martin, preceded her in death.
She completed high school in Red Springs, N. C. and attended Peace and Meredith Colleges in Raleigh, N. C. She was employed for 17 years by the Lumber River Electric Membership Corporation in Red Springs, N. C. and Thomas & Howard of Rocky Mount before retiring with her husband to Little River, S. C. Since her retirement, she has been an active member of Living Stones Baptist Church in Wampee, S. C.
Jackie's family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lee Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Living Stones Baptist Church. Dr. Dennis Kenney will conduct the service. A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. at Alloway Cemetery in Red Springs, N. C.
Her family wishes to thank Dr. Burchuck and his staff at Duke Medical Center for their care of Jackie over the last 10 years, Dr. Ballashandran and the staff of North Myrtle Beach Dialysis Center, Dr. Maria Baens and staff and the Hospice nurses of Horry County.

Patsy Kelly Dorman
CONWAY -- Patsy Kelly Dorman, age 65, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004 at Conway Medical Center.
Ms. Dorman was born in Conway, a daughter of the late John Kelly and Bertha Skipper Dorman. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Conway and retired from Civil Service at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base.
Surviving are one sister, Margaret Ann Vaught and her husband, Johnny of Conway; two nephews, Bob Thompkins and his wife, Ann, of Conway and John Paul Thompkins of Myrtle Beach; great niece and nephew, Emily and John Kelly Thompkins.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday from Hillcrest Cemetery with the Rev. Rocky Taylor officiating. Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel is in charge.
Earl Joseph Faircloth
LONGS -- Earl Joseph Faircloth, age 85, of West Bear Grass Road, passed away Friday, Aug. 27, 2004 at the Health South Rehabilitation Hospital in Florence.
Mr. Faircloth was born Dec. 17, 1918 in Horry County, a son of the late Christopher Faircloth and the late Allie Hardee Faircloth. He was a farmer and formerly worked in maintenance with the S.C. Highway Department in Longs. Mr. Faircloth was a member of Mt. Leon Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Sadie Merritt Faircloth.
Survivors include two daughters, Earlene F. Long and her husband, Charles of Loris and Mary Frances F. Lane and her husband, Harry of Charleston; one sister, Ruth L. Faircloth of Loris; four grandchildren, Renay Hardee and her husband, Chris, Melissa Lambert and her husband, Wesley, Dale Lane and his wife Melodee, and Kathy Lane; and three great-grandchildren, Hannah N. Hardee, Marissa Lane and Brittnee Robertson.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28 at Ward Funeral Home in Loris.
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29 from Mt. Leon Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Stevens and the Rev. Russell Hewitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery.

MYRTLE BEACH -- Gladys C. Mackenzie Hill, 81 died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, in Myrtle Beach.
She was born January 1, 1923 in Niagara Fall, Canada.
Gladys came to Myrtle Beach from Niagara Falls in 1974. She was a vendor at the Surfside Flea Market for many years.
Survivors include three sons, Brian Mackenzie and Michael Mackenzie, both of Niagara Falls, Canada and Randy MacKenzie of Myrtle Beach; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 28 at McMillan - Small Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. Reverend Kirk Lawton will officiate. Burial will be private.
